When I first saw the price of this sub I was very skeptical because there is nothing comparable in the market at this price, let me tell you that I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I own two 18" powered subs and two 18" passive subs, but I was looking for something smaller and more portable to compliment my JBL EON 210P portable powered pa system that I use for smaller family or friends gatherings, and what a huge difference, the PA112S gave my system the bottom end that it was missing and really brought it to life.I will definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for adding lows to a set up, now keep in mind that this is a 12" sub so do not, and I repeat do not expect it to perform like a 1300.00 18" sub.

Got this to add low end to my 150 watt PA. It did get the job done. i had dance floor of 50 people. It made my small Pa sound more full. i think it works good with smaller PAs. i do a few mobile DJ gigs and it works well. i had the volume on the powered sub up about half ways and gave the bassy sound i was looking for.

very nice sub for a mobile dj or for a small venue. would work great with some kustom dual 15 inchers. overall, good sub for people who want an extra kick to their sound.
Has a very nice thump. but could use some more power
    well built
good, but would be a great sub with 4 or 500 watts.

Comments about Kustom PA PA112S Powered Sub:

I purchased this unit for a home theater system... With a little installation know how it makes our home theater system pound low end... I've been in the live music biz for 45yrs, and have learned that small makes sense when you can get away with it... If your a three piece act playing small to medium venues a pair of these might actually be overkill when incorporated with your mains... Two would give punch to a school gym size venue with no problem of overload... Speaker sound output technology has changed since the good old bigger is better days... The solid build quality surprized me at this price range... There is nothing fancy here.. 1/4" trs input / output for daisy chaining... 12" driver with looped porting / product dimensions are 17 3/4" width / 14" height / 21 5/8" depth @ 47.5 lbs... Keep Rockin' !

Comments about Kustom PA PA112S Powered Sub:

The only thing i wish they made a 15" powered sub cuz i would buy them too!
Well i bought these just out of curiosity, and the fact that i wanted matching equipment. I was amazed how good they sound . I have the dual KUSTOM 15s and these 12s bring out the low end which in turn makes the system sound better. I wasn't looking for something to rattle the building ,but to just make the sound whole and these really do the trick. so if your looking for just enuff low end get these lil puppies.
Great deal for the price. wish they made 15s

I got this to go with the Kustom PA PA50's I was already using for small to medium venues. The Kustom PA PA50's didn't have enough bottom. This sub solved that problem and people who have heard us before and since getting the sub have remarked how much better it sounds. I'll be trying it out at an outdoor concert in a few days and will see how it works in a larger outdoor setting.

Comments about Kustom PA PA112S Powered Sub:

I was able to buy a pair of these and frankly, they sound great. Their input level volume seems to be more true than the PA50 from Kustom (which I feel peak at a much lower volume setting).

I also have two pair of the Kustom PA50 powered speakers and paired with these, the subs really work well. They have a good amount of bass for my application. In fact, I would say that they work very well together as a complete system.

I am a keyboardist with my own solo show and so most of my main EQ settings are already done in my keyboards on a per track level. I am basically pre-EQ-ing before I even get to the speakers. I have to add a little high end boost on the PA50s. This makes for a pretty simple setup.

I would imagine that if using these subs with a live band, the kick drum would overpower the subwoofer and the results would not be good and you might even blow a speaker(s).

I have used these in the same venue twice now (200 seat auditorium with great acoustics) and they have worked well. The first time I played there, I placed each sub on each side of the stage area, under the speaker stand holding the PA50 speakers and I ran the subwoofer out from one of them to each respective sub. I connected the subwoofer output from one two PA50 speakers on each side to the one subwoofer on each side. This allowed the bass frequencies, 150hz and lower, to be routed to the subwoofer, minimizing the excursion on the PA50 speakers from excessive bass (since they have 4" speakers). The sound was good.

The second time I played there (two weeks ago) I placed the PA50's on their stands in the normal spread out position for good stereo separation. Instead of placing the subs, one for each side, in front of each stand, I stacked them behind my keyboard rig in the middle of the stage. I also took a separate output from my mixer and ran it to one sub and then used the link feature to send the MONO signal to the second sub, stacked right above it. I boosted the treble again on the pA50 speakers and rolled off the bass a bit to again, minimize excursion on the smaller woofers. The subs already have a 150hz crossover built-in. This gave me individual control over the tops and bottoms, coming from each of their respective outputs.

This setup helped A LOT in adding more bass and fullness. Of course it would, because they were centrally located and could double their effectiveness (per se). One listener who came to hear me was totally impressed with the sound setup and how full and clear it was. I was very happy with the sound and their size really does not reflect their output and dispersion of sound.

This has caused me to look at getting another pair of these subs (and another pair of the PA50's to have a total of (4) subs and (6) Pa50's.

I would likely stack the subs in two columns of 2 in the middle of the stage again. This would also allow me to maybe run a lower volume overall on the bass and there would be less chance for distortion and over-driving the speakers in this type of configuration.

