All these one star reviews are ridiculous! You need to compare apples to apples here folks. I got these at the "stupid Deal of the day" but 25 and under and these are a steal. Good sound, nice isolation, solid construction and a nice long quality cord. I've been using then in my drum practice room and they are just fine.

Thought I'd try these when they were on sale for less than the "standard" studio cans.

About all I can say good about them is they are very light, about half the weight of my regular phones.

The problems are many...
-These are NOT circumaural unless you have ears the size of a two year old. That means, for me anyway, they are half on and half off my ears making them extremely uncomfortable. It also means they will never seal properly, so much for isolation.
-The isolation is bad. Sealed against my temples (to avoid the ear problem listed above) and playing at a moderate volume, they are easily picked up by my studio condenser mics. About the same as a set of open backs.
-They feel like they're going to crush your head. I suppose they did that to try to get the lousy design to seal on your ears. You can probably stretch them out, but that would make the seal even worse than it already is.
-The frequency response is not very good. A big peak in the mids, and rolling off pretty fast both high and low. Makes for loud but thin vocals, and really weak instruments. The talent will be pointing at their instruments and motioning to you to "turn it up! turn it up!".
-The build quality is terrible. To Musicians Friend's credit, they tell you when you order these that there are no replaceable parts, a red flag that I foolishly ignored. The cord is stiff and hard, the plug is cheap, the 1/4" adapter is heavy but designed so it will only work with the plug on these phones, and the ear pads are cheap and stiff. I don't think these will last more than a few months if used regularly.

I have had on worse headphones, but not in the price range these are pretending to. Since I can't imagine ever using these, I'm sending them back even though the shipping will eat a third of the price I paid. Bummer.

Comments about Gear One G100DX Isolation Headphones:

I bought these as backup for recording (i use imac/logic pro/apogee interfaces). The quality was a huge surprise. Above average seperation, balance, fidelity and presence. I a/b'd them against my KRKs, Sony, and studio speakers, and mixing with them is safe, that is, what you hear is what you get in EQ and levels. I do not use Bose, dr. dre or any of the high end pop headsets because they distort eq so radically, mostly by boosting the low end.

    Not adjustable

    By Jeremy Odom

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Gear One G100DX Isolation Headphones:

These headphones have finally gotten me frustrated enough to buy a very expensive and well known pair. They are extremely uncomfortable, cheaply made, and sound awful.
These headphones are completely unadjustable. The headband idea is probably the worst I've ever seen or worn. For "padding" there are solid rubber pads that either 1. pull your hair if you move at all or 2. rub like crazy if you're bald (at least I assume, as I've never been bald before). The band isn't long enough and so I can barely get these on my ears with a stretch. Stretching them to my ears makes the rubber pads pull my hair painfully. There is no winning. The headphones themself look like something you'd get for free on an airplane 20 years ago. Like someone else said also, the adapter is shaped in a way to make it worthless with any other cable. After testing it, too, it didn't work. I had to manually put pressure to push the cable into the adapter hard enough for it to make contact.
Build-wise, they seem moderately sturdy. My old plastic Seinhessier's lasted me a few years of moderate use and so I bet these would last a while too. They are bulky and inconvenient and so not good for travel. As far as sound, these headphones are completely awful. The bass has a nice kick but the treble loss is astounding and anything in the mid range sounds like complete mush, there's no clarity at all. These headphones are horrible in every way.
If I had known about these headphones I probably would have been willing to pay half as much. My cheap sony ear buds have better sound quality and comfort than these.

Comments about Gear One G100DX Isolation Headphones:

they're lightweight, kinda cheap, kinda small, and the least comfortable headphones I've ever put on.
They're fine for what I paid, but nobody should ever under any circumstance pay the regular price. The sound is fine, pretty good actually, but I've got a pair of sonys that sound better. But it is a good clean sound for tracking, good tone, so I'm gonna use them. The only real problem is the size, they're so tight, and I have a normal size head. I had to stretch them and reshape them, didn't enjoy that, but now they fit. "hours of comfort"??? Really??? My advice is to keep looking,

Comments about Gear One G100DX Isolation Headphones:

To start off, I bought these headphones just to have a secondary pair around for when I need to show somebody new material that I'm working on. My primary is a pair of Bose over-ear headphones (the 150 model).

Now, to say that these headphones are adequate isn't totally a lie, but it's bordering on stretching the truth. They're hardly adjustable, the rotation of the portion that goes over your ears is minimal at best, my ears feel like they're smashed and mangled inside, and the sound quality with my instruments is muffled and hollow. There is zero low end in these things, so if you're an electro/dance/rap/bass fanatic, you're out of luck.

I would have to say that the only 2 redeeming features about these headphones are the length of the cord and the capacity to nullify ambient noise in the environment. Once there's sound flowing through them, there's not much (if anything) that comes through. I used them when I was playing my electric drum kit, and the sounds of the pads didn't cut through until I turned it down to a pretty low volume.

To wrap it up: If you're someone who is looking for pure audio quality, do NOT buy these headphones. If you're just looking for something temporary to feed the need and listen to things while you're busy doing other stuff, go for it. That being said, I feel like you could get better sound quality for less, so if you're buying these, buy them for the hoise reduction and cord length. If you're an audiophile. just bite the bullet and save up for a better pair. 100 will go a long way these days, and for 1/3 of the price you're getting 1/20 of the quality.

    I will be returning these.

After reading some of the other reviews I was a bit concerned they maybe would not work out when I get them but they are useable. They are very inexpensive so I don't expect them to be top shelf, but they are fairly comfortable, sound decent, nice long cord. For what I paid I feel good about it. The cord is thin and seems like it may not take a lot of rough use as is the input jack. So far no issues at all. It does what is is supposed to,sounds fine and for the price I will not stress out if it goes kaput after a year or so or if me dog destroys it.

Comments about Gear One G100DX Isolation Headphones:

I had reservations while waiting for this set of headphones to come after reading all the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that: either my head was built just right, or 2) the "Cord too short" comment was for those desiring more than 10 feet away. Anyway, I was thrilled by the quality of sound they produced (better than my old Wurlitzers), where they had clarity, depth, and detail. True, it would be nice if you could expand the round headband to lower or lengthen it a bit more, but they seemed to fit perfectly the way they were built. I'd give them 5 stars if it wasn't for that, but I think I'll give them 5 anyway...because, to me, they're just right for the price...and the sound's much better than I had anticipated.

First, if there were a rating LESS than "One Star", that's what these would get! I listed "Price" as a con, but added a question mark because the price is why I bought these, and the ONLY reason I didn't send them back. Too much of a hassle for the measly amount I spent. But a complete rip-off just the same. They are absolute TRASH. Have you been to your local "99 Cent Place" and seen the headphones they sell for 99 cents? These have about the same sound quality, but aren't built as well as the ones for a buck. I bought them to give away as a gift and would be embarrassed to do so! THAT is how poorly constructed and cheap-feeling they are, from the crummy packaging to the crummy product inside, they say "junk" right from the door. The sound is muddy and hollow, they are terribly uncomfortable, and overall a complete waste of the time it took to buy the and try them and waste of the little space they take up laying discarded on my shelf in the studio. DON'T waste your time and money on this thing....get a nice pair of headphones, even if you have to spend a little more you'll be glad you did!
NOTE TO THE MANAGERS:: MF, you should actually be ASHAMED to sell these at ANY price!

Bought these to save parents some frustration when playing my guitar. Don't let the 87% off price tag fool you theres a reason all they're good for Is the adapter now I just use the adapter with my other headphones. Some things are to good to be true
