OVERVIEW

5" powered studio monitor for home and project studios.

KRK Systems is one of the world’s most respected manufacturers of studio reference monitors. In their state of the art design facility, KRK engineers create products that deliver natural and balanced spectral response with low distortion and superior imaging. KRK Studio Monitors have been the professional’s choice of recording engineers and artists for mixing and mastering hit records around the globe, as they need to hear every nuance of the audio being reproduced. KRK ROKIT Generation 3 monitors continue in this design philosophy, so regardless of your musical style, genre, or particular mixing needs, KRK Rokits deliver.

KRK's ROKIT 5 G3 (Generation 3) powered studio monitors offer professional performance and accuracy for recording, mixing, mastering and playback. The system consists of a 1” soft dome tweeter and 5” glass-Aramid composite woofer. It delivers high frequencies up to 35kHz, vocal clarity and extended bass response. The proprietary bi-amped, class A/B amplifier grants SPL up to 106dB. The ROKIT waveguide is designed to ensure detailed imaging in the listening position. The front-firing bass port reduces boundary coupling to allow flexible positioning in the room while the engineered surface reduces diffraction distortion. Multiple input connections ensure the ROKIT 5 G3 will easily integrate in any system configuration.

As one of the most used Studio monitors in the world, the ROKIT 5 is a high valuable and compact solution towards an accurate mix.

I got a pair of these to replace my very used M-Audio monitors in my home studio. These have plent of power for near-field monitors to work well in small to average size rooms. Having the front firing ports help naturally improve low-end response. The highs and down through most of the mids do have a good flat response, however, there is an exaggerated low-mid response making it sound overly rich. That being said, having the +1,0,-1,-2dB switch for the low's helps clear that up.

Overal these are great for a project studio, or B-set monitors

These things sound far better in the low end than the g2's which I used to have, however, for mixing the low end is unreliable. I made it better with a trick I learned from Mike Senior to stuff the ports with rags or socks so the low frequencies aren't blurry and it really helped but the low end is still unreliable to mix with. My main issue with these is when you turn them on it takes anywhere from 5-30 seconds for them to produce volume. That's a very annoying delay. Also, rarely at times they cut out- either one or the other, sometimes both for no apparent reason... they are brand new!

Also, the more I read about these and mix on them and listen to other monitors, the more I realize these are best for DJs who aren't trying to mix an actual pro album. The low end and even mids are no flat whatsoever. Honestly, they seem hyped to me but sound incredible just to use for entertainment like movies, Youtube, and listening to music.
Soon I'll be selling these and getting Yamaha HS8's.

Hope that helps.

I was a little worried about the small size of the bass driver, but it delivers very clear low end. Very clean and clear.

I use these cabs as close-range monitors in my compact studio. Apart from reducing the low-end a notch or two, the freq, range is what I would ask for from a pair this size. In terms of volume, I haven't had a need to increase the amps by more than 1/3 of their total rotation. They sound great to my ears and the bottom end is very punchy, again, for their size. I hesitate to mention what they replaced, but I don't foresee replacing these two speakers anytime soon since they bring so much life to what I thought were otherwise 'dead' recordings.

We bought these reconditioned from Musicians Friend and we could not be happier. The quality is way above the meager price they ask for the divers. We use them in our studio every day. My wife and I write for film and TV and we would only replace the pair we have with a larger set of KRK's. Thanks guys for making a great product. Crisp and Deep!!
