Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

I purchased these last year and i've used them for various shows large rooms and also out door shows, and these speakers rock! I have pushed these speakers to the point that i thought they could'nt even handle i thought i was pushing my luck but let me tell you i was wrong these babies can take a beating they sound great!! I run a qsc gx5 amp these speakers run in 4ohms so i'm pushing 750 watts continuous to each channel. and let me tell you these speakers are worth the money. I recommend anyone to buy these you wont be dissapointed.

Superb old-school cabs

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

Unlike modern powered cabs, (which definitely have some advantages) these relatively simple cabs need only one cable (the speaker cable) to hook them up. That greatly reduces setup complexity, hassle and time expenditure. You don't have to worry about EMI from power cables running near signal cables, grounds loops, separate outlets, extra AC filters etc.Sound quality is excellent, assuming you use an adequate amplifier. As for those who claim they need an extra sub...You must realize that in ANY enclosed space, the room can only handle so much low end. Once the room reaches a maximum SPL at low frequencies (150 or lower) you CANNOT get any appreciable increase in low-end volume. You only create phase problems, which translate to confusing low-end mud. These things go as low as any sane sober person ever would want, and they would certainly satisfy most crazy high people too. The advantage to JBL's clever design here is that ALL the low end comes from a single PLANE, the front baffle of this cab. That insures your low-end is not only low and loud, but phase coherent. The frequency response is nearly flat down to 50 Hz and within + / - 10dB down to 38Hz.That smooth low-end roll-off is beneficial. It helps prevent "room loading."So unless you are playing outdoors, where the physics of acoustics change drastically, these cabinets are a great idea. Also, they DO NOT reproduce very high frequencies VERY loudly. That's good inside a reverberant room. High frequencies are more directional than low frequencies, and they are also more reverberant. That means they reflect from surfaces like walls, ceilings, furniture etc. The net effect is that too much long-throw high end will "smear" the room with unpleasant and uncontrollable harshness. Short throw high end is an entirely different thing, but compression-drivers coupled to horns are definitely "long-throw" devices. Here again, JBL's engineers know their business, and they made these things to compensate for room acoustics. These are basically flat from 50 to 12kHz. (the central "bulk" of musical frequencies) Then they taper off at the very problematic super low-end, (below 50 cycles) and taper off above 12kHz. That makes your mixes sound better with less high-tech gadgetry and far less complexity. That means: good sound with less expense, less hassle. Are these super hi-fidelity across the entire audible range? NO. For most rock bands, that is also a good thing. These will sound very clear yet "warm" to most people. When you take everything into consideration, these old school cabs solve a lot of problems automatically. No; They are NOT intended for ridiculous super low-end. No; they do not provide ruler flat response up to 20kHz.However, in most situations, those are good traits. If you do numerous outdoor concerts at very high volumes, you will need a different system with MUCH more speaker area and a mix of long-throw and near-field high-frequency devices. If you play in tall theaters or stadiums, you will need a splayed line array system with subs and sophisticated software control to get professional dispersion, frequency response and projection to every seat in the house. For most rock bands, these cabs do a fantastic job because they are designed by trained acousticians who understand the laws of physics. They did the hard science so all you have to do is hook up your amps and rock. The only reason I deducted one half point for value and features is I believe they should come with casters and a handle for this price. For simplicity, power, dispersion and musical reproduction, these are hard to beat at any price.

Superb

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

Excellent speakers. In my book, it doesn't get any better for the money. I've been playing in touring bands for years and I've also used mine at home (for casual music listening) and these are definitely top-notch in both situations. I use a Mackie mixer coupled with either a dbx DriveRack or just an equalizer and crossover; in both conditions, I use two QSC RMX 2450 amps (one for the JBL pair and one for a pair of Electro Voice iForce 18" subs). Although these amps could probably make anything sound good, I am very impressed with the JBLs' performance.

