For those who prefer the simplicity of a self-powered subwoofer, there's the JBL JRX118SP 18" Compact Powered Subwoofer Cabinet. JBL started with the same woofer used in the non-powered JRX118S and added a specially designed amplifier with 500W (peak) and 300W (continuous) power output. The stereo crossover network is great for systems with EON or other powered satellite speakers. Peak limiter that protects the amplifier and speaker from clipping.

I recently borrowed a pair of these and both embarraced me while playing at a wedding were I was the only live entertainment(DJ) the on/off switch on both kept flicking on and off. WARNING DONT BUY!!!! unless your live sound is suppose to leave you in shame.

This sub is a decent buy. I had one for about a week and boxed it up. The features are not to impressive but it definitley has that great jbl quality sound. I would definitly spend a bill more and get the eon or prx. Its really not to loud either. I want to fill the bass in my chest where this sub did not do that for me.

this sub was one of my best buys in my books i now own 4 of them for live sound and they work like a charm, u just need to use a indapentant speaker manegment system to get the full power and qolity from them, i use them with the G2 15" EON and they complet the sound. used them for about a year now and never had any problems and have always sounded grate.

I bought just one, used a while back hoping to find another, this box hits hard. I use the booth output on my dj mixer {unbalanced} to control it. I use just one all the time, in big school gyms & cafeterias "NO PROBLEM" you just need to know how to set the volume/ frequency on active speakers to prevent hard clipping.

I've used these before, they are alright for DJ's but dont expect any special or out of the ordinary with them. They seem underpowered, and sound like it when you really turn them up. The kick drum would hit and seem like that fade out into a rumble. I would recommend this for DJing, but never for live sound.

I have two of these. I use them to do house and small clubs as a DJ. NO additional equipment used, straight from mixer to speakers.

You need to run your signal through your own crossover to get the most out of this subwoofer. Using your own crossover can get rid of that "punchy" effect and even floor rumble if you wanted to. It is the greatest sub for it's size, price, and features. Very high quality and crisp sound. Far better than Mackie 18" subs.

Great Cabinet - works in all situations. Ads stark bottom end to my Mackie setup. Very punchy. Very true.

This sub has a very powerful output. It rocks. It makes everything in my house (3,200 sq ft) vibrate when cranked up with my V-Drums.
