Great speakers! Fact: they will improve your mixes! If you're still using home speaker or computer speakers to mix then yes, these will blow your mind. They help to get those TRUE and ACCURATE mixes for playback on all other systems. But if you do have the money- try some ALESIS or other high end monitors. Because these are just a little wee bit harsh in the bright/high-mid range. Very nice looking, sleek and professional. Though I could have done without the Rockit 8 logo, as it looks just a little bit cheesy. I got the powered sub too, and it's great to know what's happening in those low frequencies. EASY TO SET UP! GREAT FIRST MONITORS!!! Don't forget stands. These MO-FO's are big. Worth the money.

Fairly balanced response at the extremes, but with a hump in the midrange. There's clearly a resonance that hasn't been tamed in this design that becomes apparent in the mid octaves of female vocals. Playing an instrument such a guitar through them also reveals this resonance. Maybe I received a defective pair. I've examined the internals, and the amp uses an EI transformer instead of the more common and higher quality toroid, and a minimal buffer of capacitance for low frequency extension unfortunately. I simply think they could have done better for the price. I'll check out the Events and MAudios...

Worth twice as much! (But don't tell KRK that)

By Chris Geo

from Dallas, TX

These are by FAR the BEST monitors in the price range and beat many that cost twice and three times as much. The sound is stunning, crystal clear and the design etc. are GREAT! I've had mine for about four years. I'm tempted to upgrade to the G2's but I really love these monitors. I baby them too. A word of advice, KEEP THE BOX/PACKING MATERIAL IN CASE YOU HAVE TO MOVE THEM. You'll fall in love with these and baby them if you take pride in your equipment. The design is solid and not cheap by any means. The Sub is solid too! No complaints what so ever.

I tryed about 10 other higher priced and Studio Standard type monitors right along side these babys. I will tell you that these speakers sounded smoother than them all They are close to the V8 models but cost friendly. I have been in the studio using these for two weeks now at an average of 12 hours / day and my ears are thanking me. These have a great low end base tone and a sweet mellow mid to high (not harsh). I say don't keep thinking, Get um!!!

This is what I know...

I use these when I make mix tapes, beats using reason, or connected to a digital piano. The frequency response is excellent. There is no interference detected and they give a good accurate sound. Keep in mind that most of what I do is digital and that a good way to judge studio monitors is with acoustic recordings. Though the generation 2 versions are probably better.

Do you want truth in your mixes?

Then look no further, i bought these for my stand alone recording unit {tascam dp-02} I'm no pro at mixing but I am very pleased with what i have done with these. But know this, if your tight on space , these babies are big. Built very solid about 30lbs a piece. If mine were to go out tommorow i would buy them again.

Very easy on the ears and very accurate representation of what you will hear on al systems small to large. I picked up a pair of rocket 8's from Guitar Center San Jose, Ca for my Tascam 2488 and boy all my mixes have come to life. I have recorded my CD and 6 other groups cd's using these baby's and have came out with awesome mixes. Pick up a pair today and bring your mixes to life.

Quick Clarification for you

By Brian-AmN5u

Just in case you are wondering, the price is for 1 monitor. Typically, speakers are sold in pairs, however not in this case. These monitors are HUGE and sound as great as they look. Multiple inputs make this even better.

True Sound

By Axeye

from Boca Raton, FL

I did a lot of research prior to buying the Rokit 8 monitors, and I'm happy I spent a little extra for these great speakers. The sound is true at any volume level I try to use. They can put out plenty of volume for a small studio. I couldn't be happier!

Simply Fantastic!

These are flat, my rock mixes come to life, i was using Alesis Monitor One before KRK RP8, now i have a better translation of my mixes to other systems, the HF knob in the back it's very handy if you have a reverberant room or a very dry room, the build quality is awesome, like tanks and very heavy, and they look sexy too, there's nothing better in this price range, Go for it! ;)

Radio jock by trade. . .These give you the most accurate depiction of the voice as it fits in the mix. Passed up the Maudio BX8's because they sounded "to good". Flat and accurate. what else do you need?

true sound for your studio

By nfaulk

Although I consider these monitors to be a little overpriced, they live up to KRK standards delivering very true sound. I recommend taking the time to "learn" these monitors. Set them up correctly (you can't mess this up because these monitors include instructions on setting them up in a studio), adjust the HF level according to your room and take the time to fine tune your ear to them. Listen to your favorite mixes through these babies to get an understanding of how they sound. Take your time to learn these things! I'm telling you it will be worth your money once you do!!

killer monitors on a budget

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought a pair of these instead of the BX8A's and I certainly don't regret it. It's true, the BX8A's highs are too bright and harsh. The few mixes I did with the KRK's are much more balanced and true. I'm thinking about buying 3 more of the 8's and the 10" sub for a 5.1 surround system. Good quality monitors at a decent price.

VERY RESPONSIVE

By rsk1b

from frisco

I bought these over the maudio bx8s.. although I didnt get those and went with the rp8s.. I'm glad I did.. Some people dont like it cuz its yellow woofer but that shouldn't matter on the quality of these babys.. They are very clear with a nice low end bass... If you want more bass... Just get the krk sub... Otherwise you will be happy with these monitors. I highly suggest a pair. krk over maudio any day.

Just stopping in to give these monitors a stellar review. I am always careful not to trust other good reviews about products because some people have a tendency to embellish products. But in this case, there is NO embellishing. I remixed three tracks and played them on all other systems and the difference was uncanny. These monitors are TOP notch. Not just the bang for the buck, but the performance.

as good as tannoy's, but cheaper

By Anonymous

I love these monitors with their amazing mid and high response curves. Low end could have been a bit better, (my previous tannoy active reveals were) but when I mix with my sub, I'm laughing.Oh, and they look great on the mixing desk.

Just got my KRK RP 8's in yesterday. they sound amazing, very natural. My mixes have improved dramatically since their arrival. When I make a CD mix from my RP 8's it sounds great in all stereo including my car stereo.Excellent value for the money. As a matter of fact my friend came over last night to hear them and he said they were equal in sound to his Mackie $1300.00 speakers!2 thumbs up, a must have for every studio owner on a budget or not.

Good, Honest Monitor

By Deviate23

from Charlotte, NC

These monitors are very honest, something everyone looks for in reference speakers. I run them through a HP-4 headphone controller, from a Delta 1010 audio interface. The one thing that I have noticed about these is that the sound maxes out at a certain point. Now I know you don't turn monitor speakers up too loud, but in a recording session with one group, I actually was just playing back a beat, and without vocals the speakers would bottom out in terms of bass. I have been very pleased with the sound and clarity (including bass) at all other levels. And for the price (I purchased from a moving pianist) its a great pair to buy.