Excellent sound after driver upgrade

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

We use a pair of these speakers for our contemporary worship services in a medium-small room. When pushed even a little we found the highs to be shrill and brittle - very unpleasant to listen to. After a bit of research I found this was a fairly common complaint and that there was a simple, inexpensive solution: replace the high freq. drivers, which we did. We purchased a pair of Selenium 220 drivers for $40/ea and spent about 25 minutes replacing both of them - a really simple operation, as the drivers simply thread onto the horns. The difference in sound was amazing. Warm, richly detailed sound with not even a hint of shrillness. With this minimal upgrade, these speakers sound awesome, even when pushed. I have always preferred the sound of EV to JBL, but after the upgrade these easily sound better than the far costlier EV's I've worked with. Many folks love these speakers as-is. But if you buy them and find that you want more warmth and openness on the high end, you can absolutely get that. Either way you just can't lose with these speakers.

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

I purchased two about 4 years ago, added another pair 2 years ago. I have never had a complaint, lack of sound (volume, frequency range). I added a couple of oversized 18" sub cabinets, but I hardly use them. The are there more for looks and work well as speaker stands for the JRX's. Folks think "ALL" the bottom end is coming from the 18" subs, when the JRX's are actually the source of the chest pounding.Have had no problems at ALL with these speakers!

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

I have four of these cabinets and they are good for small and medium size places. They sound very well but you need to put them a little high to take good advantage on the sound. I dont recommend them for very small size venues since I have a pair of yamaha club series that work better with the stands. I think that The electro voice force i full range are better but this cabinets are very good for the price and if you carry them with another person they are not heavy.

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

For the price these speakers are great!I use them for monitors, side fills, stuff like that. They sound great and have enough power! Great start for a point source system! They can be used as mains for a smaller venue, you know 100 person crowd and lower. But anything above that I might suggest moving up to a more powerful speaker and amp. (Unless you just have a bunch of them).

    Great Speakers

    By ComfyMusician

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

Overall these are great speakers. I use to own these and powered them with a QSC 2400, but when it came to large venues or for live band they would distort. I used them as stage monitors for a time, but for small to medium venues these are the speakers you are looking for.

    They work for me!

    By Damon Delmont

    from Dothan, Alabama

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

I purchased these bad boys a year ago. They sound great. My 1200 watt Mackie 8-channel powered mixer really pushes these speakers. The only problem I get is if I turn up too loud I start getting feedback. The speakers can only hold 500 watts continous and the Mackie gives 600 watts to each one. You can still get plenty loud for any small club or bar venue with these speakers. The speaker cab's carpet-like covering is o.k., but the corners begain to pill soon after getting them. Nothing a little super glue couldn't fix. Everywhere else has held up fine. I would strongly recomend these speakers.

    Heavy as shit

    By rockoutwithmysockout

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

Paired with some nice power, these are a kickass PA for gigging or DJing, but beware - they are a pain to lug around, so either get strong friends or hit the gym. They also take a lot of abuse without complaining. I've had my set for five years. Still work great. I matched with a Mackie 808S powered mixer and these babies are loud without sacrificing sound quality. Highly recommended.

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

These are very good cabinets if you are looking for the most bang for your buck. I use these every week and push them with a 2000 watt amp. They do not quite have the bottom end I was hoping for with this cabinet, but I guess that is why you either go big or go home right? This is a great amp and sub package. I would buy these again and plan on buying more!

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

We have a small group and have been performing for almost 30 years. In the past we have spent many dollars on speakers of all sorts. I will tell for all around performance and quality, the JRX125s are the best we have ever used. As a matter of fact second best isn't even close. Congrats to JBL for producing such an outstanding product at a reasonable price.

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

These speakers are by far the best speakers I have ever had the pleasure to hear in a rock band situation. We put them to the test our first show out last week, OUTSIDE, They ROCKED! People later told us we were heard a few roads over, miles away, playing, and I only had a modest P.A. Mackie head on them..... totally worth your money!

Comments about JBL JRX125 Dual 15" 2-Way Speaker Cabinet Pair:

The JBL JRX 125 Dual 15" w/ 2 in. driver cabinet was made for me. After 30 years in the small club circuit, I finally had the equipment to run 2 PA's. One consists of all speaker enclosures for instrument sound, and the other is handled by my JBL's. These cabinets only carry vocals, overhead & high hat, & effects. I knew when I bought them they were not the top line JBL speaker, but had all the quality componenents & new x-over technology. The first musician to speak at a gig w/ them felt like he was speaking from the Heavens. Cannot express the complete satisfaction w/ this cabinet except for wanting more unqualified handlers of these cabinets so I can get another pair of the refabs. If you use a cabinet within its abilities, yours will shine even brighter.
