Audiophile Sound for Your Computer
M-Audio is known throughout the professional recording world for building some of the most accurate studio monitors on the market. With the Studiophile AV20, you can enjoy this same technology in a portable, powered monitor speaker that is the perfect addition to any home computer or laptop. Designed specifically for today's multimedia computers, the AV20s feature a unique angled speaker cabinet that creates an accurate listening environment even when you're short on desk space.
Dedicated Drivers and Professional Components
Comprising a 2" composite woofer, 1" ferrofluid-cooled Mylar dome tweeter and an internal Class D amplifier, the Studiophile AV 20 is designed to deliver solid bass, crisp highs and convincing realism while occupying only a fraction of the space of standard desktop audio speakers. And with sturdy, magnetically shielded cabinets, the M-Audio AV20s can coexist with all manner of computer monitors, TVs and other electronic equipment without interference.
OptImage III Technology
M-Audio's proprietary OptImage III wave guide improves overall detail and clarity while minimizing sound issues that can plague other compact monitors. The system works by improving the overall efficiency of the tweeter as well as time-aligning the drivers. This ensures that the audio from each driver reaches the listener at the same time, guaranteeing precise stereo imaging and accurate response.

If you're a music or media pro, don't let the size and price of the Studiophile AV 20 fool you. These speakers deliver far better sound than anything in their range. I got these speakers hoping to have an accurate sound. Not bad, could use a bit more low end I think. The problem with mine is a low hum/buzz that developed after they were only a couple of months old. They were never abused in any way, I don't think they were ever turned past half volume. It's definitely a voltage hum which suggests poor quality components. I realize they are fairly low priced but I had a pair of Sony monitors that were half the price, just about as good sounding and bulletproof.Mind you, they still work, but the hum from them is too annoying to make them worth anything.
These were intended to be for travel to fit in my studio in bag.For the most part they sound fantastic for speakers their size. Pretty full sounding and clear. The only issue I have is that even when there is nothing connected to them or even the same circuit for that matter they have a low frequency hum.I tried every room in my house and even took them to my drummers place and they had the same hum....Now for the price I won't complain but I will say I don't use them much because of the hum. They are great for MP3 players though.
Considering how much these speakers cost I was pleasantly surprised at how they sound and how robust the build quality is. The only negative is the lack of bass presence but overall I would highly recommend these to anyone on a budget or that needs an extra pair in a secondary location.
I Like These Speakers Just Not For A Studio, I Have Put These Speakers Back In The Box And Do Not Use Them At All And Wish That I Had Used The Money For Some Real Monitors, And I Hope That My Review Will Help To Save "Any One Else The Disappointment" That I Had After Hooking These Speakers Up To My System. "THANK YOU FOR READING THIS REVIEW" SHOP RESPONSIBLY.....
Don't buy these speakers if you need real Studio Monitors. I bought these speakers thinking that I would have portable speakers for my home studio but the frequency response was not very good and there was no lows at all. These speakers would be great for use as your speakers for your I Pod but not for a Studio. Just not enough sound to properly mix any type of music for reproduction as they clame by using the word "Studiophile"
Good Quality for what its worth
Good Value just not for a Studio
I've been using these for my demoing for about 18 months now. I bought them originally because of their size. Very compact. As far as sound quality goes, they do the job. I don't mix my demos anymore so all I need is something loud. These get fairly loud. They don't handle everything well though. They peak with a lot of instruments. They're a good solution for the starter home studio. I'm about to upgrade so something a bit nicer, but they've served me well. Never had any issues with them.
Great monitors for those of you on a budget financially and space wise. They don't take up a lot of room but you'd never know it with what they put out! Great sound, balanced pretty well. The only thing keeping them from a 5 is lack of a deep bass sound. But overall good monitors!
