OVERVIEW

Great sounding and very affordable.

The Kustom KPC10MP is a 50-watt powered monitor speaker with an angled wedge design, a 10' Kustom-built loudspeaker and a piezo HF driver. It is tuned to deliver rich, balanced tonality while accurately reproducing a wide variety of audio content.

The Kustom KPC10MP powered monitor speaker provides balanced XLR and TRS 1/4" (balanced/unbalanced) input jacks. These may be used to connect a wide variety of line level devices such as non-powered mixers, preamps, keyboards, drum machines, and other audio devices including music players such as iPods and CD players. A volume control adjusts the overall level of the Kustom powered speaker.

A TRS 1/4" line out jack may be used to daisy chain 2 or more KPC speakers for a wider dispersion of sound. For example, if a non-powered audio mixer has been connected to the Kustom KPC speaker's input, the line out of this first speaker may be connected to a second speaker's input. This is a daisy chain and it often requires shorter cable hookup lengths versus connecting the second speaker directly to the audio mixer.

In addition to being used as a powered floor monitor, a built-in polemount socket enables you to elevate the Kustom KPC10MP monitor for use as a powered PA speaker.

Please don't, as some have here, plug a microphone directly into this monitor (KPC10MP or KPM10, which are pretty much the same), and then proceed to write a negative review when it doesn't work. One person said they've been playing music for forty years or something like that. I suppose reading instructions (or even just knowing what you are buying) would help. This is a value champ monitor, extremely useful and sturdy with a balanced sound, AND built in power. It does not feature microphone preamps. Thanks, this device doesn't deserve to be misrepresented by people who just plugged in wrong. It's a good monitor, very pleased with mine! This is not a powerful DJ type speaker, but it is remarkably good with acoustic guitar, vocals and a few mixer-generated effects.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I bought these to use as vocal monitors in our practice space and I couldn't be happier with them. They're plenty loud and clear and are easily heard over an enthusiastic rock drummer. I got them on sale, which made them an excellent value.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I picked up one of these Kustom powered monitors for 89 buckaroos when it went on sale. At that price, it can't be beat. It's a little under-powered, at 50 watts, but it does the job as a spot floor monitor for most small venues. I just played a gig with it and it worked well. The volume control is pretty much all or nothing - you can't really hear it until you crank the volume to about 3/4 of the way. But once you do, the sound is clear and no feedback. Wait until it goes on sale, which it eventually will. One recommendation for use: I would only put vocals through the monitor mix if you're using one of these - the 10" speaker won't handle kick drum or bass very well. Also, the supplied power cable is extremely short, but you can always buy a longer one.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

We have a small 5pc. Acoustic group, we play Bluegrass, Irish, Swing & Jazz. Play small Bars & Clubs. We needed to hear over the din of filled room. Lead singers were ecstatic and really helped entire band! Convenient balanced XLR inputs and the outputs for daisy chaining. The self-powered monitors saved on rack space. I used twice so far. Fine sound, portable and on budget!

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

This is a great value and the 50 Watt AB amp is enough for a personal monitor or part of a daisy chain setup for a small club gig. It's compact and the wedge design allows 2 different angles as a floor monitor. Only one down side...I think its muddy and needs more HF. I took out the stock speakers and upgraded the 10" with an Emminence and a bullet tweeter and it sounds so much better. Think about it...how good could the stock speakers be when the whole thing is so inexpensive. It's a good value.

Fantastic as a stupid deal, good at rack rate.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Got the KPC10MP on a stupid deal, and was absolutely shocked at the value. Ran mics, keys, even a preamped guitar through a mixer and into this little baby and it really has a nice sound - I eq'd it with the board, but I don't remember it being all that middy as another reviewer said, of course that could have to do with the room. I'd say it's a nice monitor or small PA, and it looks good enough to use in a professional setting. 8 out of 10 because the price has gone up.
Versatile in that it has three different floor positions and two inputs
Seems to be fairly well built. Certainly not buzzy or poorly fit together like some things I've used.
I got it on a stupid deal, so it seems pricey at rack rate.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Grandpa… your missing a couple of gain stages? Mic pre-maps in a mixer are there to bring the very low signal level of a mic up to something useable. Then you have the faders that take the signal up some more. This signal is then sent to your KPC by way of the main out or an Aux send, which now can be adjusted to something you can hear.
I replaced the drives and added a crossover. The unit is an okay monitor but I only need to hear it not really good as a main. But a nice size, takes balanced TRS inputs and you can chain them. Very handy for the price. D class amplifiers are magnitudes more expensive than this bare bones device. Cheers.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Super value. A great little stage monitor, especially useful for moderate volume performances. Very little hiss and clean tone. The lack of a crossover between the 10 and the horn seems not to matter, but I was surprised when I discovered that they were just wired together without one.
Great for vocals and acoustic guitar. The 10 inch woofer and piezo horn are perfect for that frequency range. I bought one of these on sale, and upon receipt I liked it so much I immediately ordered a second.

