Don't Forget

Korg's ZERO4 is an 4-channel all-in-one "core station" designed for live performance artists, remix producers, and serious computer musicians providing a digital mixer, audio I/O, MIDI controller, and effect processor all in a single unit. Each channel can be switched between sources such as a turntable, CD player, microphone, computer, instrument, MIDI controller, or MIDI controller + audio to implement a sophisticated live mixing setup with the simplicity of a FireWire connection. This gives you an incredibly powerful and flexible tool designed specifically for live performance and remix production.

Designed for high-quality digital and analog audio
ZERO LIVE CONTROL MIXER delivers truly professional-spec audio. It supports 24-bit 48 kHz high-resolution audio as standard, and can support up to 24-bit 192 kHz audio that's equivalent to DVD audio fidelity. Along with the digital domain, analog components such as the input/output circuitry and power supply have been designed with painstaking attention to high-quality sound. The internal ±18 volt power supply design delivers plenty of headroom and excellent audio quality. The mic preamps are an ultra-low impedance design by Peter Watts, a veteran designer of numerous professional mixers throughout his tenure at the Trident Corporation in the UK and as chief designer and vice president for product development at Mackie Designs in the USA. Finally, the power supply is a universal design that does not require an AC adapter, ensuring that the world-traveling professional can get to work immediately, assured of the highest level of performance.

EQ Variety
The EQ Selector is a completely new idea, providing an EQ section with eleven different simulation types. They cover needs ranging from corrective equalization to boldly creative sound-shaping, giving you a variety of EQ responses and curves, filter characteristics, and even isolator modeling that can be switched independently for each channel as needed. The stereo four-channel ZERO4 provides one unit that is shared by all channels.

FireWire control over audio and MIDI
ZERO LIVE CONTROL MIXER contains a FireWire interface that lets you process and mix audio sources digitally, at the same time as performing MIDI control. Since ZERO LIVE CONTROL MIXER contains everything else you need (audio interface, mixer, effect processor, MIDI controller), setup is simple, making it an extremely convenient choice for the mobile computer-based professional.

A full complement of effects
One particular advantage of the ZERO series is its powerful effect system. On the stereo four-channel ZERO4, there are Insert effects for independent use on each channel, plus a Master effect connected to sampler/effect buss.

The ZERO4 also contains a loop sampler that can synchronize to the BPM. This makes it easy to sample or play back loops (or one-shot samples) in perfect time with the current tempo, giving you the flexibility for complex mixes or dub mixing.

A complete MIDI control surface
By using the dedicated "ZERO Edit" software you can freely assign MIDI messages to the faders, knobs, buttons, and toggle switches. This allows you to use the abundant hardware on the ZERO Mixers to control soft synths, DAWs, effects processors and much more. Since each channel of the mixer can be assigned to different functions you can be mixing the audio from your computer with one channel while adjusting MIDI parameters with another.

Professional-level hardware design
The crossfader of the stereo four-channel ZERO4 uses a two-rail design for excellent durability. The compact chassis is made of aluminum alloy and steel for portability and durability. The periphery of the control knobs is illuminated in two colors depicting audio mode and MIDI mode, ensuring accurate control on stage or in dim lighting.

Korg Zero 4 - A Musicians DJ Mixer

    By Reggie Regg

    from Philadelphia ,PA

Being first a musician and is starting to do more DJ work as well as re-mixing on other projects, this mixer ''is all that''.It is easy to operate, the layout is mostly, or almost very convenient..I'll get into more details on that later.First of all the sound that comes from this mixer ( 24 bits with Variable KHz ) would appeal to whoever uses it, you also have all of the EQ settings that you can think of like LFO's, LPF's & HPF's. Included at the bottom of this unit is various isolater, filter and EQ selection setting knob with all sorts of various choice settings that are nice. The effect settings are awesome, it gives you every effect that you would need for live & studio FX, on the individual channels as well as a separate master effect section to fulfil all of your FX mixing. My only wish about the sampler is if it where a way to manually time your loops and override the set beats, that is as presets on the mixer. The two fire wire is a plus but I haven't tried to assign it to my Ableton live or my Traktor controls yet, I will do that later. The only bad part about this mixer layout is the controls as well as the head phone input that is at the bottom of this mixer,I would have switched the head phone plug at the bottom with the guitar input that is located at the front top of the mixer. This poses a problem if you wanted to try and rack mount this unit if you use a travel rack or stack top set up.My work around is to use a mini plug or 1/4'' adaptor with a female input on the other side and arrange it to the front of the mixer to plug in to.This mixer is not set up for rack mounting, most pro mixers aren't, but using this work around with a little custom fabricating from Lowe's or Home Depot is only a small set back to this mixer. The faders are very smooth and easy to slide ( loose feel) with hardly no resistance, you also have about every setting to arrange the cross fades to whatever your preference desires. The BPM setting is a plus and with MIDI is the only way to go for musicians who likes to use a drum machine or a MIDI DAW to time your beats with your sequences, which is one of the main reasons that I purchased this mixer, not only do it have MIDI in but also MIDI out. Two IEEE 1394 fire wire ports for your controllers that I was also able to send audio to my laptop Traktor program through, which is nice.I would give this mixer a ( 9 ) on the scale of ( 1 to 10 ).Good work Korg, I think that Korg has set the bar bringing musicians and DJ closer to matrimony.
