Hot little system

By Jim

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

I purchased the system in mid February. The outside shipping box was a little wet from the shipper in Kansas, but everything was thankfully dry in the product box. Hooked up the system to a CD player with reference music in a 16x18 room. The sound was great at a nominal level, very clear, nice lows and clear highs. Pushed the volume and the speakers responded nicely - very clear, good response for a full range two-way speaker system. After awhile I noticed that the mixer got hot underneath to the touch. Measured the temp over time with music playing, the under side of the board stayed at about 103.7 degrees. This seemed a little hot for an ambient room temperature of 80 degrees, but the sound quality did not seem affected by this over several hours of playing music, tracks and vocals through the speakers. The coverage of the speakers when walking around the room is great, no "hotspots" or dropoffs of the program material that I could notice. The system is very portable and light, although the storage container will not really hold much more than the power cords and a few speaker cables. This is not a system I would use for a band that plays beyond a nominal level, but they would work well for a small acoustic band and an audience up to several hundred and speech and multimedia in rooms up to moderate size. The mixing board gives enough flexibility to not have to bring an additional rack of equipment if all you need is a couple of mics and a line input or two. The built-in digital effects sound good, although having the ability to turn them off via a wireless device or a switch would have been nice for an individual or small act that would use the effects during music, but want them off while speaking. The construction of the speakers seems good. The hardware that attaches the storage container and mixer to the back of the speakers is adequate, I am hoping that they will hold up over time, but so far so good. The 1/4" speaker jacks on the back are covered up with the storage boxes and the mixing board when they are attached, this can't be seen in any of the photos I saw of the speakers.JBL has brought their quality brand to the small to mid size gig with these speakers - they are definately worth the money in terms of the sound quality an audience will experience with them.

Very High Quality Portable PA

By MWB

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

I've owned the following PA systems before recently purchasing the JBL 210P: Kustom Profile 2 (300w), Peavey Escort 2000, Yamaha StagePass 500, and Bose L1 Compact. All of these systems had strong points, but had shortcomings that led me to continue to search for a better portable PA. The biggest issue I had with these systems was either a lack of, or poor quality on-board reverb. This is where the JBL excels... unbelievable crystal clear "airy" sound... high-quality reverb. Also, we have a large Yamaha-based PA system which we use for larger venues... and the Yamaha has great sound. The true test came when my 5-man group tested the system with the speakers on either side of us - slightly behind us so we could have them dually function as monitors & mains. We used a combiner/splitter for our two bass singers into channel 4, and acoustic into channels 5/6 RCA via a 1/4"-> 1/4" splitter. The guys are pretty particular about the sound we get, and they were impressed to the point that they want to use this over a in-house PA system at a local church that will be seating 200+ people. The combination of JBL speaker technology, Crown amplifier, Soundcraft mixer is a winning combination!! Lastly, the weight & and compactness of this system vs. the quality & volume of sound makes this a strong buy for those wanting high quality sound from a small package.

JBL did a super job on this pa!!!

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

I use this pa for small gigs. I sing ,play guitar and harmonica through it. I also play my acoustic guitar through a acoustasonic 30 Fender and run the fender 30 through the pa. I am really happy with this pa. I have been playing guitar for 48 years, have seen a lot of equipment, this little pa is really nice. Also I have a bad back so I appreciate the lightness.

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

The best and clear system money can buy! Sure it's only 300 watts but has 124 SPL! A lot of power! I would say this is ideal for pro vocals, and guitars. Buy a sub woofer with it and you have a full system! The system is so clear to the ear, no distortion just pure audio. The only downside is the sound board has no gain switch, or mid. not a big issue because I prefer my highs just up a bit for vocals. If you want pro sound in a small package then buy it! could not ask for more, Jbl produces some clear natural audio systems.

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

With my previous set-up, I ran out of inputs, especially for mics (I play keyboards and used a Traynor K4 amp/PA). The Traynor has some great bass & sounds great for guitar too(being a tube amp) but vocals wasn't really considered too much for this amp. So enter the JBL EON! It really fills this void perfectly! I run primarily all vocals thru this and the combo of the 2 really works well. The EON works well for the smaller venues by itself, but for a larger setup (100-200) this combo I'm using is the cat's meow!

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

I've used my old band's PA for five years running, and while it sounds great, the speakers are heavy and bulky (quality in weight, especially from JBL). I'm in my mid-40's, and most of my performances are now solo in coffeehouses, smaller clubs, and house concerts, so I needed something lighter, more portable that still sounded great.

I used the EON201P for the first time last weekend. Not only is this PA easy to carry/setup/breakdown, but it sounds great. I also dig the PA's small profile; you barely even notice it, which is nice when you're playing a small club and don't want to be caverned by big speakers.

My only negative comment is that after one use, the carry compartment that clips on to the back of the speaker is already compromised, so I'm not sure how durable the package will be over the years (in its original design, that is - I'm certain the speakers and powered head will hold up just fine).

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

After years of lugging around my large, heavy M-Pro series JBLs, I finally found a great alternative in a small, easy to setup and handle PA system. I used this last night for the first time, and admittedly, although the systems does not have the same punch, it easily filled the hotel bar area at which I performed, and the clarity and precision of sound delivery was great. I do wish JBL had included a small EQ (5-7 band) to tweak some of the frequencies, but this is a nit-picky comment, and the overall pros of the system far outweigh this tiny oversight.

Comments about JBL EON 210P Portable PA System:

I have played and sung for 30yrs and used a multitude of PA systems. This little unit stands up to anything else I have heard and then some. Before buying this one I tried the Yamaha and Fender versions and the JBL was better in tone as well as functionality. Where the JBL really excels is in the vocals. Singing is very clear and distinct with excellent reverb quality. Additionally the amount reverb can be controlled individually for each channel unlike some other units. For me this was a big plus. Also when packed-up the sound board turns in and is protected by the speaker for transport. Again this is not the same as some other competitors. For a couple of vocalists and a couple of guitars or piano's for up to about 200 people this unit is really impressive. I need to also mention that I live in Canada and had the opportunity to experience the customer support team at Musicians Friend. I am happy to say that I was completely impressed with their level of service and support. I will not hesitate to order from them again.
