This unit is good, from the standpoint of the mixer itself and the dual CD units/case/headphones/mic. The powered speakers are grossly disappointing, though; only 25 watts of power.... They're suitable for a living room or great room, but not much else. If you're looking to do any actual DJ work (other than really small parties) you'll find yourself having to go out and purchasing a decently powerful amp and speakers to go with this package.
I purchased a Disc-o-mix basically just to try it out; This thing didn't look the best, but I thought hey, why not? I can always return it. FYI, I did. Now, this thing is by all means not the worst you can buy, but I was a little disappointed. For starters, there is no jog wheel and no looping feature. You can't loop beats very well, and it's harder to find a spot on the CD you want to play. The quality is nice, there weren't any real problems with my unit.Value is pretty good for for the money when you add it all together... But look at it this way. They basically give you their worst CD player, the CDJ-15, and their worst mixer the PMX-350 (which I can't even find on their site anymore). But when you add it all up, the fact that they give you two CD players, a mixer, and everything you need to make them work, then that is a good deal. Although, folks, I think that if you want to stick with Gemini you should get a pair of CDJ-02s, although I myself am using the money I got back the the Disc-o-mix 2.0 on a Pioneer CDJ-800.Now, there's one type of DJ that I think really would enjoy this. I think the type that just plays music, with little editing involved and little personal touch, really, would enjoy this. The type that just plays the CD, and moves on to the next. Like a DJ who plays at an ice rink or something. The type of DJ who wants to scratch (NOTE: THERE IS NO SCRATCHING FEATURE ON THIS UNIT) and produce their own music, like me, wouldn't like this.My opinion is to save the extra dollars for vinyl emulation, folks, because if you want to move up, you'll get it eventually. Why not save up now?
Nice system, would be better with some bigger speakers
