Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
I find it hard to understand the instruction booklet that came with it.
At 1st I couldn't understand the written instructions in the booklet there are about 57 pages to go over. I found some videos on youtube that helped me a little. On a scale of 1 to 10, I am about a 3 at the moment but THE RECORDING SOUND IS VERY PROFESSIONAL. I am amazed at the sound this produces , with a cord adapter I can plug it right into my P.A. or us a small computer sound system, ALL IN ALL I RATE IT AT CUTTING EDGE, My last song I did had 22 tracks in it and it sounded awesome, A very fantastic recorder.
Probably the best portable recorder on the market. I know musicians that have paid $$$$$ for that kind of studio sound !!!
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
Not bad
OK but noisy
Beware that despite Korg's instructions that expressly state that headphones are not required for this device, that is FALSE. If you record a part and next try to overdub a vocal or acoustic insturment using the internal microphone, you will NOT be able to hear the originally recorded part without headphones. So if you see yourself singing multiple vocal parts in this device using the internal microphone and without headphones, do not buy this device.
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
I think people are a little turned off by the "Sound On Sound" recording method. This unit acts exactly like a multitrack recorder. There's a bit of a learning curve, but once u get it down - it's tons of fun.
I record on the go (parks, airports, anywhere). The SOS makes recording easy and perfectly portable. I record and set levels accordingly so I can mixdown directly from the SOS. For those who need DAW options, you can download the data from the SOS memory card into a DAW and mixdown the tracks individually. I haven't tried that yet - I dig the sound from the SOS direct.
Now - the taste test. I haven't recieved any complaints about SOS' sound quality. I've been engineering sound for 25 + years and only pro musicians ask me what I recorded on or cry about sound quality.
Seriously - No recording device is just a scratch pad. SOS could be your portable recording space station. Let your creativity soar!
There's many features built into this little guy... Read through the specs carefully. You'll be suprized.
On board small condenser mics (tiny) great effects (delay, ring mod, reverbs, distortions, amp emulations...) Guitar Tuner, touch screen, recording pitch control and let's not forget the percussion/drum machine stuff... Man - It's a little plastic powerhouse.
I was immediately impressed by the sound quality. I record synths, drum machines, samples, etc. via the 1/8" line inputs. The sound reproduction is very good and if you add effects it's even better. Korg's effects have always produced great sounds Plus - the onboard effects can be edited. Yipee. I used the onboard mics once or twice.. They're adequate & did sound better when blended with effects.
**The build quality is just O.K. The chasis is made of plastic with some metal shielding. The unit itself is very light... I think it's a little too fragile - i recommend getting a small hardcase or camera case to protect it. Now - this is NOT a negative, just be careful handling the SOS. The touchscreen is really cool, and there's LED's for operation, signal clipping, etc.
SOS - It's a great value for the money. The features blow away the competition (4 and 8 track units)
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
If it didn't have the hum & howl it would be perfectly satisfactory.
The features are great for what I wanted: quick and easy multitrack recording while sitting on the couch, in the car, etc.
The quality is getting a low rating because of the everpresent howl & squeal. Believe me, I tried everything to get rid of it, and I would be able to if possible, I've a electronics tech and have been recording & playing for over twenty years.
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
I am very happy with my recent purchase. There is a slight learning curve with it, but it only took me a few minutes to read the manual and figure it out. I can see some people having some problems with it, mostly people who have difficulty working their phone or computer. I can't recommend this more for people who want to record on the go (like at lessons or rehearsals).
My favorite part of this recerder is that I can layer as many tracks as I want! There is a tuner, rhythm box, and metronome as well. The only downside is that there isn't a USB port to plug into the computer. That might bother some people, but my laptop has a card reader built into it, so there is no problem for me. It even came with 2 AA batteries in the box. Awesome.
This is a great little electronic. The sound is wonderful. I was recording ambient noise at the park, and when I went home to listen to it, it sounded like I was right there at the park! It was amazing. It is sturdy and easy to haul around to lessons, rehearsals, and concerts. It picks up music wonderfully.
I think it is a wonderful price. I was looking at some other options in this price range and I couldn't find one with as many features and the track layering capabilities.
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
I am a singer/songwriter and was shopping around for something to capture my ideas. I ran across this and decided to give it a try. After learning the how to operate this unit,...it is awsome. Not only can you keep adding tracks to your song, it does it with great clarity. I bought this unit just for scratch ideas, but after recording a couple of songs and playing them on my car speakers, I am actually thinking about mastering a cd from this unit and see how it turns out. The ONLY complaint I have about the unit is that it does not come the electric adapter. I have already gone through 4 sets of batteries.
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
I can't understand why a recorder with this much to offer would not include a simple USB connection for downloading your work to a flash drive or computer. Missing that is the killer.
Comments about Korg Sound on Sound Unlimited Track Recorder SR1:
Could be better if it had a USB port. You have to remove the card to transfer music to and from the unit. Sound quality is excellent.
