OVERVIEW

5" near-field studio monitor, ideal for home and project studios.

The LSR305, part of JBL's 3 Series studio monitors, is a 5" powered studio monitor delivering professional performance at an affordable price points. 3 Series Powered Studio Monitors are first to incorporate JBL's exciting new technology, the Image Control Waveguide. In conjunction with 3 Series high-performance transducers and system components, the Image Control Waveguide lets you hear detail and depth in recordings as you've never heard before.

The LSR305's 5" long-throw woofer and its 1" damped woven composite Neodymium tweeter are designed from the ground up to reproduce the powerful transients and micro dynamics of your mix. These drivers deliver impressive deep bass and smooth high frequency response beyond the range of human hearing.

JBL's Patented Slip Stream low frequency port design works in concert with the woofer to produce deep bass response at all playback levels. The double-flared shape of the port is precisely engineered for greater low-frequency extension and reduced turbulence.

Big Power, Big Sound
3 Series efficient Class D Amplifiers provide abundant power to deliver the output and dynamic headroom needed for the most demanding production styles

Professional Balanced Inputs
Balanced XLR and 1/4" (6 mm) TRS inputs give you the options you need to connect your 3 Series to any signal source while maintaining professional signal quality.

Selectable Input Sensitivity
The -10 dB/+4 dB sensitivity switch ensures compatibility with a broad range of signal sources, allowing you to connect the 3 Series to high output professional gear without any danger of input overload.

LF Trim and HF Trim "TRIM" switches for both the Low and High Frequencies give you excellent control over the 3 Series sound in "your" room. Use these to fine-tune the amount of bass and treble you hear to compensate for room acoustics, program material and your personal taste.

JBL Professional Reliability
Prior to becoming a production-ready design, each 3 Series model is subjected to JBL's tough 100-hour power test, in which the speaker is required to play continually at full output for 100 hours without failure. This demanding test ensures your 3 Series speakers will deliver years of reliable performance.

JBL LSR Design - Your Music Needs a Point of Reference
While most manufacturers take only a single on axis measurement of the speaker's performance, this doesn't tell how it will sound in your room. JBL's LSR Linear Spatial Reference design criteria requires seventy-two measurements yielding more than 1,200 times more data, enabling JBL to engineer a speaker that "sounds right" in any working space. With LSR design, 3 Series Studio Monitors deliver superior accuracy regardless of the size and shape of your room, so your mixes "hit their mark" when heard on any playback system.

I did tons of research before buying these monitors and so happen to buy them at a great price (buy one get the other half off) here at MF which they still have them currently at the same deal. They sound clean and clear with great bass response as well as highs and mid. They seem adequate to be a high level Home studio monitors for mixing your tracks and maybe even mastering if your room is treated well enough. They sounds great with multiple genres and oh yeah,, they are loud and I havent even cranked them to my mixers and monitors max.. Look mom,, no distortion at extremely high volume! The JBL LSR305 are way better than any other competing monitor in its price range especially with the buy one get half off the other. My montiors are hooked up to a Mackie Onyx820i (firewire and analog mixer) using logic as my DAW and Novations Zero SLMKii to control my DAW. Great way to set up for flow of creativity. Musicians friend is my one stop shop for the studio, and musicians necessities at great deals (stupid deal of the day)! I would recommend these to anyone with a budget of under and over this price range. They are a great buy (sonically speaking) and not like other speakers that look cool and sound boxy.. JBL LSR305... BIG APPLAUSE to JBL for its QUALITY AND AFFORDABILITY!

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

This is the second pair of speakers I bought for my home studios. Each studio is equipped with a pair of these JBL speakers. I primarily use the speakers for music production and playback of audio files. The speakers are equipped with XLR and 1/4" inputs. You can connect the speakers to any audio device, instrument or mixer. I couldn't have picked a better pair.

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

OK so I sifted through all the u tube videos and went around for awhile listening to a lot of my price range options. These are my third pair of near fields that I have owned. 'KRK' 'Mackie' an now these. I've got them in my home setup and at first I was a little disappointed. I did appreciate the review though. However two weeks in and they are starting to shine. Perhaps I might be adjusting to them as well.So for me it took almost a week before the sound to gel and sound as they do now. There very neutral sounding and flaws can easily be detected and corrected. I made a mix and then listened to it through the other monitor options I had and the mix shown through consistently enough to appreciate the 'JBL' process. They are good but not as good as the hype but well worth the money. T

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

highly satisfied with the sound. 5in. cones we're exactly the size i needed for my room. I was somewhat concerned about being able to keep the low end in my mixes honest with the bass port being on the back of the speakers since they would be sitting on my desk facing me with backs to the wall. I just moved my desk forward so it's about a foot away from the wall and put some acoustic foam up behind it so hopefully that tames the extra bass i would be hearing reflect off the wall.

I have been playing music for 55 years, and have toured and recorded since the 70's. Though I now have a very simple home studio, these speakers are just the ticket to hear the music truly as it's recorded.

After adjusting the EQ on my mp3 they came to life. Now that I bought the Behringer 805 mixer. Sound is just like having the artist playing live in your living room. Love them. Plus with the mixer, I now have my mp3, Tv, piano, electrin n acoustic guitars going through them. Very pleased for the price.

Comments about JBL LSR305 5" Powered Studio Monitor:

I love the sound of these. In the price range you can't find a better monitor. I bought a pair of Audix PH5 on STOTD and they buzzed, even without a signal to them. I tried three pairs, all the while researching options. As always, MF customer service was great to deal with. These sell for less than the normal price for the Audix and MF did not have the margin to let me have these JBLs at that price, so they made me a great offer. I decided to pay a little more and buy these. Before I did, I went out to my local GC and listened to two sets of speakers. These and some Yamaha's I liked. Hands down these had better range and overall sound. First thing I did was plug them in with no source and they were absolutely whisper quiet.

While hooking them up to my recording setup I did experience some ground hum, which switching to another source like an iPod they did not have, so I knew I have a ground loop going on. I decided to try moving the computer away from them and Bam! - perfectly quiet again. So I am rearranging my workspace because I love these things. May add the sub later, but for now these really do have adequate bass, even for a bass player! My other reference speakers are some vintage Yamaha NS10s but in another room. I feel very confident my mixing will be a pleasant experience between using these and the NS10s post mix support. Can't say enough good things about CS here!
