Comments about Gear One DRI100 Buy One Get Two Free:
I bought these as knock around mics so I could hear my drums through headphones while playing along to music. Today, somebody asked me to make a rough drum track real quick and I just used what was already there. I was more than impressed with how they sounded, even (or especially) on the kick drum. It was amazingly full and punchy after some minor EQ tweaking. I ran the Snare mic more or less flat and it tracked well.
I'd say they are pretty comparable in overall sound quality to most instrument mics, except that they need a good bit more gain to reach the same level output. They are also lighter weight than something like an SM57 by a long shot, and seem to have more handling noise. This was not an issue for me, but I don't know how well they would hold up on the road.
All in all, it is a fantastic value. I wouldn't hesitate to track guitar or drums with them in place of mics costing several times as much.

Comments about Gear One DRI100 Buy One Get Two Free:
Just like advertised, they work well to mic amplifiers. I mounted them on the Leslie cabinet and did not pick up any vibration noise as long as they were mounted slightly off axis at the louvers. More controllable than a '58. Not as sensitive, but then these can handle the spl better. If you want a voice mic, use a 58 or 57. Don't know if these will last like a Shure, but at this price, who cares? I would recommend for amp miking.
Pros
- Durrable
- No feedback
Cons
- none
Best Uses
- Snare
- Toms

Comments about Gear One DRI100 Buy One Get Two Free:
you cant buy 3 mics for this price anywhere. even if they were total junk its still a good deal. they work exactly the way they were described, they are just really light, maybe not so rugged. i will buy more for this price, cheap way to get a studio set up.

can't beat it! I think i'm gonna stock up on these and use my 57's for live stuff.
I'm glad it doesnt have an on/off switch. Just one more thing that can go wrong.
Pretty sturdy metal casing. The plastic parts dont feel the strongest but i'm using it in a studio setting and am not too worries about that.
I picked these up on 'sale' in a bundle of 3. I use a couple sm57's in my studio and got these to expand on my collection. Really just wanted to test them out.
I put it side by side with a 57 on a bass amp... This outperformed the 57, in my opinion. I much preferred the tone I was getting from these cheap little mics. There was more dynamic to the tone... it was brighter but also seemed heavier in the low end.
Then I recorded a band using these on the snare, toms, guitars and bass. Everything sounded MUCH better than I expected. For the price, I have never seen a better dynamic mic. Even the mic clip is of good quality.
These DRI100's are a heck of a deal. I'm buying 3 more before they jack up the price.

I think they are what they are a good cheap mic
I wish they were isolated better but then i'm sure they would cost more.
Not much to say here, no on/off switch it's just a mic
They sound good as long as you don't touch them, they pickup ever little vibration.
This is because the element is not isolated from the case but they are not vocal mics so if you put them in a stand and don't bump anything they are attached to they will work fine.
Very directional mics which helps reduce feedback when using them to mic an amp that is off to the side of the PA speakers
You can tell they are not SM57 mics just by the weight, they are much lighter.
The sound is slightly brighter than an SM57 but they still have decent low end response.
Good value for the money, I had a sound guy I work with check one out and he also was impressed with their performance.
I use them for micing guitar amps and they work fine for that
