OVERVIEW

10" powered monitor at a working musician's price.

The Kustom KPX110PM powered monitor cabinet packs a lot of value into a compact, affordable package. This full range cab offers fantastic audio quality. The KPX series has been designed to withstand years of active duty with sturdy metal grilles, stout handles, and a high quality, heavy-duty finish. The cabs also offer 30-, 60-, and 90-degree positioning, along with a 1-3/8" pole mount insert.

I can't get over these reviews of people whining about the 'lows' and the 'highs'. Its a monitor mix - It's designed to give you enough sound to hear yourself on stage, keep up and play with the band and this monitor does that AND MORE!!! It's perfect in ease of set-up- Its powered so just plug and play. Its versatile - Pads on the bottom, side or angle so you can set it how you need it. AND YOU CAN HEAR!!!! That's what you need- You can hear. I love them! We use them every time out, they get used A LOT and ALWAYS come through! For the value and ease of use you cannot beat these monitors. I have two and think I may buy a few more. LOVE THEM!!!

Great little size and weight for those who need a small, well built personal monitor. The overall construction is really good in this price range. The grill, corners and tolex all arrived in 'new' condition.
My plan was to use it as a personal stage monitor since our sound guy can never get anything out of the existing monitors. I wanted to buck the system, plug directly into it and send the direct out to the mains. The only issue I have is the low notes get distorted right away. Highs and mids are clear enough but the lows were too lumpy.
The only other gripe I have it the onboard volume doesn't have enough travel. In other words, it's loud in some settings but not enough to be heard above anything else.
All in all I liked it but I had to send it back due to note break-up.

Comments about Kustom PA KPX110PM 10" Powered Monitor:

Got three of these for a "permanent" setup at a church. First thing I noticed was that the power plug was kind of loose in the socket, and that the socket had a little wiggle to it. I would not expect these to survive too many tear-downs without needing some TLC. As for the sound, they're just fine, we're not trying to drown out 50k screaming fans here or anything. It is not very transparent though, I needed to do some triage EQ to de-muddify things.

I've been performing in a 6 man singing group for 15 years and we just used our new pair of these monitors last night. They were ideal! Light, powerful enough and nice reproduction of sound. Low end is missing but that's clearly stated in the response specs.

This is a beautiful monitor, much better clear and powerful than the previous model, it feels and sounds like a 100 Watts not a 50 Watts monitor, plus I like shape of this monitor. The built-in handle makes carrying it very easy. I love this monitor and I would recommend it to anyone/

Comments about Kustom PA KPX110PM 10" Powered Monitor:

I needed my own powered vocal monitor wedge for a band I joined (band #3) and I settled on this one. Mine was an 'open box' return, which made it even more affordable. It sounds really good, but be forewarned that it needs a 'line level' signal from the PA board, which is to say that plugging a mic directly into it won't give you much amplificaiton unless you have something in between to boost the mic level to line level.
It has its own volume knob, so I can tweak my monitor volume onstage without having to go over to the soundboard. This band is a medium-volume Rockabilly and Surf band, and this wedge kicks out more than enough juice for me to hear myslef over the drummer, guitarist, and my own upright bass. I usually only have it turned up 1/3 of the way. It's a good powered vocal monitor for the price.

Used in our church as a personal monitor connected directly to the mains. I like to hear the complete mix as opposed to mainly vocals or other instruments in the monitors. This allows me to play dynamically without overpowering the band. Was able to get a good sound within minutes.

Comments about Kustom PA KPX110PM 10" Powered Monitor:

I own several full PA systems. I have different sized systems for my band based on different sized rooms and outside events. Most of my speakers are active (pairs of Mackie Thump 12 and 15, and pairs of Behringer Eurolive 12 and 15) and I still have my older system with bigger speaker cabs and two QSL power amps. I also have several sets of monitors. I have larger 12 inch monitors for outside summer gigs and small active Behringer B205D monitors on mic stands for smaller clubs and rooms. What I didn't have (till now) was a set of monitors for slightly larger rooms where the 12's and a QSL amp are overkill and the Behringer's on stands just not enough. These Kustom's seem to fit the bill perfectly in size and weight, quality of sound and build quality. They are also easy on the wallet. I have only used them on one gig so far but I was very impressed. They are very directional (as a good monitor should be) so being off axis by even a few inches makes a big difference. I run them from the monitor feed of my Behringer Xenyx 1222usb or a Mackie 1604 mixer and they sound plenty loud. There is not a great deal of low end (below 125 hz.) but that's good with me because we do a lot of harmony and I just want the vocals to go through the monitors. We are using Shure 87A condenser mics and the vocals sound clear and crisp. I saw an earlier review saying these speakers were noisy and distorted. I can only say that mine are not. They sound amazing for this price.

I think it depends on how you use them. These would not be good for DJ's who are looking for low end or bands that play with high gain/heavy volume. A lot of it depends greatly on your mixer and how much monitor control you have in the board. As far as build quality, these things seen tough. The screens are fairly heavy metal mesh and the cabs are apparently vinyl covered wood.

Comments about Kustom PA KPX110PM 10" Powered Monitor:

I was looking for a 10" powered monitor that didn't cost a lot of money. I have a pair of passive Kustom monitors that were very inexpensive but also very reliable. I figured I would give this one a shot. I bought one so I could try it out. If I liked it I would buy a second. Well, I have and like the first one so I will buy a second. I plugged an acoustic guitar directly into it and it sounds almost as clear as my acoustic amp. One of these monitors is loud enough for my solo or duo acoustic acts. I'm sure adding a second will be enough for my four piece electric band. There are two things that I don't like about this monitor. The first is that if I run music directly through it, it doesn't sound that great and it's not very loud. Second, this monitor isn't powerful enough to run a mic through fro speaking purposes. As far as using them for live performance monitors, they definitely hit the mark.
