In the right applications these will perform adequately. Will not take anything over half volume before clipping light comes on. Now that said they are very loud at half volume but do not have any reserve. Keep in mind they are only rated at 150 watts and the included booklet gives a spec of 125 RMS and I would say this is a more accurate description of the useful power. I bought 4 of these for floor monitors. I play in a Christian contemporary band and also use these as portable mains and they do the job very well for vocals and play back music. Very light weight, quick and easy to set up. I did not go with the APS15's because of the difference in size. I needed portability. For what they are they sound great. As soon as I unpackaged them I set all four up and cranked some playback music to the point of the clip light popping on at the loud transients. Left them burn in at this level for 24 hours. There was a smell from the heat sinks as they do get very warm under heavy load but after the break in period the smell went away. That is not unusual for this type of equipment. I saw earlier reviews about a burning smell and people returning them for that reason. You have plastic cabinets and aluminium heat sinks that were painted black and there sole function is to pull heat away from the power transistors in the cabinet. I teach electronics and that is to be expected. They should probably explain that in the literature. After the break in period the smell will go away.
Now as far as performance again apples to apples these are not high end Mackie's or QSC's but I give them high marks for sound quality in their price range. The 5 band EQ is OK but I find leaving the EQ flat or rolling the low frequency off (250HZ) a little and using the EQ from the mixer was the best combination. The last venue was a room with 300 people having dinner. I had a vocalist and keyboard player with 2 of these for mains on stands and 2 as floor monitors. Then a stand-up comic during the breaks. Everywhere in the room the vocals were very clear and intelligible. If you're a metal band with very loud music these will not fit the bill. I'd say great for rehearsal rooms small venues and light weight portability simple controls. I have only had these 2 months so long term reliability is still an unknown.

I got this new for $150 shipped with a free speaker stand to go with the 15" that my wife uses in her acoustic band. The amp has more hum than the 15" one which is surprisingly free of noise so you know the quality control on this unit is pretty low. Also the woofer was wired out of phase so I had to take it apart and fix that right away. As a cheap monitor with built in mixer it works fine (for low spl situations) but I would not expect miracles at this price point.

Neede sound system for our quilt guild meetings and annual quilt show. We are older women and needed something easy to use. This sound system is awesome! It is light enough for us to lift and manipulate and it is super easy to use!

This arrived just in time for my 2nd gig ever. I have a TC-Helicon VLP GTX and hookup was a breeze (works much better than the aux in on my guitar amp). I am very pleased with the sound quality, there is not much (if any) hum or buzz. I have plugged in the Mic and Guitar directly and sounds great that way too. I wish it had Phantom Power for a Condenser Mic, but The TC-Helicon has that.

For the price on sale, I wish I would have purchased a pair.

I've only used this one time so far, but I liked what I heard for that performance. I use it mostly as a monitor for myself, and it gets run through the PA system, but so far, so good.

Comments about Harbinger APS12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

This is my first foray into amplified music and I like this PA. I thought I was getting a small amp type PA which is what I wanted and was surprised at how heavy it is and the quality! I think I got much more than I paid for it! We used it at our monthly jam for vocals only and it was a hit. I guess if I had a wish I would like to have had phantom power since most of my mikes require that. Bought a separate phantom power set and I guess I am good to go.
The weight is both a blessing and a challenge, I can carry the PA but not very far. I would guess that is the quality coming through because this PA looks and feels durable!

Comments about Harbinger APS12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

Our band has bought 3 of these 150 watt/12" Harbinger powered speakers. For the price paid they are a great value. We use 2 of them on stands as a PA in small nightclub venues with 100 people or less, and they are plenty loud enough for this. Anything bigger and you would probably want more wattage. Our singer also uses one as a floor monitor.

Knock on wood, but we've had no electrical or technical issues whatsoever with the Harbingers.

In the course of experimenting with the Harbingers for a couple of years we discovered a few items worthy of note:

            - Acoustic/electric guitars sound really good (clean) through the Harbingers, better than through the various guitar amps we've tried. Think intro to "Hotel California" and "Classical Gas".

            - The Harbingers work surprisingly well as a stand-alone bass amp in a pinch. Guess how we know this...

            - The simple on-board equalizer allows a surprisingly good overall sound when mixing instruments as diverse as drums, guitars, and vocals.

So... if your venues are small-to-medium and your band is on a budget the Harbingers deliver a really great sound for little coin.

I ordered two of these back in December, and got an incredible price.

One of the speakers had a strange ringing sound, that kind of made a "MEOW" sound on mid-range sounds like, individual toms from my Roland TD-4. MF sent me a replacement speaker, and paid for shipping both ways.

Good, cheap speaker. Great service. Thanks guys!

Comments about Harbinger APS12 12" Powered PA Speaker:

I need to provide sound Downtown this New Year's Eve for more rooms than I'm accustomed to handling, and needed a couple more active speakers, just one more stage monitor, and one just for speech in a medium-sized area. (If, after the shows they don't perform as expected, I'll update the review.)

Knowing I won't need these again until next New Year's Eve, I didn't want to spend too much, so I found these, referbs, for a good price.

When I unboxed them, I was first impressed with the solid feel, plus they look really nice, which is important 'cause I'm getting paid well for this.

I first made sure they worked with the mic patched straight in, then patched in a laptop and played some music, and I'm satisfied that the volume is sufficient for my needs.

As for sound quality, I didn't expect them to hold a candle to my RCFs, but they sound good enough for what I'll be using them for, and the on-board EQ will be useful to further tailor them to the purpose.

If you bump up the bass they clip waaay faster (and they don't really "bang"), but they're inexpensive 12" cabs, so that shouldn't be expected. I will say that flat, they have a balanced sound and the bass was there.

So, in my opinion, these would work well for stage monitors, even for a loudish rock band. Also sufficient for mains in small/mid-sized venues so long as you don't intend to really rock the house, and if you need any deep bass or kick, you'll definitely need a sub. For garage/basement-band vocal practice, if they're not loud enough, the guitard needs to turn down.

                  Hope this helps.
