I bought these Kustom KPC10 Speakers to hang from the ceiling on my front porch for light entertaining with friends.
I have been a professional musician for 45 years and I've used some of the best equipment available. You name it, EV, YAMAHA, PEAVEY, JBL, just to mention a few! For the price, you can't find better. Bass response is great annd the highs are crisp and clear. I bought two and was so impressed with the sound, I ordered two more. You won't go wrong with this purchase. I wouldn't be afraid to play a larger venue with these Kustom speakers.

Since my last review, I purchased a 2nd Kustom KPC10 PA speaker cabinet based on the performance of the 1st one. Unfortunately, the 2nd cabinet did not fair as well. A rattle developed when a certain frequency was reached at a moderate volume. Unfortunately, I didn't discover this while the cabinet was still under warranty, so I took it upon myself to investigate. After removing the grill and the woofer, I found that one side of the soundboard (the board the speaker is mounted to) was not glued to the bracing. This will be a fairly easy fix, but it is a manufacturing flaw and thought it should be noted in a review.

WOOOOOO!!!

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

My band has two of these cabs that are over 5 years old. They still run like they're brand new. In fact, they outperform two 15" speakers of another brand that are twice as large. Our singer even roundhouse kicked one of them, don't ask why, and it had no effect on the performance. Obviously a 10" speaker will not handle a ton of power, but our 200W powered mixer will run these things without an problem.

Pretty darn good.

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

I got 2 of these in 2000, I use them for acoustic (mic'd up) blues & blue grass stuff, OK sounds different, but these speakers hold back the awfull bass in my voice, so I love them. my pair'o 12 inchers don't work for my voice. I also used these Kustom 10's as mid/highs, with a crossover, in my R&R bands 1200 watt PA system with great results. I'd say my Kustom 10's have done a coupl'a hundred gigs, with a few thousand miles under them. Theyre still with me in Europe now. I used them last Sunday in a small bar b'day gig. No repairs or refit needed. Go sensible on the bass "knob" and these are the buisness.Don't buy/use small speakers if y'got no experience.

The Price is Right

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

I've ran mine through a 200,400, and 1200 watt head with no problems. I have two Cabinets, and two wedges that I use for practice only. Currently and for the last year or so they have been pushed by a 1200 watt head. We are a 5 piece, and we only run vocals through them at practice, but they are loud enough and sound just fine. I wouldn't gig them, mainly cause we mic everything and I'm sure they couldn't handle it. On they other hand I do use them at my acoustic gigs, and I do it often and they work very well. I really don't know what people expect out of a speaker this price? As far as people saying don't push them with more than a 1000 watt head...You obviously don't wanna crank it up real loud and try to blow them out, but mine have just fine for over a year. Between Vocals at practice, and Acoustic gigs they are used about 10-20 hrs a week. Bottom line is these speakers are a great "value" for the money when used appropriately.

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

I work as a single keyboard/drum machine/vocal entertainer. I have three keyboards and play bass lines with my left hand. I have added the KPC 10s to give some more mid range and treble to my PA. I use a Yamaha powered mixer with 2 Peavey PR15s and wasn't getting as much brightness in the mix as I wanted. For the price of these speakers, it was worth the experiement. These speakers have worked well for me in combination with my PR 15s. I don't expect much in the way of bottom end from the KPC10's, so I don't send them much bass. Also careful how much power I send their way. Don't expect them to work with power higher than they are rated. There is a reason that information is included in the specs.
The venues I play dont require ear splitting volume, but I put out a level that is sutitable for dancing. These speakers have also worked well in my trio. Again, I don't pump a lot of bass through them. We play in smaller clubs of 50-100 people at volumes that put out enough energy for dancing.
Quality wise, I had to fiddle with the grill a bit when I took them out of the box. Just had to tuck it in a little better. Let's face it, they are not EV's or JBL's but at this price a pop, they are a great bargain.
They do what they say they will do.
Some cosmetic imperfections.
For the price? You really can't lose!

Not just a PA cab

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

I was looking for an extension cabinet for an old Randall RB-60 bass amp combo that's being used as a keyboard monitor. The bass amp runs at 60 watts into 8 ohms with its built-in 15" woofer but will run at 100 watts into 4 ohms by adding another 8 ohm cab. I had considered building my own cab with a couple 8" woofers to give the keyboard some nice midrange. I saw the Kustom KPC10 PA cab on sale for far less than I could build one, so I took a chance. I couldn't be happier. Adding the KPC10 to the bass amp gives my keyboard a full, well rounded sound. It added a wonderful midrange punch and high end sizzle that the bass amp couldn't produce on its own. The Kustom KPC10 is much more than PA cabinet.
The Kustom KPC10 speaker cabinet has dual ports in the front, dual 1/4" inputs in the rear, a pole mount for use on a stand and plastic guards to protect the 8 corners. The tolex covering looks good and the metal grill has an attractive bevel shape to it.
This is an attractive cabinet with Tolex covering and a heavy duty metal grill. I haven't dropped it from a height of 6 feet yet, but it seems ruggedly built. I'm impressed with the sound quality coming out of this cabinet, too, which I'll explain further in the "Overall" category below.
I got the Kustom KPC10 PA cab while it was featured during a Stupid Deal of the Day sale. It is an amazing value at the ridiculously low price I paid for it. It is a good value at its regular price, too, I'd say.

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

I got a pair of these and the matching floor monitors when I bought the 80 Kustom PA and I still love them. I have used them for everything from practice sessions both solo and with my band to concerts in bars, auditoriums, and even outdoor festivals. I have also used them as floor monitors for a 500 watt pa system. The only problem I ever had with them was feedback when I used the cheap little speaker cables that came with them. I moved to a much larger guage cable and have had no problems with them. I also use them when playing bass through my Kustom Amp. When I use the amp as a head and line in two of my KPC10's the bass rumbles the house. I've used them in the studio, onstage and for practice, and if you don't abuse them by trying to run 1500 watts or more through, dropping them or kicking them, you'll find you can't find a better workhorse monitor for the price.

Good Cabs

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

I have had 3 of these cabinets for about 5 years now. I have primarily used them with the 80 Watt Kustom 4-channel PA, and they sound good and clear. But with a PA with a little more power, when cranked, these sound GREAT. My 80-watt can only go a certain extent with volume and keeping a clean sound, but I love these cabinets.

Comments about Kustom KPC10 10" PA Speaker Cabinet:

Bought 2 of these as an upgrade for the sound system in our Fire Company Bingo Hall. We also bought a Shure PG-58 mic and a Peavey PV 5300 mixer.

Excellent sound, both for recorded music and live PA with a variety of announcers. Highly recommend these speakers for this sort of application!
