OVERVIEW

Hear yourself in the loudest bands without spending a fortune.

The Kustom KPC15MP is a 100W powered monitor speaker with an angled wedge design, a 15" Kustom-built loudspeaker and a piezo HF driver. The monitor is tuned to deliver rich, balanced tonality while accurately reproducing a wide variety of audio content.

The Kustom KPC15MP powered monitor speaker provides balanced XLR and TRS 1/4" (balanced/unbalanced) input jacks. These may be used to connect a wide variety of line level devices such as non-powered mixers, preamps, keyboards, drum machines, and other audio devices including music players such as iPods and CD players. The Kustom speaker's volume control adjusts the overall level.

A TRS 1/4" line out jack may be used to daisy chain 2 or more KPC speakers for a wider dispersion of sound. For example, if a non-powered audio mixer has been connected to the Kustom KPC speaker's input, the line out of this first speaker may be connected to a second speaker's input. This is a daisy chain and it often requires shorter cable hook-up lengths versus connecting the second speaker directly to the audio mixer.

In addition to being used as a powered floor monitor, a built-in polemount socket enables you to elevate the Kustom KPC15MP for use as a powered PA speaker.

Since its inception in 1966, Kustom has produced high-quality, affordable PA products, and the KPC15MP monitor speaker continues that tradition.

I bought this to monitor my solo gigs. I have the unpowered version for my mains which I use with my 200 watt Yahama powered mixer. I play guitar and sing and the sound from this is very natural and full. It sounds just like my mains, except I can control the volume and hear my guitar and vocals clearly. I also have the option of having an extra 100 watts rms if I need to use it for a main. For smaller shows, I use this with a berhinger unpowered mixer and it sounds great with lots of power. It is a little heavy, but I believe you have to pump some air to get good sound and this baby is a mover. I added some small casters, and I can roll it with ease anywhere, except up steps!

I bought these because, obviously, I wanted some powered monitors that were inexpensive. However I learned (once again) that sometimes inexpensive isn't good enough. I cut corners on sound quality thinking that the band members would be the only ones hearing the monitors. However, I discovered I had bought heavy, bulky monitors that took up a lot of space in my vehicle and on stage, but couldn't be clearly heard. The sound quality is muddy, not crisp, and because there is no EQ, I couldn't turn it up to a loud volume without getting feedback. If I had a do-over, I would have tried the Behringers instead, since they have more power and an EQ. As it is the monitors aren't good enough to warrant the trouble of hauling them around.

Fortunately my new rhythm guitarist has some good JBL monitors--so I won't have have to bother moving them again until I trade them in at my local music shop for something I can use. My recommendation is to spend a little more, and get something that's more powerful, less bulky, and/or more flexible.

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

my band has two of these for mains on stands, and two on the floor as monitors. and i i gotta say that they do everything we want and need them to...they will fill a small to medium gig inside and outside easily. but EQ them for mids and highs. buy a powered sub for your lows and you will be so happy...and the price?...oh yeah!

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

After a few weeks and gigs with these speakers i can say they will certainly cope with the daily gigging. Plenty loud and solid.Specifically wanted to state that Kustom's customer service was very helpful in answering my inquiries about replacement parts. they provided me driver thiel/small specs and pricing for replacing the drivers. Though they only keep a small amount in stock for warranty purposes it can be ordered and these are NOT discontinued per customer service. I specifically researched this information because hey as we all know, after a warranty expires or product is discontinued, its either fix or replace the equipment if parts are scarce. Judging by the speaker specs there are plenty of third party replacement parts that will keep these speakers alive for years to come. Don't hesitate if your on a budget, I now have three of these for my PA rig. I think it was well worth the investment.

