My job is give to you the beast sound for your activity or party, a sound out of this planet, I am not a DJ, It's great for karaoke's parties, conference or other activities that you need a couples of mic and accesories, very portable and efficient, if the people enjoy the activity it's good for the business.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8 Professional Compact Mixer:

My pastor helped me set up and it was easy to do so. Sometimes it doesn't work but it is not because of the mixer but because our main console is giving us problems, but we are fixing that now. So far I like it and it is easy to use, maybe because all I do is turn it on/off and mute/unmute it.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8 Professional Compact Mixer:

One competitor to this mixer is the Yamaha MG series 8 channel mixer that has on-board effects and compressors. But the MG is not as feature rich overall. I used this mixer as a submix board in a cramped theater space. It performed really well. It is quiet and the controls are smooth enough to make changes on the fly without having to sweat bullets. I haven't tried the USB features, but look forward to testing it out at home. If it works as advertised, I'll probably use it for shows. I've used other Mackie boards and this board is what can be expected from Mackie. However, I do miss some of the features from the Mackie 1402 and Mackie 1642. Overall, really a great tool to have if you are providing sound for shows and events. If the house mixer is junk - which is common, the ProFX8 can save the day. And you won't be sore from carrying it up 3 flights of stairs.

My 3rd Mackie mixer. Great sounding preamps. Those who complain about fx just don't know how to use them. Fx should be noticeable by their absence, not their presence. Eq is very sensitive but very functional. Does exactly what it should in typical Mackie fashion.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8 Professional Compact Mixer:

I use this board to run sound for a 3-man rock band, and it's about right for what we do.

Easily runs two mics, a sampler, a synth, and occasionally DI the bass guitar to not need to bring the cab for a smaller venue. Guitar sound comes from the cabs on stage, but can be squeezed into the PA if necessary on Ch. 7/8 or the stereo effects returns.

The graphic EQ is handy for taming challenging rooms, it's not a 30-band or anything but it's great to knock down any mic squeal or weird room acoustics to within acceptable levels. Plus it's built in so you don't have to bring a rack full of other stuff for a 2-hour gig.

The onboard effects are cheesy, but the FX bus has a send on it so we just use it as a spare monitor bus, and insert compression and reverb on the mic channels independently as Inserts.

Obviously if you're running club sound somewhere you'll need a bigger more capable board. But for a pretty simple set-up, this works well and is simple. You're not going to be able to mic the drums, guitar & bass cabs, run multiple synths, drum machines, and everything else through this board because it's only 8 channels. But it does what it's designed to do very well. Very good for a live group up through maybe 3-4 people playing in the size venue that doesn't have their own PA. Pair it with an amp for the mains and a pair of powered monitors and you're set to rock.

For recording, this isn't a bad option, but it's maybe not what I'd pick since there's so many good interfaces in this price range now. The USB output is only stereo, but seems to work well in the limited amount I've toyed with it.

This mixer really shines for the small show, lightweight type uses. 8 Channels is enough without taking up too much space, I think it's perfect.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8 Professional Compact Mixer:

Have tried to use this ProFx8 in-line with 2 different house systems - produces loud buzz feedback when turned on AND another entity (mic or other) is hooked up direct to the house's mixer. No buzzing when no other in-line entity is hooked up besides the ProFx8.But as a live stand alone mixer it is fantastic - no noise and very warm response - good effects for vocals too.I use other mixers in my recording studio, and have not tried (or have the need to try) this ProFx8 for recording.Another strange note: While the box the ProFx8 came in says "Mackie" - no where on the actual mixer unit does it say "Mackie...

            Very bad experience

Comments about Mackie ProFX8 Professional Compact Mixer:

First off let me say that if you are buying this as your main recording device with the USB outlet then I would re-think your purchase. I would recommend looking at an interface designed purely for recording. This piece of hardware has very limited functionality that will almost certainly disappoint someone who is looking at getting into home recording. As for my rating, I normally never leave negative comments but this mixer had some serious issues when trying to connect through USB. When I connected the mixer to my Macbook Pro and launched Logic Express or even the included Tracktion software the mixer would immediately begin to make a loud high pitched whining sound that rendered the mixer unusable. This sound came through the phones output as well as the main outputs. I use a monster power supply and good cables with my equipment and also turned of all bluetooth and WI-FI and made sure no other programs were running on my computer but nothing would fix the noise. Playing music from my laptop through the mixer also sounded terrible. I went onto the Mackie Support Forums and found many others with the same issue with no way to fix. some speculated that the USB port was not correctly grounded which would make sense but again, only speculation. I was not willing to exchange the unit for another because I didn't want to deal with it anymore so I just returned it and bough a Yamaha MG series mixer without the USB functionality. As for the mixer running standalone, it was great and if not for the USB issues I would have been very happy with it. with no USB connection it was very quiet and would have been worth the money as the mic pre's were outstanding.
