OVERVIEW

This limited-edition KRK Rokit Powered 6 G2 (Generation 2) studio monitor comes with a super-cool Ferrari Grey finish. However, looks aren't everything. It's just the icing on the cake for this incredibly affordable, yet extremely well-built Rokit is designed to give amazing performance and accuracy for the home or project studio. The G2 Rokit has radically curved edges which virtually eliminate diffraction and provide a wider sweet spot. The Rokit G2 also features a great-looking cabinet with a front-firing bass port and KRK's trademark yellow glass-aramid composite woofer and soft-domed tweeters. Dual high-power amplifiers in each speaker and active crossovers provide smooth and accurate reproduction. The Rokit monitor has the most accurate response curve in its class ensuring that you hear all of the details in your mix.

The KRK RokitG2 Series takes value-priced monitors to a new performance level. All of the great stuff that Rokit's have been known for (front-firing bass port, soft-domed tweeter, glass-aramid composite yellow cone) are still there, but the G2 Rokit's feature refined voicing and a new curved baffle that looks great, reduces diffraction and provides even better monitoring accuracy.

Welcome to the all new Generation 2 Rokit Powered

Studio Monitor Series from KRK Systems. For years the Rokit series has been a popular choice for accurate monitoring in studios large and small. Now the all new Generation 2 Rokit studio monitor provides a new standard for even better performance and accuracy, raising the bar once again.

No Pain With Gain

Why compromise gain structure to achieve a comfortable listening level? As musicians and recording people themselves, KRK asked that question too. So each Generation 2 Rokit monitor comes with an Input Volume Control that provides an adjustable gain range from +6dB to -30dB. Just another way the Rokit lets you focus on your mix, and not on compatibility concerns.

Catch A Wave, For A 3D Mix

Recessed tweeters may look the same, but they don't perform the same. KRK has designed a superior tweeter wave guide for the Rokit that provides optimal high frequency pattern control and focuses the sound outward, away from the cabinet. More conventional designs direct sound along the plane of the cabinet where waveform interaction can cause phase problems and increased diffraction. KRK knows a properly engineered high frequency wave guide is a critical component to great sound, and one key to KRK's award-winning performance.

You've Got Connections

At KRK, the focus is your mix. But it doesn't stop at creating accurate monitors. KRK appreciates the need for monitors that not only sound great but work easily into your particular setup. That's why you'll find plenty of input options with your Rokit, sure to accommodate any studio environment. So if it's RCA, quarter-Inch (balanced/unbalanced) or XLR inputs you require, Rockit has got you covered.

Even More Accurate Than Before

KRK took a great monitor series and made it better. KRK's engineers and listening panel took the Generation 2 Rokit's speaker voicing to even more accurate levels. What you hear is what you are intended to hear, coloration is not part of the spec. This performance is brought to you by drivers that are custom-designed by KRK's world-class studio monitor engineering team, for clear, low-distortion performance.

Take Control

While your Generation 2 Rokit monitor leaves the factory voiced to demanding specs, KRK also knows that no two rooms "sound" the same. As such, each Rokit speaker comes equipped with a High Frequency Level Control. This feature provides specific adjustment of high frequency output most commonly affected by room acoustics. It's just one extra level of control that KRK gives you to ensure the most accurate mix for your
particular room's acoustics.

Don't Be Square, Curves Ahead

The new Rockit monitor looks different, so it can sound better, and in a wider "sweet spot". Traditional rectangular speakers suffer from diffraction as sounds leaving the edge of the cabinet are reflected back into the original sound field, and at different time intervals. This phase distortion creates a "narrow" or boxy" sound. The Generation 2 Rokit series eliminates this issue with radically engineered curved surfaces, so diffraction is virtually eliminated. Simply put, you'll get better sound in a wider area.

