OVERVIEW

A lightweight, low-profile system that provides tone presets to match the sounds of guitar cables.

Line 6's Relay G30 redefines the wireless experience for guitarists and bassists with superior sound, professional dependability, and refreshing simplicity.

The Relay G30 Digital Wireless Mic System provides a pure signal so guitars get a beautiful high-end sparkle and basses get a thunderous low-end punch, even at distances of up to 30 meters (98 ft. approx). The signal's clarity rivals that of the highest-quality guitar cables. Traditional wireless systems compromise their sound by rolling-off crucial high- and low-end frequencies and compressing their signals. Relay G30 offers superior sound with full bandwidth and zero compression.

Professional Dependability
The Relay G30 broadcasts its robust signal over the 2.4GHz band. This keeps the signal free from many kinds of interference. For added security, the system employs exclusive signal protection technology: it broadcasts an encrypted data stream on six channels simultaneously. Traditional wireless instrument systems, on the other hand, are susceptible to dropouts, static, and many other kinds of interference. Broadcasting over congested UHF bands, their signals may be affected by interference generated as far away as 100 miles, or more.

Refreshing Simplicity
The lightweight transmitter of the Line 6 Relay G30 remains out of the way of your performance, and the rugged receiver can sit on top of your amp or be added to your pedal board. The receiver offers bright and easy-to-read LEDs that display power, status, and battery life. Its standard 1/4" inputs and outputs deliver real convenience.

The mic system comes complete with transmitter, receiver, and all necessary accessories including cable, power supply, and batteries.

Attached to Your Guitar Cable?
For players attached to cables, adopting a wireless system introduces many questions: What will it feel like? Will it change my sound? Relay G30 sounds just like a cable, but it also sounds just like your cable. It features two EQ settings that match the frequency responses of typical guitar cables. Different players use different cables, but all players can use Line 6 Relay G30.

The Wireless Mic Revolution
Relay G30 is proudly ushering in a better-sounding and more dependable era of wireless guitar systems. It will inspire you to explore new areas of your music and the stage.

Consumer Alert:

Most users do not need a license to operate this wireless microphone system. I think the Line 6 Relay G30 is a great buy, works very good no signal lost great distance, The sound reproduction is as good as the Mogami cables I was using, other people complained about battery life, I found that using a Duracell 15 minute charger and batteries that come with it work real well with these units, big money saver! The manual says not to use rechargeable batteries but does not describe why. There is no difference in battery size. I have had the batteries sitting in my units plugged in for up to a week, and when turning on they were ready to go. It is nice that the receiver blends right in with my petal array. I have had the same two units for two years and no trouble at all. No trouble with the battery door as describe by others. I put mine in a medium size Neotect cases it fits real nice slides easily in and out to change batteries or change channel on it. The clip I really didn't needed to be removed to use the case but you can if you want. I put a hole large enough to expose the whole jack assembly in the bottom of the case and used a straight to 90 going into instrument seems to work great so far, but before I bought my cases I made a mod on the clip seem to help from clip getting hooked to the point that when you removed from your pocket or strap it would break. I would buy again if I needed to great product and nice not to be tipping over cords no more.

After several months of gig use, the clip broke off from the transmitter unit. when I attempted to fix it back on, the round plastic knob broke off too. really poor construction. disappointing.
The battery latch, like many have commented before, it's also poorly made.
The wireless transmission works like a dream. Great transparent sound, but if someone in the vicinity has turned on his bluetooth device, you will get intermittent coverage.

    Don't Waste Your Money

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Based on my experience I can't recommend this product at all. I wish I could have it replaced instead of having to keep getting it repaired. Even if it gets fixed, I can't trust it to keep working. It's really embarassing to have your equipment fail during a performance. The compact size and ease of use is great, but what good is that if it's not dependable and is always broken.
Easy to use except I have to use duct tape to tape keep it on my guitar strap. Also doesn't stay on my belt. Just doesn't clip on and stay on well. Great compact size and no antennas. I put the receiver with my pedal board. No difference in sound quality-just like your guitar is plugged into the amp.
It stopped working right in the middle of a song during a gig. Was only 6 months old. Luckily I bought the extended coverage. It took 6 weeks to get it back after the hassle and expense of going to the UPS store and sending it in. The first time I used it after getting it repaired, it stopped working right in the middle of a song at a gig again. So now I have to pay to have it shipped for repair again. The definition of quality is "fitness for use." Since it is not fit for use I have to give it a terrible quality rating.
This product has no value because it fails to work properly

    Relay G30 Digital Wireless

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Sound is good and clear, which is the most important feature. Was not sure by any of the material that it was mounted on the belt. Componets work very well but unit itself does not look or feel sturdy.
Good features although I have not used them all or put it through complete paces.
Quality is good; although the door that holds the batteries doesn't close completely; and the cable jack that goes into my guitar is so tight it is very difficult to remove from my guitar.
Does the job I need it for.

this pack is very cheap plastic. i have gone through three packs all of them having multiple issues. the battery cover breaks super easy. i have had lots of drop outs when standing only 5 feet from receiver. the g50 is made a lot better however still have issues with drop outs and the guitar cable that goes from the pack to guitar has died 3 times really big pain.

