This is the third PRX612 monitor I have purchased and it now completes my JBL PA package to include 2 PRX615 and 2 PRX618S SUBS this PA gives our band the sound we were looking for. The price was a little high but is easily made up with the quality sound we are getting. I play bass in the three piece band and this PA helps us get the big sound that's hard to pull off with a three piece band thanks JBL and Musician's Friend

I'll make it short & sweet!! If you don't buy these you're an idiot!! I torture tested these against every other 12" powered speaker at a local store and it was no contest. Plus, at 34.5 lbs. I can easily lift them and have downsized to a station wagon!! No more loser cruiser mini-van and I save on gas and space!! No overheating like my old powered speakers and I don't even need a sub woofer on smaller gigs. Buy these and thank me later!!

Bought 2 for a single DJ gig, but sound quality/quantity so good decided not to sell them. Thinking of integrating them into my hard-core listening room.
Enough, but not a lot.
Typical JBL high quality - both physical and aural.
Lots of "bang for the buck" as far as power, smoothness, audio accuracy/detail, and low weight. The total audio listening experience is Very Very Good.

Bought 2 of these new a couple weeks ago. Set up in 40' X 80' venue the day before a private party and played around for 4 hours learning what they could do. (Another fellow was bringing in his own mixer/DJ eqipment and CDs from Canada but wasn't shipping his speakers/amps) Used with a single 15" Behringer B1500D-PRO powered sub and a Behringer CX3400 SUPER-X PRO active crossover. Was pleasantly suprised at very smooth, high quality sound after little tweaking: All speaker gains= 0dB; Active X-over: everything below 110Hz to sub - all else to '612s. Testing done with laptop playing .wav files thru NUMARK DJ|iO USB-to-24bit/44KHz DAC. EQ= FLAT!. No harshness whatsoever. ALL of my EQ setup (benchmark) recordings sounded extremely good at all volume levels (with the least variability I have ever experienced). I worried a little that when the room was full it might not be enough to provide the SPL the DJ expected, but found out after the event (I had to be out of town that day) that many positive comments from the 100+ partygoers listening to an extremely wide variety of music were made, and the DJ was "shocked" at the room-filling quality sound from such a portable package. He said he would be buying a duplicate of my setup and selling his much larger (heavier) speaker/amp setup. And I was glad that with active cabinets with built-in limiting, there wasn't anything the DJ could do to cause heat or over-excursion damage to the drivers. Sweet!

(PS - I am experimenting with using this setup in my large "listening" room at home and so far am concerned at how well it compares with my $40K speakers. Although only having 1 full evening of listening time to devote so far, it's upsetting that this affordable equipment could even come close to the definition and clarity at low-to-medium volume levels, and still sould so good at SPL levels my expensive stuff can't even get within 10dB of!)

Great sound quality and portability.
I bought a pair of these PA speakers few months ago and I have used it in few gigs already. These speakers are by far the best value for the money and sound quality. The first time I used them in an outside gig at a park. The power and sound quality just blew me and the guest away considering the size. The second time I used them at a small party hall covering around 100 guests. The sound was very clear while still shaking the dance floor. I recommed them to anyone who is starting out with a little budget. The speakers are very light and fit completely in a trunk of a midsized car including the stands and my DJ setup. I am planning to get a PXR618S-XLF subwoofer soon to add more bass.
Very well built, it's JBL.
Best value for the money.

I bought a pair of these PRX612M. I was looking for a lightweight, high power, high quality," no fuss PA Speaker that could also be used as a Floor Wedge. It is very well built and so far it has met my expectations. I had one small concern (which has since been explained by JBL) I thought the Power Amp ran a bit warm since it ""felt"" warm to my hands; but JBL explains that it uses the Rear Back Side of the Speaker Cavity as the HEAT SINK (other speaker brands may dissipate the heat inside the speaker cavity where you cannot feel the heat). I have used these speakers as a Drum Monitor"," Vocal Monitor and even as an Bass Guitar Monitor in conjunction with a Bass Amp (I ran the Bass Amp DI out into the JBL). In all cases it's a perfect solution. You can control the INPUT with the either the LINE/MIC control switch and gain control.
This is a versatile & high quality Speaker. I love the 12"" size since it is small & lightweight", but can do the job. When using this has a FOH Speaker, I use a PAIR of separate Subwoofers. ThePRX612M is all I need for the High End.
Has simple no fuss INPUTS, GAIN CONTROLS, PASS THROUGHS. Very Lightweight and Low Profile. Attractive appearance.
Feels, sounds and looks very PROFESSIONAL.
It was a very good deal.

These monitors need to be about 10 feet away to do any good. I was ready to buy these here at Musicians Friend, and happened to go to a club where the band was using them. They had them propped up to work! I talked with the sound guy and he said the band loves the way they sound, for for setting up they are a pain in the butt because of the propping they need.Looking for something that sounds as good as a JBL but is actually made to be a monitor.

I ordered 4 of these guys to make the switch to active cabs and leave the old gear at home. I run presonus studio lives for FOH and monitor world now and this setup coupled with powered speakers is great. right out of the box three worked great, one the internal crossover was out, returned it and and now everything is good to go. I have A-B'ed these with the QSC's and Mackie and even some Yamaha powered utility cabs. These are very comparable to the qsc series running pink and using A weighted RTA at 110 db. The JBL is slightly smother response in the mids and more in the bottom end when used in Main config. volume wise very close. The big issue is the angle when used as floor wedge, unless you are on a big sound stage and NEVER play small gigs, these guys shoot you in the shins. I had to make wedges for them to get to the right angle. When actually aiming at a musicians head they are great sounding, lightweight and powerful. Need additional handle on the other side too.
