I've had this board for 2 years, and my hat is off to the folks at Mackie for making this inexpensive and very intuitive mixer. I originally planned using it for a couple of months with my 2 man show. (2 vocals, 2 guitars). I figured if it lasted that long, it would be worth it. I have done NOTHING to protect this little board, and it spends most of its time being transported in a $10 rubbermaid box amid a billion cords and guitar pedals. I was originally nervous about not having a spare channel in case one of the inputs went out, but I've since quit worrying about it because it's been massively abused and has never given me a minute's trouble. The color coding is great for running my own sound from a dark stage. The pres are relatively quiet...I wouldn't record through them, but for live sound, they're absolutely quiet. The only onboard effect I use is the medium hall verb for vocals, but it's darned decent. It's got 1/4" and XLR ins for each channel, which is nice. 2 Monitor sends would be nice, but for the money, I cannot complain. I also wish it did NOT have the "break" switch (which mutes all of the channels) because when that little button gets pushed in transit, it always takes me about 10 extra minutes to figure out why I'm not getting sound out of the board, lol. I had to write this review because out of all the stuff I've bought for live sound over the past 20 years, this is probably in the top 3 in terms of purchases that I've been really happy with. Good luck with your music.

I have this little mixer for a 2 keyboard stereo live set up. I have always had porblems with the inputs. Most of the time I have to change around the connections because 2 or more of the inputs stop working. I assume it is a female input on the 1/4 inch phono jacks that are craping out. If I move the jack a bit, sometimes I will get a sound. anyway, I bought it over a year ago, I have not had time to bring it in for service. It has an extended 3 or 5 year warranty from Mackie, so I am not worried.

I like it

By Rickytazz

from Batesville, Arkansas

I agree with some of the other reviews in that it isn't built like a tank as is claimed, but with that in mind I take care not to subject it to the trails of a tank. If it were built of an alloy rather than plastic it would probably promote more confidence, but I have had absolutely no problems with its function thus far, and it sounds good to me. The effects are more than adequate and I like the recordings I get with it. I don't care for the vocal eliminator, as it actually only eliminates what's in the middle, so I would never use it in a club, but it's okay for goofing off with friends around the house. All in all, if you doing a solo act or small band I would recommend this little Mackie readily.

Flat out didn't like it. Although it does have some good features, it's not built up to its. name built like a tank? yeah right.

The price is right. The features are very user freindly. Very quiet. I like this mixer alot. I use it for practice. The built in effects are nicely appionted and highly useful. 2 Stereo channels is a nice touch too. I would recommend this series of mixers to anyone wanting a affordble mixer for jamming or even a small gigs.

Great little mixer!

By Matthew Momjian

I was looking for a good first mixer, and wanted to keep the costs low. This mixer fits perfectly. The Vocal Eliminator is not very good, but the FX sound clean and natural. A great starting board.

Home user

By Scott-y3NHE

I was looking for a low cost start up mixer for my home Cakewalk projects. I've been very satisfied with the warmth of sound produced through this mixer. The effects are not exaggerated and it easily enhances my cakewalk built-in tools. I'm new to this and am glad to have great results so quickly. I've ordered the MXL 990 mic and can't wait for the results. The reviews are very good for both products. Good sound and prices for new guys like me.

Great for the price

By Godzilla

Great features for the price, I get superb results jamming and at small venues. You can't beat the performance even with mixers that are priced higher.
