KRK

Same great KRK sound in a limited edition gold color design.

KRK has redesigned its wildly popular Rokit series of studio monitors, providing a broader frequency response, a new cabinet design, an adjustment in power for better balance, and several other enhancements. All three models feature a front-firing port that provides low frequency extension without boundary coupling, an improved speaker voicing for even more accurate frequency response, a 1" silk dome tweeter, and an Aramid glass composite woofer. They are lightweight, low profile and are offered at a price that makes professional-level monitoring affordable for even the most humble studios.

Other monitors have ports on the back of the cabinet. These rear-firing ports tend to create bass coupling with walls and corners amplifying low frequency information which will color your mix. The KRK Generation 3 Rokit studio monitor's design includes front-firing ports, which are just the right shape and taper to reduce port turbulence. You'll appreciate the clean and accurate bass performance this approach delivers, even at high SPL's.

A great-sounding monitor doesn't stop with a great cabinet and custom drivers. KRKs true bi-amplified amplifier system provides discrete low-distortion power for each driver. While the active crossover systems provide smooth and accurate frequency response, and again, accurate diffraction control.

Features
  • Limited edition vintage gold color
  • Extended bass response

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 5" Generation 3 - Vintage Gold:

Bought these speakers to replace some Tascam NFM's I had for the past six years (one of the volume pots in the back of the tascams were getting "noisy" so the time came to plunk some money down on a new pair of monitors.

Totally Impressive & Awesome Monitors! The versatility of being able to incorporate them into my studio via RCA, XLR, or TSR jacks was a plus, and from the moment I unboxed them and plugged them in I was very pleased.

The sound on these monitors is just what everyone tends to describe them as, REAL, Rich, Full Sound, & when you have a really nice source to pump into them, you'll have no doubt in your mind these monitors are worth every penny & then some.

They are built very nicely, and they allow you to tweak the sound (if need be) and come with built in sound dampers (which should suffice for most applications) and I am very happy with the price I paid and the speed of shipping (and how well they were packed for shipping, by Musicians Friend)

All in all, they earn a 5-Star rating by this happy & satisfied customer.

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 5" Generation 3 - Vintage Gold:

KRK has been a well-known top name in studio monitors and the Rokit 5's have been an industry standard starting point for at least 10 years now. I bought these around Christmas time when they were on holiday discount and I couldn't be happier. Despite what conventional wisdom says about them on the internet that they sound bad - they don't. I compared them side-by-side with the regular black Rokit 5's and they sound identical.

There are a few things that are not in the product description that I think people should be aware of however:

        1) These monitors are HEAVY. Which is good because you want studio monitors to be dense to avoid vibration problems.

        2) The user manual comes in a plastic bag and is extremely helpful in describing monitor placement and tuning.

        3) The pictures shown at the top make these appear a much darker gold than what they are. Think of a Les Paul Goldtop and it's that sort of color.

        4) There is a very thin padded strip at the bottom that helps with the vibrations between your desk (or whatever surface you choose) and the monitors. However, I still recommend buying a set of Auralex Mopads, as this included strip will not complete the isolation of the monitors.

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 5" Generation 3 - Vintage Gold:

I needed a pair of monitors for my home DJ setup and these definetly satisfied my needs and then some. Had to actually trim the bass on these units which by the way is one of the great features of these units. Perfect for my application.