Let's Be Up Front

Take a look at competitive monitors and you'll find ports on the back of the cabinet. These rear-firing ports tend to create bass coupling with walls and corners amplifying low frequency information which will color your mix. The superior design of the KRK Generation 2 Rokit's include front-firing ports, which are just the right shape and taper to reduce port turbulence. You'll appreciate the clean and accurate bass performance this approach delivers even at high SPLs.

Power Up!

A great sounding monitor doesn't stop with a great cabinet and custom drivers. KRK's true bi-amplified amplifier system provides discrete low-distortion power for each driver. While the active crossover systems provide smooth and accurate frequency response, and again, accurate diffraction control.

Note: Monitors are sold as singles.

KRK's glass-aramid cone technology for greater sonic accuracy and now in a fetching Ferrari grey cab.

1st Impressions so far are good. 2 weeks. They have already survived a marathon session and several normal sessions. I use them with a subwoofer and I have no trouble with muddyness. The 3 final mixes I have done so far have proven to playback as intended on the car system, the home 5.1 system and mp3 and wave copies of the mix are accurate representations of what I heard in the studio.
I give these a 9 because KRK has included some nice features here. There are separate controls for the tweeter and woofer. They supply cleaning cloths to maintain the high gloss finish, the front port...Does make a difference. AND there are 3 different choices for connectors.
There is obviously quality control at KRK. These monitors look as good as they sound. My BX5A's crapped out on me after the warranty expired (3 days) and Avid (M-Audio) customer service is a joke. I'm hoping these Rockit 6's last longer. Time will tell.
I'm a new owner. But the differences out of the box are major from the BX5A's. The sound quality is so spot on. Signal reproduction is excellent thus far. Thanks KRK.

i own the red special edition of these monitors. identical but a different color. they work good. the low end response is pretty good. they get pretty loud if need be. i do think there are better speakers for the money though. if i had it to do again i would go with a different brand. the reason is these are very weak on the high frequencies. high freq turned all the way up and i have to mix my highs so low with these monitors because they are not acuratly producing whats there. i can listen to a track on (ANY) other system and the highs are way more that what the monitors are producing. i know, i know, KRK is supossed to be the shizz for a good price. i agree with that but i think other models (not the special edition cheaper ones) may be a better buy. i dont know for sure but they are cheaper for some reason. i can use them after getting adjusted to this. but when you realize what you should have it makes you wish you had went with something else. thats my 2 cents. you may like then being jacked up this way.
i give them a 6
no problems at all with the workmanship and reliabillity of these monitors.
i would say the value is ok but you will find that they are week in the high frequenciy range. so maybe not such a good value.

Great Speakers

By Demetrios Nicodimou

from Undisclosed

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 6 Monitor Generation 2 Limited Edition Ferrari Grey:

Have these speakers for about a week now and I can't get enough of them. Upgraded from the Numark npm5s which were great 5" intro monitors but Musicians Friend had such an incredible deal on these bad boys I couldn't resist. They sound great, very clear and have enough bass for good playback. They are also pretty loud but haven't had a chance to really push them yet. Overall it was a great buy and I would recommend them to anybody.

I want to use these speakers for everything

By Pack Howitzer

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 6 Monitor Generation 2 Limited Edition Ferrari Grey:

I like these so much that I wish i could afford to use them as my TV speakers and my PC speakers too. My only gripe is that the power switch is on the back and it's kind of a chore to reach back there to turn them on. Otherwise this is a superior product.
These have lots of different connection types for practically any setup.
I'm sure there are better choices out there if you've got the money, but these are perfect for me. Years of abusing my hearing has left me at a point where I can't hear all that audiophile stuff anyway. I do hear some electronic buzz occasionally, but I think it's because of the way I have them connected-- not a fault of the monitors.
I think these are a TREMENDOUSLY GOOD value. They have transformed my little home studio.

