Having worked on these cabs I can say that the construction isn't too bad- they are braced internally. The only thing I don't like is that the baffle is only 5/16" thick! They hold up fairly well as long as care is taken with their use.
I have owned and have been using a pair of Kustom KPC15's for awhile now and have had some very satisfactory results but i have decided to do some modifications to them. First off, the horn has 1 3/8" by 18 t.p.i. threads so the cheap piezo driver can easily be unscrewed and a 1" titanium compression driver can easily be installed to dramatically improve midrange/high frequency performance. Also, it would be beneficial to remove the poly-fill batting from the cab and replace it with convuluted urethane foam. Simply measure the internal dimensions of the cab and cut pieces and use spray adhesive to attach them to the inside of the cab. Probably the weakest link in the design of these cabs is the crossover. Simply purchase quality 2-way crossovers such as Dayton brand, making sure to select the crossover frequency that is best suited for your selected compression driver. The original Kustom woofer has a very low excursion (the cone barely moves) and that is also a downfall but i have been able to achieve decent bass response with them. I have used QSC GX3 and GX5 amps to drive them with both recorded music and live music and they sound repectable as long as they are driven within their rated bandwidth and power. I have completed modifications on these tonight and I am going to try them out at a gig this coming weekend to see how they have improved. Overall, these are fairly good speakers IF you are not running bass guitar and kick drum through them.
Not the worst cabs in the world, but the tweeters are cheap and the woofers don't push a lot of air. Still they seem to perform surprisingly well and are very efficient (loud).

The one big problem I have with this speaker is the Kustom logo sticker on the front. For some reason, on one of my speakers, the glue didn't hold. An end came loose and snagged when I moved the speaker, pulling it off. It left an ugly glue residue on the grill cover. I contacted Kustom. They would only send a new logo sticker if I sent them the old one, which I did. I got the new sticker and it's the same problem. It just won't stick. I used it's own self-adhesive, super glue, even hot glue. I even taped it down with professional gaffer tape - and that wouldn't hold! This might seem like a small thing, but I try to present a professional image onstage, and I can't use this speaker in it's current condition. Aside from the cosmetic issue, it's a terrible place for a logo - right in front of the 15" speaker. A stupid piece of design ruined an otherwise good speaker

Good value

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

These monitors actually sound quite good. They are a little deficient on the bottom end, but given their specs, and again, their price, I am quite satisfied with the purchase.

We used them at a gig this past Saturday, and they sounded quite good.

Overall, I think they are an excellent value. Time will tell about their durability.

Also, MF's shipping was VERY quick!

Peace.
Standard in and out 1/4" jacks. Nothing special there. Plastic nuts on jacks is a durability concern.

I DO very much like the fact that the cabs have two sturdy handles.
Truly not bad for the price.

Kustom 15" PA Speaker Cabinet

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I purchased 2 Kustom PA Speaker Cabinets for my bands practice area. I knew that being used they would not be in NEW condition. They were rated as "good condition" at the #3 level. But besides the plastic corners, one on each cabinet, being broken and cracked. Which was noted on the description of the condition, this did not effect the sound of these great speakers. And the savings were tremendous as compared to new. We might even switch them out and gig with these now! Thank Musician's Friend !

Great Value

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I own a pair of these and all I have to say is....if you want Bose, don't buy these and then whine. These speakers are a great value and offer good sound for the price, if this is what you can afford or are willing to pay.....I love mine.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

Can't be breat for the sound and the price.
I purchased a pair of these to go with my Kustom KPC 10M monitors. Have used them several times with great success. I used them for a Halloween party the other day. All the bands were amazed by the sound! Everyone at the party loved the sound. No one could believe the price. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to get into live music and needing speakers that won't break the bank.

