My main mission for this product was live use playing my Bass with minimal cables. I was using a USB interface with my Macbook and an Ampeg Amp set up flat in order to take advantage of my Ampeg SVX Software amp modeling features. This cable replaced the complicated interfaces that I was using and going to the "House" Sound board. I am NOT using the "Headphones Out" jack from the steathplug. I go directly out from my Laptop out to the amp and soundboard. There is no latency issues. The mac already comes with the "Driver" for the plug so you just connect and play. If you are going to go live with it, you MUST disable the "Feedback" check mark in audio preferences or the click sound from the computer will sound live when you adjust the volume using the plug.Yes it is noisy if you use it with guitars. The reason is that this is a "Hi-Gain" plug. Not a regular balanced or "Low-gain" line inputs like in other systems. I used the noise gate feature to clean up the "noise" when not playing. Also, you MUST adjust audio gain in the "Sound Preferences" Window"Overall, I like it, But I wish the cable was a little longer. If possible buy the "Real" Amplitube 2 for guitar or the Ampeg SVX for Bass. You have Many more options thatn the toned-down Live program with the plug.

A guitar-to-usb interface? Genius! Sadly, it doesn't quite live up to the promise. Got this thing today, installed the software, and was very disappointed. The interface is noisy as hell, when you can hear it at all. The drivers it installs overrides your standard ASIO drivers, and I couldn't get it to send the sound out to anywhere but the headphone out on the stealth plug. What I heard when I plugged into that output, to put it plainly, sucked.Amplitube, the software it comes with however, is another story. What I ended up doing is running a regular guitar cable from my guitar output straight into the line-in on the back of my computer, and used amplitube with that, and voila! Sounds great! And with decent tracking software (like Nuendo, what I used), you can record the raw guitar signal, use ampitube as an effect plugin, and swap out amps, mics, cabs, et cas you see fit. Recorded with a Marshall tone but think Fender would sound better? No problem! You can even switch tones while listening to the recording playback. Save your money and just buy the software...For the record, I was using amplitube 2.0, not the "live" version that comes with the hardware.

I had the same problems as almost everyone else. Lots of hiss, Lots of hassle. As far as getting it to work properly, I have gone back to using a mike & amp while saving up for a new interface. I did learn that less money is usually more hassle.

Comments about IK Multimedia StealthPlug Guitar/Bass USB Audio Interface Cable + AmpliTube 2 Live Software:

For me, using a newer MacBook Pro, this product could not have been simpler. Plug in and play, after installing the AmpliTube Live software. I did not have the issue with noise that others have experienced and the included software was fun and the amp modeling is stellar. Maybe it's the difference between using Windows and Mac OS X. I liked it so much, I went out and purchased the AmpliTube Jimi Hendrix version and have the AmpliTube Fender on order. I originally purchased the StealthPlug as a USB interface for the lastest version of Apple's GarageBand and it works great for that as well. Apple includes a compatible driver in their system software. Now, I can play my guitar through the interface and have a very realistic sound through headphones and practice in the Family Room at night while my family is watching TV and I don't need to go to the basement and "crank" some amps. A wonderful, fun product highly recommended.

This is the interface OEM recommends for their Amplitude Metal and Fender SW packages. Easy to install and plugs right into USB Port. Headphones plug onto this interface. Sound quality of Amplitude SW is good but the big draw back is there is background noise....not unlike a real tube amp. If they could eliminate the noise this would be better. I thought it was a bit pricey as well but not terrible. However, the amplitude SW is great and this is the easiest way to get started.

So I got this bundle today and have been trying to get it work for 6 F****** HOURS NOW! There's the hissing problem with the output, and then programs that come bundled with it don't ever work in conjunction with each other. Not only that, the manufacturers become silent when questioned on this. It's ridiculous.

Had a tough time getting the product registered for use, then found that you had to download the amps shown on the package and had a hard time figuring out how to use the speed trainer as the manual is poorly written (I am still waiting clear instructions on how to do this from the manufacturer)…all in all I was pumped to try this out but must admit was disappointed and frustrated getting started using it.

My son and I have used Traction to record our own tracks and blend them together with no real issues to speak of. Overall a decent product for the money.

I bought this hoping I could turn my cpu into a low end studio. I have a Sony VAIO and could not get the sound to work correctly. Don't know if it was me, my cpu, the product or a combination. Alot of "hiss" with the effects, especially distortion/overdrive. I got decent sound out of my bass; just standard bass and no effects. But the guitar was another story, all hiss all the time. I could minimize it by choosing a bass amp for the guitar, but if you wanted to use any stacks or brit sounds...hiss. Like an angry snake! The amplitude software was pretty cool. Great learning tool for someone needing to see how to lay out effects pedals. I tried to find a way to just use it, but couldn't get it to work. All in all if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

Purchased StealthPlug so I could record and listen at the same time without any latency. Very excited when I first plugged into computer and listened to the sound via earphones. More excited whem I played around with Amplitude. But quickly went downhill after that. Soon got major distortion, similar to a radio that is not tuned in to a station. When I tried using the recording software, Traktion, same type of distortion would occur when using Traktion filters, and even if I did not use filters. Since recording was my main purpose, the device and software have become useless to me. Have tried working with the IK Media support team. Although they try to be helpful, the response time is very long (days or weeks) and to this date, several months after purchasing the unit, I have yet to record more than once without encountering significant distortion. Perhaps I have a defective unit, so maybe you will have better luck than I.

So there's not much to say, is a very fine product, has a lot of features like Mackie traction and other plug-in's, but I just wanted an audio interface for my guitar and a good sound. I just want to say that I just want a product like this, but with full guitar software, forget all the audio editing and the plug-in's. I just want to rock with my guitar and my computer if that's possible.

I bought this device and figured it was just another electronic device that would get shelved after a couple weeks. I?ve had it almost a month and I still love it. The quality of it isn?t that great. I would hardly plug into my guitar at first. The male connection was warped or something, but I got it in and its fine now. I wish the volume was rotary and not push button but it works. The drivers are great and worked great with amplitube full version and Guitar Rig 2. I must say I?ve been using guitar rig 2 much more than amplitube with the stealth plug though. I will focus on amplitube 2 live since its what ships with the stealthplug. It?s very cool, and sounds much better than I thought it would. I?ve been playing for almost 20 years, and I?ve had a lot of different gear. I have a lot of gear now that I haven?t used in a month since buying this, and might not use much again since I can get better sounds than ever before. I?m into blues and hard rock. The sweet bluesy sounds are great as well and the hard rock crunch. I am very happy I got it and I recommend trying guitar rig 2 also with it.
