A quality unit for someone that enjoys doing home recordings.
If you are recording at home, this unit really cleans up the sound of alot of things (guitar, vocals, keyboards, etc) and makes them sound clean and professional. You do not have to be some gear geek to know how to use this thing either, you can mess around with it until you hear something you like.
Even though this is few bucks, immediately I could hear exactly what I paid for and felt it was worth every last dime.
It has lots of knobs and tweeks to make things sound awesome.
To be honest I have no idea what some of the buttons do or what they make things sound one way or another but it is very easy to dial in on sounds you are looking for.
lots of quality. this preamp is totally up there with any thing your going to hear in studios.

I have used this as a main strip on a "vocal only" recording studio and WOW... just WOW... using the normal preamp (with NO Iron) its sounds so freaking CLEAR and just amazing! No EQ needed maybe a little of 100-200Hz boost... With the IRON on its sound too warm for my taste! it has great warmth (vintage) sound but not for my taste! i end up boosting the highs! the compresor works wonders if theres not too much gain reduction, if there is then the compressor sounds a little bit grainy IMO. havent used the other features yet!

This channel strip sits in my studio rack alongside a UA LA610MkII and a TwinQ. The oneQ is a VERY serious piece of equipment, and if it was made in Europe or the USA it would cost much more than it does, and rightly so. It can be clean and transparent or rough and full of attitude depending on how you set it. It sounds extremely good on voice, acoustic guitars, as a D.I. box for bass, violin, cello, flute, sax and what not... It's not even a full step away from the UA and the UA is considered to be one of the best out there ( and it deserves that reputation )... It's more a little different than "not as good". It's just solid state, so it's a bit edgier and punchier, slightly more aggressive than the full tube UA. The compressor is impressive and the EQ really good. The rest of the machine is equally nice to have but sees less usage from me.Honestly get one while they are around, it's a very good channel strip with a lot more heart than the price tag will make you believe. I know a lot of studios own the TwinQ and the OneQ and absolutely swear by them.... And so do I...

Just amazing!! I was so confused what preamp to buy, i was thinking in expensive ones, like Avalon and UA, but at the shop they told me to try this one. Ive never tried Avalon, but i tested UA and i can tell you that this Joemeek one Q maybe is not better but have character and some color that is perfect for my voice, and the compresor is incredible, i have a very dynamic voice and this Joemeek handles it without any problem.... soft and easy. My best buy in years. Very recommended for male voice.

It's awesome to have very controllable compression, EQ (which sounds sweet and clear to thick and punchy), de-essing, and enhancement all in one unit. Very low noise, clean sound, digital outs only help things along. Not so "colored" or "warm" but very clean and nice.