Wow for the money

By Don Bordwell

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I rigid mounted a set of these in the ceiling of our sanctuary at church. We seat about 250 with a 14 foot ceiling. I was very skeptical because of the price, but had played a gig where a guy was using a set outdoors and was pretty impressed to I ordered them....WOW! All these comments are tempered by the fact that they were a great price--they carry very reasonable low end, but the vocals sound quite good in the horns. They aren't terribly heavy comparatively, which was a plus when ceiling mounting them. I'm pushing them with one side of an American Audio 600 watt amp, and at about half power they will run you out of the place. I'm going to order another set for my band to use as road speakers.
Yes I've heard 15" PA speakers that sounded better, but not within 4 times the cost.
wish they had binder post connections along with the 1/4" inch. All appointments were satisfactory, and the grills actually look very nice.

desperate

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

.
I was planning a annual Jam session at my home and pulled out the trusty Pa system and dusted off the cobwebs just to find that one of the woofer speaker coils was bad .I ran to the computer to look for a replacement speaker to match the bad one.I proceeded to let my fingers do the walking and to my amazement could not find a replacement speaker that I felt could do the job. I thought it possible to find two speakers that fit my budjet, so I found two KPC's that looked to be a good match. I ordered two speakers, they were promptly sent and received in plenty of time to meet my schedule. I was total impressed with the construction of the boxes and pleased with the sound and would recomend them to any one . Thanks again the saxman

Overall, these are damn Good speakers for the money!!!!!!
I've had these speakers for years with no trouble. There not your Yamaha's or Peavy's but they have a surprisingly great sound. Great lows for dance DJ'ing and nice clearity for speaking.
These speakers are build like a tank. Very Sturdy for moving around a lot.
Buy them while they are a real bargin. I bought 4.

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

This is an update to a previous review that I wrote. A few weeks ago i took these Kustom cabs to a gig where i ran ALL instruments through our system and out to the Kustoms. It was a mid-size bar with low ceilings. I placed the kustoms on stands with the horns at about 6 feet from the floor. I set my amp gains half-way up (QSC GX3) and the mixer's output to peak at around 4db. The sound was punchy, clear, and very dynamic! I was really very surprised! At these settings there was more than enough output to fill the entire room without irritating anyone. I received many compliments on our sound that night and i don't regret using the Kustoms. I almost opted for my friends old "tried and true" Peavey cabs but I thought they would be overkill for this venue, not to mention way heavier/larger! I needed to cut some midrange frequencies quite a bit, but with some patient tweaking I was able to get really good results. I was also very happy with the bass output, although I beleive that the x-max/excursion of these 15's aren't too great- so cut the 30-50Hz freq's and you'll be good to go!I am very pleased with these and very shocked that they held-up well to an entire band for 4 hours!

A respectable speaker!

By Frobie

Comments about Kustom PA KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn:

I recently purchased a pair of these Kustom speakers to be used exclusively for DJing/recorded music playback. They arrived in great condition. The cabs are constructed very well (good fit/finish). The metal grills are adequate, but could be more solid and the handles seem strong enough. I may replace the plastic corner protectors with metal ones and also place metal washers on the 1/4" jacks. The speakers sound quite nice, especially connected to a BBE Sonic Maximizer. I haven't tested them at a room-filling volume yet, but i am powering them with a QSC GX3 amp which should be the perfect power match for these. Time will tell how well the piezo horns will hold up though (Kustom does say that they are overload protected, however). I would suggest using a compressor/limiter when driving these to loud levels- that should also protect the horns. Overall a nice speaker for the price. With some degree of care, these should last quite a while and they do have a 3 year warranty. The pictures of the jack plate on this site show the power ratings as 100watts RMS/200 watts program, but mine show 125 watts RMS/ 250 watts program. I believe that the KPC's have been upgraded from the previous offerings. As with any loudspeakers, it is always better to use an amplifier with twice the RMS wattage value of the speaker's- underpowering is worse, causing voice coil heat and break-up! If you're budget restricted, then these speakers are a very good deal.
