OVERVIEW

A state-of-the-art powered cab.

Protection circuitry shuts down amps if overheating occurs and a system of aluminum fins provides active cooling for the whole system. A good general purpose powered unit. I use them around a campus as PA speakers, floor monitors, studio monitors, and even hook them to my computer sound card to annoy the guy in the next office.Good clean sound across the spectrum, though I wish there was some modest equalization possible. If you want bass, you need to EQ it in on your board. For monster bass, you'll need a sub. Power supply and on/off are on opposite side of the unit from volume, input and output, and mic/line level switch. Any number can be daisy-chained without the impedence issues that arise with standard monitors. Accessing the mic/line switch is not friendly for harried techies working in low-light conditions. As monitors, these will rock back on their tall axis and sit well, though they won't comfortably lie sideways like a typical wedge. Units can be stacked, but they're not particularly stable in that position.Overall, these are good general purpose units. I will investe in more of these rather than buying more non-powered monitors, given the flexibility these powered units offer.

If you want loud without much concern for linearity or frequency range they are good value. It will pump very loud bass but the performance rolls off severly below 100 Hz. Despite the 15 inch driver the base range is lack lustre. A Mackie SRM450 has better bass with a 12 inch driver though it won't go as loud. There is almost nothing in the high frequencies above 12 KHz. This is how they can claim a wide horn performance. It is equally lacking straight in front as it is at a wider dispersion. Take a look at the specs which back my observations. The product description reads like an electrical engineering achievement in weight reduction but there is actually very little regard for acoustic performance.

After a year and a half....

By Dad-J_4Oe

I bought 2 of these 18 months ago to act as the guts for a small PA to handle 2 vocals and 2 acoustic guitars. They have been absolutely fantastic in that application, and I've also been using them as floor monitors for my full band for the past 6 months. I think they make better mains than monitors, but that's mostly because I'd prefer to have them carpeted and have a lower center of gravity if you're going to use them as monitors...it has nothing to do with how they sound, which is fantastic. They cost a bit more than I wanted to spend when I first bought them, but they've been dropped, rained on, slung around in the back of my truck, and otherwise abused, and they've been well worth the price.I'll say this, though...I do not recommend running a kick drum through them at any appreciable volume...when I use them for monitors and run a kick through them, I CAN distort them with my vocal...of course, you'd never run a vocal as loud through these as mains as I run my vocal using them as monitors.

100 Gigs and Still Working Great!

I've done at least 100 gigs with 1 pair of these EONs. Highs are crisp, Bass is full (but its not a subwoofer), plenty of volume for a small venue. I've used these for up to 300 person gigs--both indoors and out. They don't need a subwoofer unless you're really driving the bass guitar or bass drum through the PA.They also make great monitors. And I've used them as a keyboard amp, too.

Great sound, not enough knobs, hisses

Great sound and projects well, no 1/4" in jack, and hisses softly when no input is present. Needs a few more knobs for adjustments!

I have four of these, 2 for FOH and 2 for monitors. They kick butt and they work great in the clubs - plenty of head room.

Great

By orcorock

This speaker amp is really cool if you are a singer and want to make your band - this speaker has power enough to play in outplaces. For me, it's not neccessary to have an EQ system cause it just sounds great! What can I say, it's JBL!?