        Great sound, horrible build quality

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I may end up trying it one more time and cross my fingers that there was just a bad batch, since my older unit, while it feels flimsy as heck, has never given me a hiccup. The sound is great, and while I detect a touch a latency, the stats and other peoples opinions seem to contradict that, and I've made my peace with that onstage. I really can't complain about my older unit - so keep that in mind if you are reading this review. I've seen other reviews where people get Line 6 MIC lemons, and it just seems to be the price you pay for Line 6 products.
Great clarity. No drops. Sound is fine
Bought one 3 years ago, no problems. Needed another. Got 1st one, couldn't close battery cover without jujitsu and torn fingernails. Not an option onstage. Figured it was a lemon, exchanged it. Same EXACT problem.
For the money this should shine my shoes too. I don't care where it was made, the price is high enough it should be flawless.

        Ask me a question

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

I am setting this as a 9 because it is made of plastic... from there, I have nothing but good things to say. I avoided wireless unit because of my compulsive tone disorder... neon light, radio frequency, and a rash of other things that would cause interference with other units was just one reason (the other being the drop off of guitar tone).
I notice the difference in guitar tone using the "Cable Select" switch but, I am able to hear things most people don't. Keeping the switch on the 15 ft. cable was perfect... TONE was not lost with my G&L Legacy (USA), My Gibson ES-339, ES-346, LP Standard that runs into my pedal board to my Traynor YCN-40. NO PROBLEMS WHAT SO EVER!!!! On my pedal board is a Boss LS1 Line Switch that I use to divert my signal to the PA System when I use my Taylor 812-CE with the same results.
If you want to move around without tripping over the cable attached to your guitar & are in a band where 6 Channels are enough to cover everyone. GET THIS UNIT.
OK... as mentioned in the numerous reviews I read before buying this unit, it is made of (heavy) plastic. After that fact it works as smooth as Line 6 says it does... easy to hook up to your rig & no interference. Just switch the transmitter & receiver to the same channel & you are good to go!
It will not last long if you are rough with your gear & if you are rough on your gear then, you are an idiot. I used this unit on 3 gigs since purchasing it & found no problems with it. Someone mentioned about having a "delay" in sound but, when you are 100 feet from the stage it does take a split second or two to return to you. This is known as "Speed of Sound"... it will not cause an issue in your playing ability if you have any sense of time.
With technology moving as quick as it does today, I could not stress just how impressed I am with this purchase.

