Comments about Mackie PPM608 8-Channel 1000W Powered Mixer:

Purchased used... advertised in mint condition. We've used it for one gig and it worked great for the most part. But it wasn't mint. We found it has a dead mic input on one channel. Fortunately that channel works OK with the line input, so we just made sure that's how we used it. It was a good deal vs. buying new, but we expect"mint condition" to have no functional flaws.

Comments about Mackie PPM608 8-Channel 1000W Powered Mixer:

This is my second Mackie powered mixer. My older one (1999) was ok, but bulky, heavy. The compactness/lightness of this new PPM608 was appealing, but, after 2 months of use on gigs in a variety of sonic settings, I have concluded that the sound is unacceptable and am getting rid of the unit.
In Particular, the reverb is horrible. Even the 'spacious' settings sound unbelievably cheap. For a unit of this price point, ridiculous.
And, there is compression that alters the sound quality too much and there's no way around it that I can find. I have 2 other very cheap PMixers that -- with all their inexpensive circuitry flaws -- sound way better than this Mackie. Too bad. It's the 3rd new PMixer I've tried this year, and it seems that as they continue to get lighter in weight, they sacrifice sound quality. Buy the simplest machine that you can find, and one without compression. And not this Mackie PPM608.

very good value for very good PM

Comments about Mackie PPM608 8-Channel 1000W Powered Mixer:

I'm very satisfied, obviously. I would've preferred some extra channels on the master EQs...and ability to have individual fx, but that's being picky at this price point. I knew what I was getting, bought it, happy with it, it's in my garage right now and will be used again in two weeks. I have no reservations with it and don't carry a back up. I know a guy who bought the 400 series and has been using it for several years with no issues.
Enough power for solo, duo, 3 pc, 500w bi-amped, lightweight, pan, fx levels, parametric and master graphic EQ (could've used a couple more bands), decent effects, options of running stereo/mono, I'm very happy with it.
I've been gigging with it for 2 yrs and had zero issues, probably 25-30x. It's lightweight, runs cool, fx are serviceable, easy set up, nothings loose. I'm careful with my gear and would cringe if I ever dropped it or it fell off a table, so I recommend the padded case for it. Otherwise it suits me well.
Good name, good value...I paid more for mine and am still happy with the purchase. Anything that last me a couple of years nowadays is good enough...and it's got plenty of wattage and features for the price. If you're a solo, duo, or want minimal expansion to play smaller, medium bars, restaurants...this is a good head.
