Bought this when Musicians Friend First offered this. I believe back in 2007-2009. Absolutely Love it! If you want something that can be pushed to the max and still remain reliable, This is your setup! I even still to this day, use this for my DJ/KJ Gigs. I have used this outside in the country(my home)and had the law called because it was disturbing them 2 miles away! You can pretty much hold your own concert with this setup! As for DJ'n. Can't ask for better sound.
I took this setup to COUNTRY STAMPEDE in 2010, and got in trouble because my system was loud enough to interfere with the main concert. Afterwards I held a mile long street dance.
One Downfall, speakers are Large, Bulky, and recommend two people for loading/unloading and setup. Could use little more output options, but all in all, I can't ask for more.
- Was this a gift?:
We needed a mixer/amp for practice & playing smaller clubs. This thing has never let us down. We have powered JBL monitors so we are able to use both amps for the mains with plenty of headroom.
I really like this head. I just got it but it seems good so far.
I have have owned this for about 18 months. When i first purchased it, there was a buzz that I could not get out. The unit was purchased with 15in Kustom Speakers and 10in Monitors. We play a lot of small church settings and except for the buzz it is perfect. Six months in we played an outside event and lost a chip on a board, took it to Charlottsvile for repair and when it came back, no buzz and the sound then could be pushed to the max. I have had some larger more proffessional bands play on this system and they loved it.
I have been using this mixer in live performances for close to seven years and have yet to find anything wrong with it. The only thing that could have been done better are the Pad buttons. Sometimes there is absolutely nothing you can do to get the buttons to stay pushed in. The built-in effects are nice and the construction is VERY sound. I've banged this thing around quite a bit and nothing has faltered yet!
For the price, this mixer has unbeatable features, sound quality, and power.
I have Both the 4 Channel & the KPM8420. I was Really Happy with the 4 channel Power Mixer, and when i needed more Power and features. the KPM8420 Seemed like the perfect Solution. But in practical application, I may wind up Purchasing a Mixer and 2 Power Amps and Doing a more typical Sound Set up.
I just can't get this PA to sound good. The vocals are lacking in definition. The sound coming out of this thing is flat, even tinny. I've used standard mics (SM58's, beta 57/58) and tried two different pairs of good quality speakers. The short of it is - if you want good sound, use a high quality mixer with a separate PA and leave this product out of your rig.
I have had this unit for about three years now and used it in many indoor and outdoor gigs.....The only problems I have had is a buzz in ch 1, but moved to other channels. Plus I have had it cut out after being up and running at near full level (clipping) after two and a half hours. Other than that is has been very reliable and the features are great. For 200 watts a channel very good!
