First of all, take a look at Waves GTR3 at less than half the price. It's twice the plugin this is.Don't like the interface, and the sounds were so-so. But the biggest down side to this plugin is it's a cpu killer. I mean, it will suck your system dry after only a couple instances. Don't bother. Both GTR3 and Pod Farm are much easier on the system and offer more, especially GTR3.
I love this software, because it allows me to get all of the sounds out of my head through my speakers. It has allowed me to experiment with pedals like envelope filters that I probably never would have used otherwise. Contrary to most, I think everything in this software sounds great. Will it replace all of your studio guitar-recording gear? Most likely not, but it makes things more convenient, especially when you factor in the ability to save presets that encompass every setting, right down to separate noise-gate settings. I only have two problems with this software: it takes technical know-how to get it to work very low-latency AND low-noise, especially if you have non-ASIO sound hardware. But if you know what you are doing and are willing to work to get it to work, the sounds this can make for you are wonderful. My other problem is, if you're using this as a VST processor in something like Cubase, etc., it uses a good deal of processor power and has a habit of getting my computer to crash, so I record while monitoring it, then turn it off until I'm doing my final mastering. Lastly, I think this costs too much, but considering the ridiculous amount of features, it's good. Better than Line 6, but only if you take the time to make it work well.
This software is at the bottom of the barrel. Good luck getting it work properly, getting the IK site work, or getting any tech support. THIS COMPANY IS THE WORST I HAVE ALMOST EVER SEEN AT PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT. My experience goes back 29yrs. Buy GR3 or 11 or anything else, believe me, it will not only sound better, but it will actually work as represented. Good luck to you guys!
If you don't have a way to record your guitar this just might be for you. You can produce good sounds from this. It is fun to mess around with all of the fx and amps. You can make some pretty good recordings with it. I get some noise too, I haven't tried the asio4all fix, though I just thought some of the amps were noiser than others, maybe I was wrong. Guitar Rig 3 is a bit better sounding and easier to use, but Amplitude is a still decent piece of software that I return to over and over again for certain sounds.
Great sounds can be produced by this, and it looks pretty cool too. There pretty much NO menus though, which can make finding things harder. I also haven't found out how to turn off the noise compressor, and since a lot of people don't want it on all the time, that can be bad. If you are getting massive lag and buzzing/popping sounds when you use it, download ASIO4ALL and change the driver mode in Amplitube to asio, which will fix that. Overall pretty good, but a little hard to find presets with no menus. Wahs are also almost useless without a foot controller
Simply put when it comes to sound quality it's better that POD xt but it's worse than guitar rig 2. IK made ampeg svx which rocks but amplitube is not as good as ampeg it buzzes and the sound is not so good or live. It's really good for recording.
