I do not own this, but I have used one many times while working as a Mobile DJ.

I gave it 4 stars because its not a top of the line product, and could use some tweaking. But all in all, not a bad setup for the price.

A lot of reviews seems to be more along the lines of being setup by people who don't know what they are doing. I'm not saying their dumb or an idiot. They just don't have experience in proper setup.

The review about needing the mic close to the mouth, This is from not knowing the difference between mic gain, and master vol. Lac of experience, and/or knowledge in setup.

Turn master vol. down to where you can just hear yourself talk. Keep the mic away from the mouth few inches, talk normally, sing, etc. and adjust the mic gains till you can clearly hear yourself talk(while keeping mic away from mouth). Now adjust the master vol.(located on the sound system your using, and/or mixer). Should be good to go. The More gain, the further away from mic you can be, but be careful, if your around the speakers, for you could get feedback. If you do, simply, slowly, little at a time adjust mic gain down, and volume up etc. till you get the results you want.

As for the cutting in and out review. One thing that wasn't mention that I think may be key here is, the location you placed the receiver. If you have it on or close around other electronics. This is going to cause you issues.

You may not know, other electronics such as but not limited to, mixers, power amplifiers, Computers, etc. pretty much anything that plugs in. emits electronic frequencies. Even a simple extension cord, and cell phones. These frequencies can cause interference.

Another issue could be, if you have a cabinet setup, and the receiver is located in the cabinet. Again located around other electronics.

My suggestion, set it up where you can place the receiver about 10-20ft at least away from all your other equipment, and make sure there isn't anything(powerful electronics such as what was mentioned above) in-between the receiver and the area that the mics are going to be used. This should fix the signal problem of cutting in and out. Another thing to check, is battery connections, and the cord from the receiver to your mixer(sound system). Bad cord can cause big problems!

As for the other cons you mentioned. Cord being too short, this is a cheap fix... Wouldn't worry about that. Think you can get a good quality cord 20ft long right here on this site.

This GEM-Sound wireless, I ordered these NEW but they had most definitely been opened before , They came in 2 days, I was NOT impressed with them at all, & FYI they are NOT OMNI directional you have to speak straight into the end, NOT GOOD FOR STAGE WORK, they only worked after turning on the switch twice , the first time you turn it on they don`t connect, I was sitting 3 ft. from the receiver, one of the mic`s was distorting even on low volume. NOT for stage use They are no more than a child`s Toy !!!
I have a NADY Wireless mic light weight & looks cheep but works great on stage, even with the antenna broken completely off the receiver it worked 14 feet away from the box, I have ordered a NADY duo set I hope they are as good as the original one I have. BUT I sent the (( cheep GEN- sound)) back for a refund. Save yourself a lot of trouble & get the NADY`s or pay a couple hundred & get something better. how do I rate these GEM- sound O cause they are NO GEM. ther one star is because you are forced to give at least one star

I bought this unit for a two channel mic system for a nursing home chapel. We use it for the music group and for the attending priest. The only thing we noticed is one channel is a bit lower than the other, but it works just fine on their system.

I was amazed at the sound quality and range of the very "budget" microphones. I bought them to eliminate the 4 wires in a small room with 4 singers. I am very happy with the clarity and range and bought 2 sets and run 4 with no interference.

These sounded better than many others at double the price

            They'll get the job done.

            By Christopher Ward

            from Houston, TX

Comments about Gem Sound GMW-61 Dual Wireless Microphone:

As I said, I use these for a wrestling company. For what I paid, I'm very pleased.
Features...what features? Wireless mics and a receiver. I would have liked dual outputs, one for each mic, but there are volume controls on the front.
I bought these to use for a wrestling company I started running sound for. It runs in a small room (VFW Hall), but you've got large men yelling at each other periodically through the night, in addition to ring announcer duties. There are a few drop outs from time to time, but not many, and usually only when there's a lot of screaming. It's the bodies for the mics and receiver are plastic, so I baby it some. Nobody's tried to break one on somebody's head yet, so I've got that going for me.
For what I paid for the set-up, this is great. I've used it at the three shows in the last 6 weeks, and I've been very pleased, and complimented on how much better everything sounds. Being a decidely paranoid person, I'll probably buy another set somewhere along the line, just in case of weirdness.

I would recommend the brand name and these ones specifically.
This product was exactly what it said it would be. It also has a good pick-up with the vocals.
I have yet to use it much but see it as being able to take a good beating.
For the price it can be bought at it is a great value.

We bought these when first starting out providing sound systems for live events, and they are awful. They cut in and out. The quality is horrible. Even the most professional sound engineers could not get them mixed on our board to give a decent vocal sound. And the fact that both mics come in on the same channel, both singers must be mixed on the same EQ which simply doesnt cut it. Everyone's voice is different, so mixing two different people on one audio channel is a horrible idea. If you are looking for a wireless mic to sing into, save your money. Buy a Shure wireless set. You'll definitely get better sound quality and more reliability.

This is the second set of these Mics I have purchase. The first set, I let to many people put their hands on the Mics, everybody wants to be a MC and eventually the mics where destroyed. They work very well for the price and I never had a problem with the Mics, just people and my inability to say "NO".

Comments about Gem Sound GMW-61 Dual Wireless Microphone:

I am a mobile DJ and purchased this item based on a recommendation from the GC employee. The item was on sale and figured it would be worth a try. It seemed to work fine when I tested it at the house...but when I took it to the venue, it started cutting in and out even around 5 to 10 feet from the receiver. I was embarrassed and had the client switch to wired microphone immediately. Since then I decided to upgrade to Shure wireless microphones, and haven't used this. I would recommend any professional users to go for something better. This is a good option for close proximity use, i.e. Karaoke, home, etc. but not for pro use. You get what you pay for.

Comments about Gem Sound GMW-61 Dual Wireless Microphone:

We use pretty high end Shure wireless mics at our church, and for our praise team, we have about eight SM58's. But I saw these advertised recently on Black Friday, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to get some supplimental mics. I bought two sets. I assumed they'd be Karaoke quality at best... BOY WAS I WRONG. We ran it through our mixer board, and tested it. We couldn't MAKE it feed back. Maybe because it's not a very strong mic? But it worked in our favor. We are able to mix and EQ all four of them perfectly. Our pastor was 'amused', so he asked if he could preach through one last Sunday. Went off without a hitch. Every now and then, it would clip, or cut out a word, but no more than much higher quality Shure's have in the past. In all, I was very, very impressed.

For the price the Mic's really are good. In the band I do mostly MCing and few backup vocals, the mic works very well for what I use it for. Don't think I would use the mic for lead vocals. I like the dual inputs but only 1 output to the PA I don't like. If each mic had it's own input to the board they would be Great!
