If it weren't for Omni Studio,I don't think I would be making music.
I've been able to get great recordings using the Omni Studio. It is easy to work with and great for a project studio. The sound quality is excellent.
this is a great product. I record drums with it and my band uses it. It has some great features, such as record the drums and guitar through one condenser mic and have the bass plugged directly into the board and it sounds great. Go buy it!
This thing is great. It's small and versitile, and the xlr / 1/4 inch combo inputs are convenient and simple. I use it with a m-audio multimixer 6 for monitoring and various multitracking software, making for a very useable but extremely small studio setup. It has phantom power, too. Lots of recording power taking up very little real estate in my small apartment. I love it.
Features - pro's: S/pdif I/O, phantom power, XLR 1/4" combo inputs, nice bussing. Con's: no midi and it does not come with rack mount h/w. I also think that they made this more difficult to use then they needed to.Quality - pretty solid feeling box, knobs could be better. My unit gets noise with knob turns. It was also shipped with a faulty input 1, so I had to jiggle the cable to get clean sound.Value: for what you pay, you do get a lot it has given me a way to get sound from my hard disc recorder to my computer via s/pdif, and allowed me to record direct vocals and guitar licks into various s/w applications through the analog inputs - I really hope that their future versions include midi though.Overall: I scored lower on the over all mainly due to their lack of support. I tried to communicate with them regarding some problems I was having. I went through the trouble of giving very specific information about my problems, and my system and all I got was a couple one sentence replies that did not even address my issues. So make sure you know exactly what you want before you buy this unit, because m-audio will not help you out if you have questions. since my system is designed for making, recording, and manipulating sound most of the features you lose I can live with out. But keep in mind that this is not a replacement soundcard, there is no connection to your CD-R-player. Also applications like Musicmatch and other players lose their ability to be controlled by their own volume knobs and you are stuck either using the knob on your speakers or in the software control panel that comes with the unit. The control panel is really pretty bad. it works, but it is ugly and not convenient to use. For example, you can not resize it, and it is not the right size within it self. so you have to scroll to use it all. If you plan to use your desktop monitors, then you will have to use an adapter and one of the headphone jacks for those. if you are using only studio monitors then you will be happy to know that the 1/4" outputs work just fine. I have had this unit for over a year, and i don't plan to replace it any time soon - as i am king of all work-arounds. If I had to buy it again I wouldn't mainly because of the midi thing, I would probably go with one of their other models.
This system does just about everything you could want a system to do. Recording routing, Monitor mixing, 2 headphone outs. NICE!
When I realized that the Omni Studio included the acclaimed Delta 66 card & Omni I/O breakout box, I had to buy it. This is a killer DAW hardware setup for period. The amazaing thing is the low price. I upgraded from a M-Audio 24/96 and I have to tell you that the excellent pre-amps on this rig is well worth the money. Just Buy It! Before they run out!
I still haven't used every feature of this after one year and I'm incredibly pleased with what I've already used it for. The pre amps are superb. The patching is easy. My only complaint is the manual. It isn't laid out very well and I still had questions after I read it.
Easy to use, great preamps. Since the card and box are matched you never have to worry about connections between them. The layout and interface of the box is compact and really easy to use. Maybe not so great for large quantities of live multi-track recording, but perfect for doing a few tracks, or one track at a time.
