OVERVIEW

Small format mixer with USB.

The latest development in Mackie's small format mixers, the ProFX series v2 sounds better than ever and supplies convenient features at every knob, fader, input and output. This is the ProFX8v2. It features 4 extremely low-noise Mackie Vita„¢ mic preamps designed to add life to any input, as well as the all-new ReadyFX„¢ effects engine with 16 great-sounding effects including reverbs, delays and choruses.

Live applications
A 7-band graphic EQ is available on the master output, switchable for tuning mains or monitors, and an aux output is perfect for driving a monitor mix. There is a 3-band EQ (80Hz, 2.5kHz and 12kHz) on all three input channels. The input scheme features four XLR inputs with TRS option, as well as dual 1/4" stereo input channels. A built-in USB interface allows recorded music to be played between sets, and you can even use it to bus your mix to a recording device. 60mm faders.

You can directly connect guitar, bass and other instruments via Hi-Z input or connect a microphone and take advantage of the Vita preamp. It features a 100Hz low-cut filter and 48V phantom power on all mic channels, along with a stereo RCA tape I/O with input level control. A headphone output with separate level control gives your engineer a second point of reference. The ProFX8v2 also has Balanced XLR and balanced/unbalance ¼-inch main outputs, an FX mute with remote control via footswitch, and a break switch that mutes all channels for music playback between sets.

Built like a Mackie
Mackie 's legendary œBuilt-Like-A-Tank design is reflected in the solid steel chassis, tough ABS side protection, and quality posts and knobs combine to protect your investment. Rugged and roadworthy are two of the most common adsjectives used to describe Mackie equipment. With mixers, that is a critical attribute. For international traveling, the ProFX8v2 includes a robust internal multi-voltage power supply

Comments about Mackie ProFX8v2 8-Channel Professional FX Mixer with USB:

The features are excellent. I used it twice weekly on solo gigs for 6 months with no issue.(using 1 XLR input and stereo input channel for backing tracks). It was kept clean and treated well, no drops or abuse whatsoever). THE VERY FIRST TIME i had a gig at a small show, using all 4 XLR inputs, the problems began. Channel 1 stopped working mid show. by the next gig several other XLR channels began to malfunction. faulty/noisy gain controls, noisy channels, channels cutting in and out, channels not playing at equal volume when running the exact same mic or instrument through them. I thought I was getting an upgrade to a very similar Behringer product that i had used and abused problem free for 3 years. I was wrong

Comments about Mackie ProFX8v2 8-Channel Professional FX Mixer with USB:

I am impressed with the quality of the effects. Effects are FAR superior to Alesis Nanoverb 2. Reverb nearly sounds as good as my Yamaha SPX2000 effects unit (though much less adjustable, of course) or Cubase Reverence. It is great to have a self-contained mixer with effects. No need to bother with external effects unit for practice, live performances and recording 2 channel main mix. I have used it so far with AT AE5100 & AE5100 condenser mikes, Shure KSM27 condenser & Beta 58A dynamic mikes, Yamaha DTX502 Drum Module. Used for vocals, acoustic guitar (direct-in and miked), miking guitar amp cabinet, electronic drums.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8v2 8-Channel Professional FX Mixer with USB:

A channel pooped out after 20 uses. Be careful of the terms:
Open box, restock, B stock. Open box has a one year warranty. MF restock = Mackie B stock!
Take a screen shot when you order. I ordered an open box item. Receipt says restock, box says B stock. No help from MF or Mackie.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8v2 8-Channel Professional FX Mixer with USB:

I would expect this kind of gear to be trouble free for at least a few years. Nope. 4 months. I have a couple 20 year old Mackies that are still great. My last 2 Mackie mixers lasted ten years. This model also has limited gain, and four months in, one of the channels was going in and out during a tune. Tonight I lost a bunch of bass on one channel. Faders feel cheap. EFX mute switch is in an inconvenient location. Pretty disappointed. I have owned 7 Mackie mixers in the last 20 years. This is the latest and the worst.

Comments about Mackie ProFX8v2 8-Channel Professional FX Mixer with USB:

Ive purchased and used Mackie boards for the past 20 years starting with a 1202 back in '95. Ive had several through the years and also their PPM series mixer/amps. Always quality and built very tough. This new board proudly continues the tradition. I purchased it specifically to use with my Mac computer and to record in garage band. The USB feature worked flawlessly with the Mac. Its very nice to have a full mixer to prepare tracks with before they are recorded. I was using a Scarlet 2i2, and while it was great, I had to have a mixer ahead of that to be sure my tracks sounded the way I wanted before recording. In garageband all I want to do is adjust track volume and panning. I don't want to have to play with effects of EQ post recording. If the sound is good when going in , it makes it all the easier during mix down. So this new board is the perfect answer for me in this application. Of course it is also perfect for use in live applications too. The efx sound rich and clean, and the features are well thought out and laid out on the board. The price is very good too. Way to go Mackie, you have another great line of mixers out once again for the working recording musician. If you're thinking of buying on of these, you've made an outstanding choice.