I also suspect that running something like this would also allow one to run these speakers in larger venues.

At the prices these are being sold for, you could build a pretty big setup with lots of sound coverage (from having multiple speakers) and get the sound out in a better way. This is what they do with the professional array systems you see at bigger venues; multiple speakers. At the price point of these (both the PA50 and PA112s speakers), building a great system would be comparatively inexpensive. Keep in mind that all of these are powered so you will need a good power source at each speaker array point.

As most of you know, the PowerWerks, Kustom, and Harbinger speakers come from the same factories. Maybe instead of buying another pair of PA112 speakers, I may get two of the Harbinger HA300 systems, since they are basically the same thing (with the exception of the top speaker, as it is 100 watts (with 4 woofers in the cabinet) instead of the PA50 50-watt configuration (that has two woofers in the cabinet). I digress...

No matter which configuration (brand you decide on), know that you are getting a top quality speaker for a good price. I have owned Kustom powered speakers for a number of years and they have never failed me. I would assume that the Powerwerks and Harbinger offerings would also be this way, since they are all the same.

If you EQ things right, you may not even need to put an electronic crossover in the mix (pun intended) to lower the crossover frequency of the subs (which are 150hz). they sound fine on their own.

I have owned very large systems in both amplifier/passive speaker and full powered speaker configurations and I must say that I really like the powered stuff quite a lot. I have also owned many different brands, ranging from these Kustoms and other "lower" priced brands to high-end stuff. These Kustoms offer superior 'bang for the buck'. As with any system, you have to be careful to make sure that you are getting the right stuff for your application. Buying the biggest system to cover everything is not always best. I feel that chaining these smaller systems together gives you an advantage in allowing for an array type configuration that is scalable depending on the event. Obviously, you are not going to buy (100) Pa50 speakers and (50) subs to fill a stadium with sound, so you really got to figure it out; plan your event and purchases well.

For solo acts, I think that these speakers (and the PA50's) are a no-brainier. They hold up well, are powerful, and will fill the room with sound. You may need to get (2) of these (and corresponding top speakers) for bigger venues and maybe even more depending on the size of room and capacity. Again, be smart when putting this all together.

As a simple subwoofer add-on, I would probably recommend getting two of them at a time. This would allow for filling up the room the best way. They are about 50-pounds each but have a handle. Have a good dolly or something handy to transport these.

I am trying to get a future gig to be on the roof of a building and I will report on the system, even if it is the current config of dual subs and (4) PA50 speakers.

Without control of crossover, this sub sounds unpleasant. The low end is not enough. I tried a crossover from e-Q and hooked in, set the crossover frequency below 60, it sounds great. If you want a good quality low end punch, be sure to go through a crossover control!

          Stellar Deep Bass!

Comments about Kustom PA PA112S Powered Sub:

The Kustom KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speakers and Kustom PA112S Powered Subwoofers make an excellent combination for a studio monitor system, with the result being a ful-range system, which is very important for mixing and mastering, since you need to hear the deep bass.

This particular combination sounds as good as a studio monitor system costing seven times as much, which makes it a stellar bargain . . .

The key is to run the powered loudspeaker and deep bass subwoofer units at very low volume when in small rooms, since for studio monitor use these units are vastly overpowered, which actually is a good thing, because it maps to having plenty of headroom.

I use them in a sound isolation studio that is 6 feet wide by 7 feet tall and 12 feet long, and I have the volume levels on the back panels of the loudspeaker and deep bass subwoofers set to 1 or 2, which is sufficient to have full-range playback in the range of 80 dB SPL to 85 db SPL at equal loudness (or "flat response").
The back control panel of the Kustom PA112S Powered Sub has a line input and line output (1/4" TRS), and they are parallel, which maps to the original full-range audio signal being available as the line output of the unit, which makes adding the deep bass subwoofer easy, since you connect the output of the preamplifier or original audio source to the subwoofer's line input and then run the full range signal from its line output to the next loudspeaker unit.

These are very powerful deep bass subwoofer units, and they work very nicely with Kustom KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speakers, which is the way I use them as studio monitors, where the key is to set the volume levels of the powered loudspeaker and powered deep bass subwoofer units very low, which works because at very low levels there is plenty of headroom, which for studio monitor use maps to low distortion.
These are excellent deep bass subwoofers, and they are well made.

A tiny piece of the vinyl cabinet covering came unglued, but it was easy to reglue, and is not a big deal.

The deep bass sounds great, and you really have no idea about deep bass until you hear it through one of these units when it is augmenting a full-range powered loudspeaker unit.
I use a pair of Kustom KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speakers augmented with a pair of Kustom PA112S Powered Subwoofers as a studio monitor system, which is one of the few ways one can have a full-range studio monitor system on a low budget.