At the original list price I never would have purchased this product but at the current price it's a good value. It serves multiple functions...as a floor wedge monitor or on a stick for a mini system in a small club or coffeehouse. I now own two but I've replaced the HF drivers and crossovers with better quality components and the frequency response is MUCH improved. I use them for acoustic guitar, vocals and back tracks on an iPAD.

            Great little monitor

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

This is a great little monitor speaker for singles, duos, acoustic etc. I have a Yamaha Tyros and a digital Casio Privia 300 piano that I run through it with my vocals. For mains I have a small Kustom Profile Two. If you run heavy bass and or drums, I would recommend a larger size, but for my needs this is a little gem and I am very happy with it. I got it on sale and really feel it is a great value for the money even at regular price. Good sound quality, crisp highs and punchy lows.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I've used this speaker as a personal monitor for a keyboard assembly and it is great - even for being the "little guy" in the speaker family. I was a little concerned at it only being 50 WATTs, but it does very well. I needed something as small but functional as I could get, and this baby does just fine. I keep two or three layers going while I'm playing, and I needed to hear what was going on. I definitely would recommend this to friends. It fits easy in my car, so I'm pleased!!

            Ask me a question

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I bought this, along with a mini-mixer, primarily to use as a coffehouse PA. I run only vocals through it - my guitar goes through a small stage amp. With the mixer EQ set flat, it's clean and clear, with plenty of headroom if you need to add bass or treble to tune it to the room. It doesn't get muddy or murky if I run the guitar through it too, so it would make an excellent little standalone PA. If you frequently play larger rooms, buy another one and hook them together.

I will also use it for its intended purpose, as a monitor. My main band gig is with a folk-rock band, and there are stages where I need a monitor. 50 watts is plenty for what I'm doing, but if you play in louder band settings you should probably look at the 100-watt 12" version for a few dollars more.
No-nonsense, the way I like 'em! Line-in, line-out and volume control.
It looks to be well-made. At this price, I'm assuming it's made of particle board, which is desirable for sound quality but more fragile than plywood. I'm super-careful with stuff, so I don't anticipate any problems. Loading it in willy-nilly with other, heavier equipment or drum hardware might ding it up, which is true for any piece of gear, so don't do that.
A GREAT deal! You get a full-range, high-fidelity 50-watt powered monitor for the price of a stompbox.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I like just about everything about this monitor. The size, the features and the price point. I'm running a mic, guitar and some rhythm tracks thru a small mixer and into the KCP10MP. The problem is the quality of the sound. Very mid-rangey and hollow. I swapped out the 10" speaker for a Jensen "mod" I had as a spare and it sounds way better. I would suggest you buy a different speaker for it while you're filling your shopping cart. You can always use the Kustom speaker elsewhere. It would probably work better in a guitar amp.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I give this puppy an overall 8! It's a work horse little floor monitor that sounds great at moderate levels and certainly does the job.
Overall this little monitor does the job. Of course it is not a brand name, but Kustom has been around since I was listening to bands back in the 60's and they always had some decent equipment. Of course they weren't top shelf, but always reasonably priced with decent workmanship to the item.
Nothing fancy, but built like a rock! The sound is quite pleasing. Of course it is smaller, so blasting this would not be recommended. But for small basement spaces for live sound, it is great!
You won't find a better deal!

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

It seems that many people giving this item a poor review don't know what a powered speaker is or how to use one. This is not a guitar or microphone amp. You cannot plug a mic or guitar into the input jacks and expect get 50 watts out. You may get very little if any output. This inputs on this unit require a "line level" output from a preamp, or mixer board. One reviewer tried to connect an unpowered speaker to the output which won't work either. The output is also at "line level" and meant for daisy chaining additional powered speakers.
I have used 2 of these speakers (along two 100 watt Kustom powered speakers when required) for about 4 years and never had a problem. I use them for vocals and acoustic guitar in small clubs and for "open mic/jam nights". I drive them with my mixer. Although not really required, any short coming in the frequency response can be compensated with the mixer EQ. Works great when used correctly.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I was so close to giving this monitor a five star review, the only issue I have is the sound is a little boxy. But I can't complain for the price. I use it primarily for my electric drums.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I got a great deal in the scratch & dent section. This is good for moderate volume bands or acoustic amplified groups. Compact size and nice & fast to set up. It eliminates a monitor amp which eliminates one more heavy item to lug. We use the 12" 100 watt model also but for a personal monitor this 50 watt unit works adequately.

Comments about Kustom KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Not too great, other than price. Volume control is not very good. Seems to be too low or too distorted/noisy. Even at lowest volume that is still audible there is way too much noise, buzz, hum etc. Dynamics not real good either as does not have very good low range and pretty tinny highs. Would spend more on better quality next time for sure. Not buying anything made by Kustom again.