Not a bad wireless at all

        By Rob Paterson

        from Pittsburgh pa

        See all my reviews

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Overall i would give it a 9. I bought this a few days ago and here is what i thought. Its in a box, a box is a box and its very exciting the moment before you open it up, as usual it was taped so it took a few minutes. When i opened it i saw that everything was encased in foam and had cutouts so that each piece fit and was protected inside the box during travel. I was impressed and thought that line 6 went a little extra to ensure their products make it to the buyer protected. I took each item out of the box and just looked over them. The receiver i noticed was a semi light plastic and with a good enough hit or something falling on it could defiantly crack. Luckily enough mine is mounted in a rack so i shouldnt have to worry about it getting smashed, however for someone who plans on using it on a pedal board should be careful and not get overzealous with pedal smashing when rocking out too hard. Like i said a good enough hit could defiantly break the housing or the switches. The transmitter seems sturdier Mine is in a neotech wireless holder so it is pretty much protected from most damage it could sustain. So with my set up im not really worried about something happening to my unit. However i wouldnt see how many falls it could take onto solid concrete before it starts going crazy, it is made of plastic and again with a good enough hit could break. Of course with out delay i put the wireless to work and gave it a quick road test. Very very very easy to set up, basically plug it in, match the channels on the receiver and transmitter, and start playing. I played 10 minutes with a cable and 10 minutes with the wireless and was amazed on how similar they sounded. I played around with the cable setting and thought 15 feet sounded best to me and kept my tone non discolored. Next was the distance test, i wanted to see how far this would work. I walked all through my house (3 floors with my rig in the basement) and i did not lose any signal nor tone at all. Next i went outside of my house and got probably 90-100 feet away from my house before my girlfriend said she could hear it start to cut out. So 90-100 feet with a house in between me and my rig is not bad at all. Pretty phenomenal if you ask me. Battery life seems not bad, about 8 hours off of a new set of batteries, my suggestion would to buy a set of rechargeable so your not eating your weekly pay in batteries. Unlike most wireless, this takes two AA batteries instead of the traditional 9 volt, which i find more convenient for me. Something i found interesting as well, i tried using an angled patch cable and for some reason it wouldnt work with the transmitter, so i had to use the cable that came with the unit. Im happy that i made this purchase, i would highly recommend the G 30 for someone who is either on a budget, or just wants a good bang for your buck wireless unit. Ive not heard one bad thing about the G series wireless systems from line 6 and i can completely understand why.
What more could you want from a wireless? The new digital set up offers less interference and a clearer tone. I took my normal cable i was using and played about 10 minutes with each and compared the two, and they are really similar in sound. 6 channels is well enough for what i need, and probably enough for most musicians. The other cool feature is the cable length control. You can control if you want it to sound like your running through a 15, 30, or 0 foot cable. I have mine set on 15 because to me i think it sounds the best and keeps the warmth my previous cable added to my tone. Other features include power switch so you dont have to unplug it when not using it, just a simple off and your whole rig can be muted. Battery display lights that change colors when your batteries are due for a change are great as well. The transmitter has signal status lights and when audio is being transmitted which tell you how good your signal strenth is.
Not bad for its price, however not as well as the G 50 or 90 wireless systems. My worry is for the people who plan on placing it on their pedal board. One good hit could crack the casing or break a switch. Luckily mine is in a rack unit so i am not really worried about the recievers durability. The receiver feels a bit more solid. It has a rubber bumper which i would assume is for damage control and so it can take a hit. Mine is placed inside a neotech wireless holder which pretty much protects it from most abuse it could sustain. However for the guitarist who just wants to clip it to their strap i think it could last a while. Im not sure how many drops onto solid concrete it could take however, since after all it is still made of plastic. One thing i noticed is i tried using an angled patch cable, and for some reason it wouldnt transmit or accept the patch cable i tried using.
This price for a quality wireless system isnt bad at all. The only difference between this one, the 50 and 90 are a few more channels, a more durable casing for the receiver (50) or rackmounted (90), and an updated transmitter for the 50 and 90. The 30 is the base model and i could see any professional using it. You can also buy additional transmitters if need be. I see this system lasting a long while.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Over all it is a good unit. Would buy another if something happened to this one.
I have tried other guitar wireless systems with bad results. I had a Audio-Technia 700 and Shure SLX14. My main complaint was that the tone of the guitar was changed. The Audio-Technia was really bad, no bass response on the guitar, sounded tinney.
I play a Fender Telecaster with Texas Special pu and Gibson ES335.

I read good reviews on the line 6 Relay g30 and purchased one. Everything they said about it was true. It sounded like I was using a good guitar cord plugged directly into the amplifier,

It is small enough to mount on my peddel board.
Units seem to be contructed ok, only bad is the battery door comes open sometimes, I just put a rubber band around it.
I think it is a good value as it is better sound than the more expensive units.

I really wanted this wireless unit, because a friend was having great success with his and I wanted to treat myself. Unfortunately, it only worked a couple of times and constantly would drop the sound. If I knew what the glitch was I would fix it. "My" unit is unreliable and for the price a waste of my money. Too bad, it`s a cool idea. Perhaps they need to go back to the drawing board to CREATE RELIABILITY...

I was really looking forward to using this system in my setup, but two minutes before my band call on stage I start to put the transmitter on my belt, and I hear a snap. One of the little tab on the back of the pack broke off from me just trying to push it on my belt! Mind you, i had just bought this two hours before didn't even get to try it out cause our sound check got canceled. So that's a design issue! I'll be going to get another one today hopefully I can this with a better experience :). I'm sure they sound awesome! I want to believe!

