Comments about Korg MR-1 Mobile Recorder:
Mic Pre-amps are not the best, noise is present although they are 'clean' - DSD modes are overated, converting from single bit to 16, 24 bit at 44.1 khz or 96 khz doesn't bring much benefit, wav modes are useless beyond 44.1khz too much noise from the converter. Single bit converted to 44.1 / 24 bit is the best this can do. Forget it for scientific recording at 192 Khz, far too much noise above 50 Khz. Recommendation consider a recorder like the Edirol R09HR or Oly LS-10.

Mine froze up after 2 months and is now in the shop. For the price, bad news.
Comments about Korg MR-1 Mobile Recorder:
There are a lot of very significant flaws with this thing. Integration software does not work properly. Too many limitations in number of files available for recording as well as inability to move files. In short, it is severely malfunctioning to the point where I am afraid to use it at all for fear of losing all data. And I can not transfer the data to computer for back-up because of faulty software. It is now a paper weight. And the sound quality was never that great to begin with. The mic that comes with the unit is of poor quality. You can do much better for much less. I will never buy anything from Korg again.
Comments about Korg MR-1 Mobile Recorder:
This is good recorder, and easy to use, but after a very short time, it's numerous and significant faults become obvious. First you cannot choose an order for the songs, except by renaming with a number. you can't just move the files, and when you rename using and actual name, them the unit moves them arbitrarily. This is little more than a nuisance, though it would be nice to be able to group songs how I want to. There is a play list, and you can move files around in any order there, but there is only one, even though the manual says you can store up to 100- not true.My biggest complaint is that you can only have 200 files for any given recording format (of which there are four). If you are recording entire performances on high-fi it's not going to be a problem, which is what they told me. Well we don't all want to use it for the same thing. I am using it to record original songs and bits of songs, as well as multiple takes of each during rehearsal. Using separate files allows me to name each one so I can find it quickly when going over it. This is the entire reason I bought this thing. But even if you want to put multiple songs on one file, you can't do it unless you record them at the same time or push pause between recordings. Every time you push record/play a new file is recorded, and when you push stop, or the unit powers off automatically, the file can not be added to. So if you have a bunch of 3 to 5 minute songs you will end up with 10 gigabytes, or 15 hours of recording space that you can't use. You'll have to start deleting files to keep recording in the same format. So I find myself asking 'why did I buy this thing?' Also, when I went to plug it in to my computer the software which is supposed to automatically upload itself onto the hard drive did not. I am still waiting for a response about tech support for that, but I am not overwhelmed with confidence. My previous inquiry, while the response was timely and by an individual who actually spoke and understood english, (a nice touch, nothing like microsoft) wasn't actually very helpful. His answers were; "well most people don't use it like that" and "that's actually a misprint, it doesn't really do that" (refering to the claim that it stores 100 play lists) were not exceedingly helpful.
