I bought this to run my Roland TD-9SX through. I had been debating between a PA and a drum monitor, but I figured a PA would provide more utility in the long run, so I went with this. It's now become my monitor system for my laptop studio at home, as well, running from the outs on my audio interface directly into the amp without taking up a channel. It's got a surprisingly nice range, and the low end hits hard, even when only turned up about 1/3 of the way. I haven't had a chance to really crank it yet, but I'm willing to bet its got some meat to it.

Unfortuantely there aren't a lot of EQ options: only a low, mid, & high for the master, and a low & high on each channel. I don't really have much fine tuning to perform but it would be nice to have the option. Serious EQing would need to run through a standalone mixer first. The knobs seem kind of cheap too, but it's definitely not a dealbreaker.

Would have been nice to have received speaker stands with it, as well, but for the price, it's a great deal.

I've only used this PA for one outside gig and was very pleased with it's performance. Also ran it through it's paces in the basement before the gig. Worked well and was easy to use, compact and light. I got this to use instead of my heavier and bulkier unit. I'm hoping it will be a durable PA. I run vocals and Music arraingers while playing guitar and this had all the power I needed outside. I play in venues that don't like to be blasted, but I had more than enough power.

What I needed

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

It does the job! I used this system for a live show combined with a 8 channel mixer, speaker stands, and a beringer 3000fx for stage monitor. I'm excited to used all the same equipment for DJing too, with the beringer providing the bass
This PA system is mono and only has a delay effect.
the speaker handles feel like very cheap plastic but the speakers are light enough to not really worry,
I searched all over online stores and craigslist and could not find a cheaper way to get a reliable PA amp and 2 speakers

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

This system is great! I went xlr out of my Behringer X1222 mixer into the pa mixer and after a few minutes of setting up the equalization this system sounds awesome!! We use 12s at our church for floor monitors and these are much better sounding. The mixer itself is a little heavier than expected and it is pretty limited to its functions. The delay really isnt that great either. The actual speakers are different though! They are lightweight, clear, and the bass really packs it for the size. Over all I am very pleased with this system! You get more than you payed for on this one.

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

Particle board has less resonance than plywood-BUT don't drop it. Good speaker/woofer balance. Crossover not a cheep design. I bought these for a non profit group on a low budget. I was going to replace the horn/driver but its fine as is. Not meant for metal or punk, reggae.(get some 18" and more horsepower amp). BTW amp has a REAL power supply: weight tells all. Best for vocals or stuff---light rock. (come on--wanna trash? Get out your check book).

Cons

  • Not enough power

Best Uses

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

This PA is great for practice. Enough channels for vocals and acoustic guitars. Does not take up too much space either. That being said, it does not have enough power to play a gig with it. I've tried multiple times and it just does not cut it. Its not a very expensive PA so I really can't expect it to be able to do everything. All in all good PA for practice.

    Amazing deal

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I just bought this thing at guitar center after this really helpful guy showed us what it sounds like with his ipod. For the price this is unbeatable. i did however give it a 4.5 out of 5 for features because it has no reverb. Despite having a delay i do miss the reverb but i will just buy a seperate reverb unit. i use this mainly for my acoustic and i love the 1/4 inch and xlr inputs so that you have the option of both. the low end is also pretty amazing. highly recomended

    HA120

    By Django Lachlan

    from Ogden Utah

Comments about Harbinger HA120 Portable PA System:

I bought this little system back in July, 2010. Our drummer, who owned the p.a. quit without notice. after scraping up as much money as I could, I started shopping for used stuff online. All I found was old junk that didn't work. I bought this HA120 without even testing it, at the recomendation of the salesman, he told me it was the best bang for the buck. It has done a great job for small venues. I am in a blues/rock band, we only run vocals through it. the only downside is if you are overly aggressive and eat the mic (which you shouldn't need to) the speakers will clip. We still use this setup for small clubs, even though we have a bigger system for bigger clubs. It is really best suited for acoustic gigs, but in a pinch, it has done great for me. I have considered buying another one to use as a monitor system.

    Thanks for reading.
