OVERVIEW

Great sounding and very affordable.

The Kustom KPC10MP is a 50-watt powered monitor speaker with an angled wedge design, a 10' Kustom-built loudspeaker and a piezo HF driver. It is tuned to deliver rich, balanced tonality while accurately reproducing a wide variety of audio content.

The Kustom KPC10MP powered monitor speaker provides balanced XLR and TRS 1/4" (balanced/unbalanced) input jacks. These may be used to connect a wide variety of line level devices such as non-powered mixers, preamps, keyboards, drum machines, and other audio devices including music players such as iPods and CD players. A volume control adjusts the overall level of the Kustom powered speaker.

A TRS 1/4" line out jack may be used to daisy chain 2 or more KPC speakers for a wider dispersion of sound. For example, if a non-powered audio mixer has been connected to the Kustom KPC speaker's input, the line out of this first speaker may be connected to a second speaker's input. This is a daisy chain and it often requires shorter cable hookup lengths versus connecting the second speaker directly to the audio mixer.

In addition to being used as a powered floor monitor, a built-in polemount socket enables you to elevate the Kustom KPC10MP monitor for use as a powered PA speaker.

I picked up one of these Kustom powered monitors for 89 buckaroos when it went on sale. At that price, it can't be beat. It's a little under-powered, at 50 watts, but it does the job as a spot floor monitor for most small venues. I just played a gig with it and it worked well. The volume control is pretty much all or nothing - you can't really hear it until you crank the volume to about 3/4 of the way. But once you do, the sound is clear and no feedback. Wait until it goes on sale, which it eventually will. One recommendation for use: I would only put vocals through the monitor mix if you're using one of these - the 10" speaker won't handle kick drum or bass very well. Also, the supplied power cable is extremely short, but you can always buy a longer one.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I haven't had too much chance to use the two of these I bought yet.. but they are small, fairly light, have a built in amp, multiple inputs, and get loud enough for your typical wedge type stage monitor for a live show. I bought one for the vocalist, and one to put by a drummer. They sound decent, but the high end is very bright and brittle (which may not be a bad thing for a stage monitor mostly carrying vocals which need to be heard clearly). The JBL EON 615s I bought for mains sound significantly more pleasant with smoother high end and fuller low end, but they also costed more than 5 times as much as these did. Given the insanely low price for a powered speaker.. I say these deserve 4 stars.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Super value. A great little stage monitor, especially useful for moderate volume performances. Very little hiss and clean tone. The lack of a crossover between the 10 and the horn seems not to matter, but I was surprised when I discovered that they were just wired together without one.
Great for vocals and acoustic guitar. The 10 inch woofer and piezo horn are perfect for that frequency range. I bought one of these on sale, and upon receipt I liked it so much I immediately ordered a second.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Not the best sound quality, but not bad considering the cost. I don't really need high quality in a performance monitor anyway. I am using this monitor with a Yamaha 600i PA system. Using the monitor out signal, it seems to need at least 50% volume on both to be heard well. I cannot yet attest to the durability, but if it lasts, it's a good value.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I've added 2 of these to use as vocal floor monitors with 2 15" speakers. They work great. But my drummer has an electric kit and put one behind him. It was not powerful enough to hear his kit which left him turning up his volume and putting everyone else on the volume train.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

Bought used from MF in "Mint Condition" but when I got it there was bubbling in the black covering, but a return isn't worth the shipping price so I'm keeping it.

Portable, lightweight, Okay sound, not too pricy. It basically works for monitoring live acoustic performances and that's about it, which is why I bought it so it gets the job done.

Sound quality isn't good enough to use as a main PA or to play an MP3 through. There are cheaper speakers out there with better sound quality for MP3 use.

What can I say- it works, barely. No power and can't use XLR and 1/4" inputs at same time. I was looking to play acoustic and put a mike through this thing at coffeehouse type venues, and no way. Better off just going unplugged.
