OVERVIEW

Command all control room monitoring functions right from your mix position.

The JBL MSC1 Monitor System Controller with Room Mode Correction combines essential monitor system features and JBL's next-generation RMC technology to control your LSR system and tune it to overcome low-frequency problems in the recording room. This RMC technology will work with any studio monitor system in any room, so no matter what speaker system you own, you can have a truly calibrated environment fine-tuned to give you your best mixes.

As the hub of your system, the MSC1 controls the monitoring of 3 stereo input sources, such as computer workstation, mixing console, electronic musical instrument, CD, or personal MP3 player.

The MSC1's primary speaker "A" outputs include a level control, monitor EQ, and RMC Room Mode Correction to tune the monitors to the room. Selecting the "B" outputs assigns the volume control and input routing to a second set of speakers. Subwoofer controls let you add a sub to the "A" speaker system, with a dedicated level control, and a choice of bass management crossover settings.

The MSC1 headphone output and independent level control let you send a headphone feed to a performer or monitor using headphones in the control room.

Control Center Software
In addition to managing RMC Calibration, the MSC1 Control Center Software provides fine-control of monitor EQ, speaker alignment delay, subwoofer balance, and bass-management crossover settings. Control Center Software is included with the MSC1. Control Center is compatible with XP and Vista 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. Macintosh software is in development.

Comments about JBL MSC1 Monitor System Controller with RMC:

Ignore those who obviously don't know what this unit is supposed to do or how to properly set it up. We have had our MSC1 for over 3 years now, it is always on, and not one issue. Calibration is precise and exceptionally accurate, it turned out good room into a great one. (JBL4328/2325's/2310sub/Yamaha NS10's)

Calibration takes some time and patience but you only have to do it once.

The unit is transparent, and the noise floor undetectable.

This is IMO the greatest studio monitor controller under 10K.

Comments about JBL MSC1 Monitor System Controller with RMC:

DO NOT BUY this cheap piece of junk. I've ended up with an expensive low quality paper weight. Went thru the entire tech support and replacement process (which they just shipped my unit back to me unopened!.) The build quality is poor, the cheap Radioshack cables sent with the device had defects. This entire proces waisted no less than 40 hour of my precious time! Sad to say, this product is a joke and I will never buy a JBL product again.

Comments about JBL MSC1 Monitor System Controller with RMC:

Got the first unit home and by the second day the unit was emitting pops and random noises with no input. Took it back for exchange and the second unit went completely dead within 2 weeks. Sent it back to JBL and they returned it repaired.
2 months later the input selector had issues with the left channel going dead. 3 months later, the unit has completely failed again. It's time to give up, warn people about this unit, and take a hammer to it.

      You have been warned!

      Great when they work

Comments about JBL MSC1 Monitor System Controller with RMC:

Don't buy until they redesign the faulty components.
This machine really helped the low end response while listening to my monitors in my control room. My mixes were now much easier not having to fight to get the low end right. The software seems to be working now. The first few versions were trouble but finally usable through persistence. A series of sound waves is played throught your system and analyzed with the included microphone. It found 3 trouble frequencies in my room and applied some pretty sharp notch filters. It seemed barely noticable when switching correction on and off but after listening and mixing a while it becomes very noticable. Too bad the electronics fail so easily. I have now had 2 of these and they lasted about 9 months each. No more. I'm disappointed in JBL. I did leave the the units on 24/7 like several components in my studio but after 9 months or so the MSC1 would be dead never to turn on again.
