These speakers sound very nice in a small room. But if you are using them in a larger room or a room with a long dance floor you will find them lacking in the rear of the dance floor. They just don't have the kind of throw I would expect from a speaker at this price point. I owned mine for 3 months and have now sold them for a loss to get the QSC K12''s which have much better throw. I know that the k12's only have a 12 inch woofer but if I'm doing big rooms I always use subs. If you only do small rooms these will work fine for you but if you ever are doing big rooms you probably won't find these to be enough.

I generally would never spend close to 1k on ANY speaker no matter how good it is but after being stuck in rehearsals and performances with monitors that were underpowered or just sounded bad (or no monitors at all), I decided to buy my own to ensure I always had a good monitor for rehearsals and any size gig. Since it is self-powered, I can run the mic directly to it and with a vocal effects pedal I now have complete control of my sound through the monitor and do not require the sound guy to get it right since he usually can't tell what the monitor sounds like. Now, if I want a mix of the other musicians coming through the monitor, it will accomodate a line run to it from the board but I haven't found the need for that yet. It is versital, powerful and surprisingly light for it's size and power. The clip light and output controls are on the back so that makes it a little difficult to adjust while in performance. I can't see if it is clipping or not so the only thing I would prefer is that these controls are on the front. But this can also be used as a main PA speaker with the press of a button which toggles it from flat frequency output for monitor use to full frequency output for PA use. In PA use it makes sense to have the controls on the back but if you need ready access to the output knob and clipping indicator as a monitor, it can be frustrating to have to step out and get behind it and fiddle and still not see the clipping light. Other than that, this is a great speaker by JBL. It better be for the price. It sounds great and has nice strong lows and present highs. Sounds crystal clear and up front. I finally can hear all the subtleties of my vocals that never came through before. This keeps me from pushing or over-exagerating to hear myself- making for a more natural and confident performance (and less vocal fatigue). Nothing good is cheap and this definitely isn't cheap. I would love to have two of these, one at 10 and one at 2 O'clock. I can see also how using two of these as main PA speakers with a decent mixing board might be all we'd need for a small gig but then I'd have to go back to the low-quality monitor. Bottom line: If you need a floor monitor that has plenty of power and you want to control it yourself and are willing to cough up a grand, this is a great option.

I have read a lot of reviews on most equipment and find a lot of faults with what some of them say about the equipment.
Remember this before you buy.
Decide what you are going to use the equipment for.
Read the Manufacture's spec sheets.
When you find a piece of equipment that individually or combined with other components gives you what you are looking for. Then Buy it.
Do not expect a single speaker cabinet to give you everything you are looking for. IE Volume, dispersion,tonality and clarity. Today cabinets work best at 50 to 60 Percent output, at best, Regardless Who the Manufacture of the cabinets is. Do not expect the cabinets to produce Lager amount of DB's. For most of us in the industry use several cabinets to create the increased DB measurement. Use an EQ unit to give you the tonality you want and remember that speaker placement is very critical.
If everyone followed this advice we wouldn't need any reviews. These cabinets are great for the money and have great sound reproductions. If you handle all your equipment with CARE they should last a long time.

I am a fan of these speakers for sure. As a mobile DJ and small /medium sound provider, I can say they are some of the best quality speakers you can get before hitting line arrays. Flat and even sound, no harshness where you usually hear it in the high end, and enough lows to run with or without the matching XLF sub (forget the regular 618S, go XLF, you'll thank me for it).

Only problem I had was that one of the two I purchased had a loose horn driver from teh factory. Second time out it started rattling really bad inside the cabinet, and made for some not so good sound. I found where the rattle was after some testing, the plastic cone horn piece was night securely tightened with the magnetic horn driver it was threaded on to. After tightening this back up fully, it's been solid ever since.

I recommend these to toher entertainers and DJ's for sure, just make sure everything is good to go out of the box.

Very good speaker by JBL, good sound very loud,no distortion, no problem just plug it own and play.Exelente bocina, muy bien por JBL muy buen sonido sin duda una de las mejores bocinas, yo estaba eceptico a comprar estas bocinas, porque siempre he tenido peavey, SP4 y no hetenido ningun problema con ellas, sin duda una de las mejores bocinas en el mercado, pero JBL tambien es muy buena sin duda estas bocinas yo las voy a usar para eventos mas chicos, porque es mas dificil montar un equipo grande, bien por JBL, lo unico es el precio un poco caras pero es buena bocina

I have an eight piece band with 4 in the front row and 4 in the rear. Everyone wanted his or her own monitor. I was using some older EONS G 2 10 but found that a hassle to set one up for each player, plus a kick monitor for the drummer. To Save room and the cluster of cords on stage, I thought about getting some larger 15" monitors and cutting down their numbers and start sharing them to conserve stage space. I was looking to by some JBL eons but the new configuration for these are terrible. I prefer a wedge configuration, The old EONS and G series allowed for a smaller foot print monitor. I bought 4 PRX 615 M . I had my doubts at first. But was pleasantly surprised when I took them out on the box and used two for monitors and two for mains. These where loud enough to cover the front stage and still be heard by everyone in the back of the band. The sound out front was crisp and the bass was not over whelming. I used them with Subs and they KA all night long. They are light weight, and easy to handle, yet small enough to fit four in the back seat of my car. Talk about loud. These babies scream from The Crown Amps. Everyone in the band was impressed with their performance. Everyone could here themselves sing. That was a first. I plan on getting two more for side fills. I just used them last night for a small party of 150 people and didn't use the subs. I Was shocked by their performance. I ran one pair for main Vocals and the other for Music . Let me tell you, They filled the house. You could hear all the instruments and the vocal where crisp and clear. You could hear all of our vocal mistakes clearly. LOL If your in the market for a powder cabinet that can be used for mains or monitors . Get these. you'll be impressed as I was. I'm 62 and have been in the Music Buisness for to many years .

Crown Power and JBL Speakers have always never let me down... These things rock loud and don't crack...Back a couple of these up with a dual 18 and you got a set-up that will rock a room of 300...Don't get me wrong on the low end. It does come out nicely but live applications always need a little extra...

I bought these to use as a drummers wedge since drummers can't hear kick from the 12". Sound great. We also use them for mains at jazz events in small clubs. Great value. What I like about the JBL is that they are not sharp and edgey like the QSC K series. The K series are good speakes but they can make your ears bleed in a bad way. Love the JBL smoother sound!

Just bought a pair of PRX615M speakers and I love them. 1000W with 15" woofer from each speaker I did not need any sub to fill up a room with 250 guests. Speakers sounded very smooth, balance and sweet bass at high volume. Crown amp and JBL speakers are perfect quality combination. These are great speakers ... light weight and powerful !!! Thanks JBL