The Kustom KPC15P 15" Powered PA Speakers go down to 60-Hz, which is a little bit higher than the frequency of the low-pitch "A" string of an electric bass (specifically, 55-Hz), but by augmenting the system with the PA112S Powered Subwoofers, the deep bass range is extended downward to 30-Hz, which is lower than the root frequency of the low-pitch "E" string of an electric bass (approximately 41.204-Hz), so you hear all the electric bass notes, as well as kick drums, which is the only way you can mix and master accurately.

Comments about Kustom PA PA112S Powered Sub:

Bought this despite some negative opinions I had read, due to being affordable compared to other subs. Have only had chance to connect to some Kustom tops and play CD`s with plenty of bass in songs. Found it to do fine, making huge difference filling bottom end, trying with sub on or off. However, as some reported, was clearer, less muddy, at lower volumes than running loud, so I ordered a second one to add volume. Trying with CD but top speaker volume way down, I did find that the 150 ha crossover in sub may be letting too much through and creates distortion. I plan to correct this by ordering a couple inline low pass crossovers, one at 70, one at 100, so I can experiment, and thus cut out some higher frequencies. I will use the low cut of 80 on my mixer to send the higher frequencies to my tops. May do an aux/send to subs.
Overall, am very satisfied. Most of my gear is not high end, and most other subs were just too pricey for me. I knew what I was getting and did a lot of reading on how to correct the issues associated with this one. Seems sturdy, sounds fine to me, and I like the simplicity of setup, powered units, straight line in/out can pass signal on to second one. Just needed something that works. Really enhanced the music. Fills bottom.

This sub-woofer has helped my sound without any effort. When I play outdoors, I only need 1/4 of it's volume to complete my sound. Anyone who says it's too heavy has NEVER lifted a sub-woofer before. I can carry it one handed with the handle located on the side. It is one of the lightest sub-woofers in it's class on today's market. LOTS OF THUMP FOR THE $$$$ I wished I would have purchased this long ago. Thank you Musicians Friend for providing the tools at a great price so I need to play my gigs.

I purchased this Kustom Sub six months ago. I was skeptical given the price and some previous experience with Kustom speakers. Based on the previous reviews, I figured I would buy one and give it a try. Well, after six months of use on gigs, I ordered and just received my second Kustom sub to balance out my band's live setup. I know have Yamaha 112 speakers on sub poles above the Kustoms. This is a killer combination for the medium size bars and clubs we play. We play modern rock, country, and our own original alternative rock tunes. We've gotten many compliments on our sound. Especially from owners and managers who appreciate the full sound without crushing patrons with volume. I recommend I highly recommend.

Comments about Kustom PA PA112S Powered Sub:

Let's be honest, if you are looking at this unit, it's because of the price. I needed a quick affordable option to upgrade my passive pa system for small venue gigs with a band and wedding DJ. Shopped around for a couple of months, different stores, reading reviews, etc. Got the item yesterday, plugged it up (if using a powered mixer, plug into non-powered line to not blow out the sub--either a main out or sub mix out) and it added the bass and punch I need.

The venue I mainly work at is outdoor with a large dance area. I'm going to be getting a second one in the next couple of weeks because I plan to start pushing the mobile DJ thing more. I am not sure if one is powerful enough, but at the price they are at, you can get two pretty comfortably. Two of these are still cheaper then most powered subs carried in stores.

I added this powered sub-woofer to my bass rig with great results. This unit adds more bottom end to my tone, without breaking the bank - [$]! During my initial test with this unit - I was completely blown away with the full bass tone of the low E and B strings, with no breakup. This is a small transportable sub, but a little heavy at 47.5 lbs. Dimensions are 17 3/4" width, 14" Height, 21" depth. If you are a bassist who needs a little more low end - this is the solution. The controls, on the back panel, are simple 1/4" input jack and a volume control; no tone controls - it's a sub. Construction: No issues or problems. Designed in USA, made in China. My Use: I added this sub to my AER Basic, via the line-out, as an initial test. The added bottom end gave me the tone and volume of a 4x10 cabinet, but in a more portable package.Bottom line, I purchasing another one.

Great small sub works good for small bar gigs. I use it along with 2 powered 12s and it does a good job.

Won't blow you away, but for the price you can't go wrong and you can carry it with one hand.

Recently used at large high school auditorium for Winter Carnival Karaoke. Extremely full sound, plenty of bottom and "thump". Great value for the price.

I purchased this to add the lower end to my Fender Passport Pro 300 PA System. One cable to hook up, easy. After adjusting the volume knob on the sub to fit the acoustics of the area, I was able to bring new life to the sound from the PA. What a difference it made! There are more expensive subs out there, but this one did very well for the price. It is a little heavy but that's what dollys are for.

I have two of these, which I use in conjunction with the Kustom PA50s. This is a really good combo for small venues. Very smooth, very controllable. The sub puts out pretty flat from 150 to 40hz. Still useable at 32. You really can't go wrong with these for smallish venues. I have used them in smaller outdoor performances as well. No problems at all.
