I've been using these more than 40 years. They DON'T break, they're perfect for recording screaming vocals. Those guys(or Gals)want the track VERY LOUD in their cans so they can shred their lungs & still hear the music. Other headphones always leaked into the recording mic. THESE DON'T no matter how loud you crank them. They have also worked great on recordings requiring a little more finesse (4 voice vocal group tracking live over instrumentals, James Taylor-type singer-songwriters). The high-end clarity and deep bottom end are excellent. I'd recommend them to ANYONE. They're great for listening to music, too. You'll hear things that never came out of your speakers. If you work with them for hours(like I have) they CAN get a little heavy but for unextended periods they are VERY comfortable. Better sound than many more expensive models. Worth every cent. BUY 'EM

these headphones emulate the best in 70's technology. They are heavy. They are hot and make your head sweat. They are not efficient, so driving them with anything other than a very strong audio source results in a relatively quieter response. But it's 2014 and many great advances in earbud and headphone technology have evolved over the last 40 years. Buy something else.

Comments about Koss PRO4AA Noise-Isolating Professional Studio Headphones:

I have heard negative reviews before purchasing and it almost changed my decision. I'm glad it didn't.
Koss has been around a long time and there is a reason they revived this old model!!
Yes they are heavier than most and they might be a little tight for some but isn't that what you want for a pro sound application!!
Isolation is awesome as well as the sound. Give it a few hours of break in and you'll hear how natural the sound is.
I also find them comfortable, anyone old enough to have headphones from the 70's and early 80's know what it's like to have headphones hurt! These fit well have good adjustment and feel good.

Comments about Koss PRO4AA Noise-Isolating Professional Studio Headphones:

Would be nice to have a hanger on top, do not want to rune the top pad so I lay them down. Everything I have is black so it is nice to have a color this one has so I can find it. The top pad is real nice because all the weight is carried by it allowing the ear peaces to be adjusted easily. Would like have seen the mike that went with them.

Comments about Koss PRO4AA Noise-Isolating Professional Studio Headphones:

Most talk about their wonderful sounding headphones and these do produce excellent sound. However, you notice the bolt on the side, that's what studio used to hang a voice mike. They isolate to allow a singer to listen to the track in his headphones and sing through the mike. My two pair are only 42 years old, so I can't really discuss quality. Frank Sinatra used these in the recording studio. Enough said.

These cans are the real deal, there's a good reason they have been unchanged since 1970, they are the sm58 of cans, newbies should buy these first so they have a standard to compare to.

Comments about Koss PRO4AA Noise-Isolating Professional Studio Headphones:

Good insulating headpones. The vintage design is quite nice, if you like it. Driven by a stereo amplifier performs very well with a precise bass, never booming and a precise midrange and high tones reproduction.
Also tried with an amateur radio tranceiver and ssb voice and am music listening is quite good.
Only a word of warning: some portable audio gear may not be suitable to these headphone due their high impedance. Tried with a portable CD player and the volume output was quite low. On other portable gear the volume output was reasonable: i tried with a Samsumg mp3 player and the volume, while not really loud was satisfactory.

Comments about Koss PRO4AA Noise-Isolating Professional Studio Headphones:

I ordered these headphones because I owned a pair that I bought in the 70's. When they arrived I unpacked them and plugged them into my amplifier. I couldn't hear anything in the left earpiece. I tried them again plugging them into my stereo, still no sound in the left earpiece. I returned them and for a pair of Roland RH 300's.