Very accurate high quality monitors

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 6 Monitor Generation 2 Limited Edition Ferrari Grey:

I've used many varieties of studio monitors including all the major brands. There are many great options these days. But, these KRKs are just phenomenal. They are transparent and easy on the ears. Very little listening fatigue even after long sessions. I really like these. Worth easily twice the price. Nice job KRK.
HF boost and cut capbility is awesome. Can be tuned for most listening environments. Plenty of power.
Great fit and finish. These dark gray cabinets are beautiful. I love KRK but am NOT a fan of their yellow cones. These limited edition Ferrari gray solve that by using a gray woven cone material. Beautiful to look at and beautiful sounding. Nice.
Fantastic quality for very little money. A GREAT value. Superb audio wuality, superb build quality and a price that makes these a no brainer.

The Perfect Investment

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 6 Monitor Generation 2 Limited Edition Ferrari Grey:

I felt it necessary to post a review of the Rokits from metal guitarist point of view, since I never read one before purchasing them. I've had a pair for a little over two months now, and could not be happier. The quality surpasses that of products twice the price range. After a quick trial run with superior drummer I was left speechless. Highs, mids, and lows are pristine, and match most any other studio monitor.

The only downer to date is the fact that their produced from KRK. I hate to follow the "begginer" series product line up of any brand, but face it, these meet and surpass the standards. I might be another Krk follower....but I'm a satisfied one.

Hi Yall
Today I got a pair of these for my church. Took it home to my studio to compare against my Behringer Truths. I am jealous now I want a pair for myself. I played a project that I mixed with the truths on these monitors and was able to hear things I did not hear on the truth. The clarity is great!
I know that these are not classified as high end monitors like Mackie, but for the price , you can get really professional mixes with these. I hope my church will take care of them otherwise I will keep them for me.
Great value for the quality

If you are looking for value for money then these fit the bill

Comments about KRK Rokit Powered 6 Monitor Generation 2 Limited Edition Ferrari Grey:

I have listened to a lot of powered monitors since getting back into recording and playing at home over the past couple of years. I should mention that I played live a lot in England 30 years ago and spent a fair amount of time in studios but that was when we only had tape. We left all of the technical work to the experts back then.

Now I have a home studio which I could only dream of back in the day, this is the first time I have needed to buy studio monitors for myself. I limited my expediture to about twice this price, for a pair of monitors because I know i don't actually NEED the best available at home. As you al know, need versus want is our worst enemy when buying to pursue our love of music, especially when we have had access to the very best in the past.

In addition to hearing as many monitors as I could within my price range, the published tech specs from Rokit clinched the deal for me. Go to each manufacturer's website and checkout the Frequency Resonse figures. Not only do you want to know the frequency range the monitors will handle but (I believe) you want to know how linear the response is through the frequency range. This is usually shown by a (+/-) figure somewhere close to the published frequency range. Rokit 6's track through their handling range to within +/- 1.5 db which means the sound they produce is extremely close to the source's single input to them. You will find that quite a lot of manufacturers do not publish this important statistic which means you can assume it not something they are too proud of.

So, at the end of the day, does it really matter what color the cones are or if they are made of something invented for use in the space shuttle's loo? Personally, I don't think so. We are looking for the best acoustic representation of the signals we recorded and Rokit 6's output these very accurately. Like all of you, when I had finished my mixes using the Rokit's, I blasted them out of my old, big, nasty speakers and tunes sounded the best they have ever sounded. I guess I knew they would but we get used to using our old stuff for everything we can even though we know deep inside that mixing with a purpose build monitor like Rokit 6's makes sense.

I have no way of knowing whether Rokit 8's would be better in my home though I suspect they probably they would be. Having stuck my price range 'stake in the ground' I'm pleased with what I have from the Rokit 6's. I don't plan to upgrade but plan to sell some big stuff I have been using until now.

One last point, I saw a documentary from the BBC about Lady Gaga. A few minutes of the video were in the studio where she previewed a few seconds of her then unreleased new albumn. It was through Rokit 6's and I have a hunch she could have used other monitors costing a few dollars more.
