A portable solution for digital mixing.
The Ds1 MIDI mixer is a portable solution for computer-based mixing, production, and performance, constructed with only the highest quality parts and materials. The DS1 is a creative collaboration between Livid Instruments and Dubspot. This partnership was forged from a shared desire to bring classic audio mixer design to the digital world. Ds1 introduces MIDI control to the familiar layout of audio mixers and expands the creative possibilities of signal routing and sound processing using digital audio workstations. It's your hands-on, dedicated controller for instant access to your mix, effects or instrument parameters.
The Ds1 simply works with any software that supports MIDI. Templates are available for popular digital audio workstations such as Ableton Live, Bitwig Studio, Logic, and more. Whether you are mixing in the studio, performing on stage, or traveling to a gig, the ds1 is designed to fit into your setup and lifestyle. Use the Ds1 Integration Guide for project templates, setup instructions, and other resources to get started with Ds1 and your favorite music production or DJ software.
A straightforward, no nonsense solution to mixing inside the box. It provides instant access to five macros on each track to setup your desired workflow. Includes ableton racks and presets to get you started on several conceptual mixing layouts.
Native Instruments' Traktor DJ software takes the concept of making music with two turntables and expands it to infinity. With 9 faders and a huge array of knobs and encoders, the DS1 is a great way to emulate a DJ mixer, and its buttons give you access to 4 modes of playing your decks. Add a Livid Master Fader, or map the DS1's Main Fader to control the crossfader.
Logic Pro X
With the DS1, you can turn Logic into a focused recording rig, not unlike the small studios of yesteryear, but without all the messy cables! Ok, we like cables, too, but if you want to get hands on control of your session and mix without a lot of distraction, Logic and the DS1 are your ticket.
Bitwig Studio's seamless integration of clips and arrangement makes it great for quickly putting tracks together. Combined with the DS1, you'll have control over your mix and effects, taking you from sketch to release in no time. By automatically latching to the track's first macros, the DS1 quickly puts you in control of your mix.
"We teach our students on a wide variety of software platforms, styles, and genres", explains Dan Giove, CEO of Dubspot. "For years we've been searching for a universal controller tough enough to meet the demands of our workstations. We never found exactly what we were looking for, so we decided to partner with Livid and create our own. The DS1 combines the style of portable controllerism with the ruggedness of a full mixer and can be used with every DAW we teach on."

Comments about Livid Ds1 Digital Mixer:
It's rugged, well-built, and incredibly flexible, all things Livid is known for. My only gripes are:
1)Web-based interface for customizing, but I knew this going in and you can do it offline somehow, it seems.
2)Website isn't clear, the knobs use white LEDs (Livid's Shop page does mention this, but not the DS1 page itself) with lenses you have to spend another 20 on, so think of this as a 470 controller, not 450. You cannot change the knob color without these lenses.
Support is fast even around the holidays, though, and seemed apologetic about the confusion.
