Good, cheap monitors

Features:

I have purchased six of these monitors - four for my band and two for church.  They are very good for the price.  Sturdy, decent sound, small and light-weight.  You can link them in series if you have a good monitor amp.  The only problem I have had (with several of them) is that the plastic nuts on the 1/4" input jacks loosen up and fall off.  You can't find replacements in the store - apparently proprietary - but I emailed Kustom and they sent me replacements free, no questions asked.  Pretty impressive.  I would buy these again.

Great as a bass monitor

Features:

Kustom KPC10M 10" monitor speaker cab with horn - Solid, basic unpowered monitor.  8 ohms, so daisy chained off my 4x10 cabinet with no problems.  There's no onboard volume control, but for my use that's not an issue.  If you run it from a board with a dedicated monitor slider, you won't have any issues either

Quality:

So far so good.  It's solid, but not horrendously heavy.  The metal grill on the front protects the speaker cone and horn.  I haven't had it for too long, but it seems like it should hold up well to frequent setup/teardown type conditions.  Good clear sound, even down on my low strings (I play a five string).  Volume balance between low and high is quite even.

Value:

I paid a great price for it, and given the clarity of sound and solidness of build, I give this a 10+

Overall:

I recently started playing with a big band, and due to the sometimes  less-than-optimal stage arrangement, had been having problems hearing  myself over the horns and drums (I have a big 4x10 rig, but sometimes have to place the cab beside me or quite a ways away.) I tried using a smaller monitor, but it just wasn't putting out the low frequencies for me.  I bought this unit on sale, and could not be happier.  It's got clean sound even down low.  Since it's 50 watts and I'm using it for bass, I do have it fairly close to me (I set it on top of my rig and point it at my head so I can hear), but for what I'm using it for, it's perfect.