Cheap and sounds it

By NTAC

from Philadelphia

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I'm really bummed at how bad this monitor sounds. It is cheap and it sounds it.I bought this after reading a bunch of really good reviews for the 12" model. I figured that since I play bass it would be a good idea to try out the 15". When not used for performance, I figured I could use it as a simple low volume practice amp. Boy was I disappointed. This requires significant EQ in order to sound halfway decent and there is no low end at all. And it's big. The only reason to lug around a 15" beast of a speaker is to get a nice round sound. You do not get that with this. The when the EQ is flat, the sound is thin and tinny. Boosting the lows and mids creates significant clipping even at low volume.I will be returning this.Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

like the other review said, it is lacking in the low end. the specs say it gets 45hz but the box clearly says 60hz. complete bs. i gav it a 3.0 for features b/c it has xlr, 1/4, and a volume nob. lol. but no eq. it has good tone if your using it for guitar. even with no amp, just the guitar straight to the monitor. the volume output is lacking a bit, but the may be my mini amps fault. so im ordering a headphone amp, just out of curiosity. i gave it a 4.0 for quality b/c the cabinet is built solid like all kustom products i own, but is is lacking in the low end unfortunately. but for this price you can buy a separate sub woofer. the good thing is that this can double as a pa speaker. it is the same thing as the kpc15. the only difference is the shape of the cab. over all i would buy another one if need more volume, ill be buying a separate sub woofer as i am using this a pa speaker.

Wow! We can now hear each other! We don't have many musical instruments in our group, but the number of instruments is growing. The monitors are a must!! We first used them in practice, and they don't lie. They tell the truth. With that said, they help with voice quality as we have four voices in our group, as well as timing. We used them later in a music ministry outreach, and they provided instantaneous feedback leading to a better sound. We have only had them one week, but plan to get alot of use from them. Based on their limited use so far, I would recommend them to any group. We are very happy with them so far.

KPC15MP powered monitor

By Jim Davis

from Chicago suburbs

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Fired up the Kustom KPC15MP monitor for the first time yesterday. Used it exclusively (no mains) for vocals at a practice of our classic rock band. Easy to set up, excellent tone quality, plenty of volume with no distortion. Nice option of XRL or quarter-inch plugs, daisy-chain option, too. Sturdy construction, could use as a main in a pinch (has stand-mounting option). Looking forward to our first gig with it this weekend.

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

ok, so i was on vacation when i bought this monitor/ pa, and i diddnt have the proper equipment to fully test it. now after playing with it quite a bit now, i plan on ordering another. the bass is not over powering, and man is it loud. is has a great natural tone with plugging a guitar right into it. but i intend on using it as mains or for dj/parties. for playing music it sounds great, just make sure that it isn't pointing to the crowds ears... because they might bleed. over all. great for any use. 3 on features because it is nothing fancy. no eq but does have xlr, 1/4 in, and a 1/4 out. but no built in eq like some similar products.

Ordered one a little before 11pm on a Friday.....was on my front porch the following Tuesday morning! The band I'm in practices in our lead guitarists basement, and he bought the 10" one on SDOTD a few months ago and it worked great. I also sing and play acoustic on my own, through an Ibanez Troubadour 2-channel acoustic amp. I thought I'd try running the line out to a powered speaker. Since this was a great price, and I knew how the 10" sounded, I figured why not order one. I wasn't disappointed! This is exactly what I needed. With it and my acoustic amp, I have all I need for solo gigs....and I also have my own monitor for the band. It also gives me the low end my acoustic amp is lacking. ! If it pops up on SDOTD again, I'll buy another so I'll have a pair. Eventually I might get a small mixer and leave the amp at home.

Comments about Kustom KPC15MP 15" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I play in a weekend classic country band in San Antonio. We use a 16 channel board with a separate monitor mix for the drummer so I bought one of these for the drummer's monitor. I was a bit concerned that 100 watts might not be enough but it's plenty. The sound quality is everything we need for a drummer's monitor. I do find it a bit bulky, and that's because we use multiple KPM10M (a 10 inch unpowered version) for our front-line vocal monitors (and their fantastic). The drummer wants to hear the bass and his drums in his monitor mix and that's why I went with the 15 inch KPM15MP. Overall, very happy.

Is there better out there? Of course. Do you need better? Only if you gig regularily at larger louder venues.
