Includes 8x4 analog I/O at up to 24-bit/96kHz and even 192kHz on the first two analog inputs and all four analog outs. High-quality mic/instrument preamps on channels 1 and 2. If you don't have a mac don't buy!!!

While waiting for it to arrive to my house I read online at both the digidesign and m-audio websties, that none of it operated with my version of windows (media center edition). So while waiting for this equipment to arrive I spent another 400 on windows xp pro. Finally when it arrived I was ecstatic, except pro tools wasn't recognizing the interface. OK went to the m-audio website got the write driver for M-powered pro tools now I'm in good shape. WRONG!!! everytime I'd open pro tools and start a new session my mixer for the interface would freeze. Or it'd work for like a minute of recording. Not once was I able to record an entire song. After contacting M-Audio they recommended some things that help a bit eventually I was able to record almost 2 minutes before the problem re-occured. But What finally made me go out and get the Presonus firepod instead was when digidesign finally e-mailed me back a month after the initial problem telling me that pro tools doesn't run with my processor. So my recommendation to anyone whose just starting out and wants to make a demo on their lap top. GET THE PRESONUS FIREPOD OR BUY A MAC. It's not worth the headache and so far the cubase LE recordings have sounded as good if not better than the minute long recordings I got with M-powered. It's simply a name at this point. If you want quality for cheep don't do it.

Pretty ridiculous deal if you have a brain

First off, you'd think that they skimped on something in this package to be able to get the price down - but everything is quality. The headphones are great, not the best, but great. Same with the mic. You obviously get the m box and pro tools, which together come to about $700. The only two minor complaints I have are no Trash (I know, I'm greedy) and the mic chord. That's the only thing wrong with this deal. Now learning how to use pro tools to it's full capability, different story. But this deal, amazing. If you want to have a home recording studio on the verge of being professional and would like to do so while getting an 1814 and pro tools for less than $800 - buy this package. Otherwise, buy them alla carte and you'll spend over a grand.