This thing rocks! It really (no kidding) delivers true cord quality sound both near and far from the base unit. It has excellent features that instantly let you know the quality of the signal, the battery in the transmitter etc. If there was anything I might suggest it would be to provide a battery power feature for the base unit. I sometimes use this with a battery powered amplifier. Since the base unit has to be plugged into 110V, you can't really use this unit in a situation that has no 110 volt power source. Not a big deal, though.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Thumbs up to the folks at Line 6 for a great buy!
After years of working in music stores around the Midwest, and trying out the latest wireless over the years. I have found the final piece for my pedal board. This little unit has proven itself to have great tone, more range than a bar band needs, and a price tag that won't cost you 6 months of gigs to pay for it. I like the selector switch for different cable lenght's, very nice for guitar players that haven't worked with a wireless before and the tone junkies that hate the brightness that most wireless add to your sound. I would recommend this unit for anyone wanting to have some freedom from the cable. Double AA batteries included.
Wish the Transmitter was metal but for the money I can make it work. Found a cell phone case that works great on the strap to hold it in place.
Every musician dreams of big venues and a stage that is 100 feet wide. This unit gets you a little closer for less money than the Blues Brorthers bar tab.

I bought this one because it was cheaper while the bass player in my band bought the G50 and told me to get it because it had better reviews at the time.(should have listened) We both compared who had better range while we walked out of my house playing our instruments have our lead singer listen to whose playing cut out first. Of course mine was the first to go out. It was fine not having the extra range, but I found that when I would play live it would cut out in the middle of my playing although I was right next to the receiver which was horrible to deal with while our bass player experienced no interruptions. Finally I found out that the G30 is made of plastic while the G50 is made of metal and of course the clip on mine broke off while the bass player's still works perfectly.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Great unit. Two of us in our band have these units and we love them.
Excellent unit Simple to operate. No tone degradation. No latency over short/reasonable distances
If you move say 75/100 feet from the receiver the is a noticeable delay in the signal, though no reduction in signal quality.
                Highly recommended
Appears excellent, though battery door could be improved

                Lots of fun.
This is too easy to use. The freedom given to not be tethered to my amp is wonderful.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

First let me say I play bass and most bass equipment is very expensive and I was looking for a cheap but reliable wireless to try out. I am not sure if you I am going to keep this one or send it back before 30 days are up.

So far using it only 2 times I find it a very easy to use wireless without any of the confusing stuff most wireless units have and a no fuss plug and play setup.

The description and manual both say wireless up to 98 feet but I have yet to go more than 20 feet in a live situation without there being some kind of disruption. Sometimes there is a delay that happens even being 5 feet away that is very slight and maybe I notice it a bit more than others do because its my sound and I am the one playing. I do find the wireless works best when the tone selection is set for 30 feet, but even then 30 feet is more like 12 feet. Even with that turned off you cant go more than 20 feet without it loosing line of sight and or screaming through your cabinet. ***NO WAY!!! can you use this wireless in a crowd or if someone tries to get close to you while the receiver is strapped to your strap or on your pocket.

I haven't tried attaching the receiver in between the strap where I run my cable through or on the inside of my strap. I will try those areas next maybe I will get a stronger signal or have less delay.

obviously it goes without saying if I bought the top of the line Line 6 Wireless unit I wouldn't have any issues and would be praising this brand...I still have my doubts...

Bottom line...if there was an option for "not sure" if I would recommend this to a friend, I would choose that option.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

The sound quality is good. The difference between this wireless and a cable is minimal.

This unit fails miserably when it comes to durability and reliability. The belt clip, although metal, is weak and bent open the very first time I used it. The battery door has a latch with a spring that is too weak to hold the battery door closed securely. Even when manually pushed closed, I've had the battery door open and the batteries fall out on many occasions. I've experienced intermittent, unpredictable "drop-outs" many times with this wireless, even when I was very close to the receiver. On several occasions, I've had the batteries suddenly go dead even though this LED indicators on the receiver had indicated they were okay just a short while before they went dead. Rather than a gradual loss of power, these were sudden, unexpected losses of power mid-song which left me scrambling for a cable in order to finish the song.

The Relay G30 is extremely easy to use. This is one of very few saving graces.

I would not recommend this wireless at all! This is the first Line 6 product I've ever owned and, because of the poor build quality, will likely be the last.

Comments about Line 6 Relay G30 Digital Wireless Guitar System:

Bought this to use a church. Since I play multiple guitars I wanted to just clip the transmitter onto my belt. After 3 uses one of the plastic pegs that hold the clip on broke. Ordered a neoprene pouch from Guitar Center that will replace the cheap clip.

As for the sound, it's just like being plugged in. Great range, no drop out, clear sound. Really enjoy the freedom of no cable.

I don't use the wireless system professionally, but I do use it regularly. The Samson stuff is absolute junk---replaced it with the Line 6 and and am extremely impressed. Simple and it works. It costs more, but you're going to try the junk and replace it anyway, so...
