OVERVIEW

Great sounding and very affordable.

The Kustom KPC10MP is a 50-watt powered monitor speaker with an angled wedge design, a 10' Kustom-built loudspeaker and a piezo HF driver. It is tuned to deliver rich, balanced tonality while accurately reproducing a wide variety of audio content.

The Kustom KPC10MP powered monitor speaker provides balanced XLR and TRS 1/4" (balanced/unbalanced) input jacks. These may be used to connect a wide variety of line level devices such as non-powered mixers, preamps, keyboards, drum machines, and other audio devices including music players such as iPods and CD players. A volume control adjusts the overall level of the Kustom powered speaker.

A TRS 1/4" line out jack may be used to daisy chain 2 or more KPC speakers for a wider dispersion of sound. For example, if a non-powered audio mixer has been connected to the Kustom KPC speaker's input, the line out of this first speaker may be connected to a second speaker's input. This is a daisy chain and it often requires shorter cable hookup lengths versus connecting the second speaker directly to the audio mixer.

In addition to being used as a powered floor monitor, a built-in polemount socket enables you to elevate the Kustom KPC10MP monitor for use as a powered PA speaker.

Please don't, as some have here, plug a microphone directly into this monitor (KPC10MP or KPM10, which are pretty much the same), and then proceed to write a negative review when it doesn't work. One person said they've been playing music for forty years or something like that. I suppose reading instructions (or even just knowing what you are buying) would help. This is a value champ monitor, extremely useful and sturdy with a balanced sound, AND built in power. It does not feature microphone preamps. Thanks, this device doesn't deserve to be misrepresented by people who just plugged in wrong. It's a good monitor, very pleased with mine! This is not a powerful DJ type speaker, but it is remarkably good with acoustic guitar, vocals and a few mixer-generated effects.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I currently use a few of these in an acoustic band I'm in. They won't blow you off stage and they wouldn't do well as mains, even though they have a pole socket. But as they are priced so low, no one is sharing a monitor. Everyone has there own with it's own volume control so they can determine how loud they want it. All in all a great product at a great price.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

this is a very nice little monitor... small footprint, clear sound... I use it to monitor my organ and voice and it's plenty loud enough for live work... I already had the same speaker in an unpowered cabinet so I figured I'd give this a try...I also bought a powered 12" Kustom last month to replace our stage monitor and have been impressed with the workmanship and durability of their product line... it may be inexpensive, but it's not cheap ;)

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I was really expecting more from 50 watts but the volume produced is somewhat comparable to a 20 watt combo amp. It has clear mid and highs but totally lacking the bottom. I have an old Kustom 30 watt bass amp that produces huge volume and tone across the board with the same size cab. Perhaps more useful for instruments playing in the upper register. Still a good value with the "stupid deal of the day price" for other uses. It's not for me.

I bought these to use as vocal monitors in our practice space and I couldn't be happier with them. They're plenty loud and clear and are easily heard over an enthusiastic rock drummer. I got them on sale, which made them an excellent value.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I bought this for a personal monitor for my Fender Acoustasonic DSP amp. It has a direct XLR line out, so it gets my vocals and guitar both and sounds great. I can actually have my mic to the side now and still hear exactly what's coming out of the amp! It's great for my application! I think it would do nicely for anything with a balanced output.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

This says 50 watts....wow, my 10 watt solid state small amp with a 6" speaker is louder than this. I used it in my home studio and it works but is not loud at all, and that is ok for my studio...but I used it at a small get together you could not hear me over anyone else...people singing and an playing guitars unplugged. This thing is an EMBARRASSMENT to say the least.
I used it with various item s and cords and boosters and it is not meant to be loud.
I will convert it to a guitar cab/monitor with a better speaker.
It should work better if I take out the guts and start from scratch.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC10MP 10" Powered Monitor Speaker:

I thought I had already reviewed this powered monitor. Planned on using it with a mic and sometimes as a monitor. Out of the box I was very impressed with the sturdy build quality and portable size. I plugged a mic in the XLR socket and turned on the power at 0. Raising the volume knob slowly about a 1/4 turn to 9 o'clock. No sound from the mic. Turned to half volume. My wife could not hear it 10 feet away. I moved the volume to max, cupped my hand over the mic ball and spoke with my mouth covering the mic foam. My wife could barely hear it and even then it was muffled and mushy sounding. I was disappointed to say the least. I packed it back in the box and returned it. After reading all the positive reviews, I wonder if I just got a lemon? I thought it might require a preamp for the mic, but there were no instructions or info about a preamp. Still looking for a portable powered speaker to augment the sound and clarity. I have been a MF customer for a few years and have had problems with on a couple of items. I plan to continue being a regular Musicians Friend patron.

Grandpa… your missing a couple of gain stages? Mic pre-maps in a mixer are there to bring the very low signal level of a mic up to something useable. Then you have the faders that take the signal up some more. This signal is then sent to your KPC by way of the main out or an Aux send, which now can be adjusted to something you can hear.
I replaced the drives and added a crossover. The unit is an okay monitor but I only need to hear it not really good as a main. But a nice size, takes balanced TRS inputs and you can chain them. Very handy for the price. D class amplifiers are magnitudes more expensive than this bare bones device. Cheers.
