We tried one of these so our bass/singer could do his thing without being tied down to one spot. Didn't cut through without clipping. For speaking engagements, etc., it's probably OK, but do yourself a favor and spend a bit more.
I bought 2 of these for a Panasonic DVC-30 pro-sumer stereo camcorder. The camcorder has adjustable sound levels. I turned the mics all the way up and adjusted the camera dB to minimize hiss. The hiss is barely noticable with no sound input, if you are really paying attention. The receivers are very compact - pocket-size - so they can be strapped to the tripod. I'm sure others will appreciate this also. While you CAN get reception up to 100 feet, you can depend on it under all circumstances to about half that. As a lavalier mic for my rock band, it is perfectly adequate.
While this is not the solution to all of your wireless mic needs, it will do most jobs nicely. A mobile DJ always runs into an individual who wants to hear him or herself on the mic. Hook him up and let him go. Measure your range before your performance and respect your limitations. You'll get good coverage and decent sound from this lightweight, inexpensive representation from the high tech end of the entertainment world. Nice mic for the money.
You get what you pay for. There is no port for A/C power. Directions say two-AA batteries but actually uses AAA. Used it for 5 minutes and the sound got muffled. Ended up cutting the head set mic and wiring it for XLR connection. Very disapointed.
Bought this unit to use in my apt for practice, and at a club i belong to for the mic attachements. This unit could be free and it wouldn't be worth it, when the guitar cord is plugged in their is no sigal, even with distortion and the amp turned all the way up.With the mic cables installed the only thing it did was feedback, and none of the adjustments it has would help. This was sent back after 1 week.
I was dissapointed right out of the box. This system feels cheap, the plastic is thin. One thing the description doesn't tell you is that the reciever is powered by 2 AAA batterys. That didn't inspire to much confidence. The Range is ok and the sound at first was passable but then it started buzzing... It's on it's way back.
