We used to use a powered mixer for quite a long time, and thought we were getting a great sound. One evening at a rehearsal it cratered. So we decided it was time to step up to something better. Little did we know how much better until we got this mixer. We were fortunate enough that we found one of these used and in a flight case ( best of both worlds ). Honestly it takes more time and effort to put everything together than the powered mixer but, what a difference in our sound! Everything about this mixer is great quality, sound, pots, sliders, and, more features than we will probably ever use! Their support team has been great also in answering questions and, helping us get this mixer fine tuned.

We just got t is nowhere to go wrong on this one. His mixer for our church and we are using it with 4 qsc pa's, 4 600 watt bose speakers and a 1000 watt jbl subwoofer and it is the best sound i have ever heard anywhere. We also tried it with our old jbl's and it still sounded great this is a great product and there.

Best board ever!

By MixerMan

The mackie SR24X4 is by far the best mixer I have ever used. It is small enough to haul to every demanding gig, yet has all the features you would expect to find on a studio board. Low noise, tough as nails, and well worth the investment.

Does everything that you need it to

I became the sound man in my church youth group about 6 months ago, and they have been using this board for about 7 years or so. Even with a decent amount of age, it still looks and acts brand new. I was able to pick up on it quite easy, very surprised at it's features and peripheral ability. Nice to have up to four monitors on stage, and still have the 2 post faders for whatever you need them for. Subgrouping is nice and simple, plus the added air effect makes the sound even better. Only complaint is that the tape return to main mix mutes all the input channels. Great board, good price, plenty of features...

A board designed for smaller bands that can't afford anything else. I recommend a Soundcraft.

Why the bad rap?

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I don't understand why some people dislike this board. I've used it numerous times for about 7-8 years and have never had a problem with it. Several people have said that the Allen & Heath board is better, and that may be, but it is also $1000 more for the comparable product. This is an excellent board especially for the price.

Great Bang For The Buck

This board is a great middle of the road install and road mixer. It has lots of features, (some I honestly didn't use like AIR). It's reliable and simple to use. Great for churches and bands looking for good value. Allen & Heath GL200 is a far superior console, but then again it's about twice the cost too. Beats the pants off Behringer. I occasionally pull mine out for small gigs.

I have used the first version of sr 24 for about 7 years and have not had any problems with it. The board is meant for live sound. For this application and price you can't get any better. Last year it did 145 shows on the road and still no scratching of the knobs. It has been exposed to 5 degrees F to 105 degrees F and still works like a charm. For the most part it is unfair to lower this products rating because allen @ heath sounds better. Through experience 99% of the population would not be able to tell the difference in the sound of a allen compared to mackie. So go with the mackie get good speakers and microphones and be proud of your mackie

Not band for the money

Yes, there are many other boards that sound better, but for the price it's a decient board. My complaints? AUX assignement is not very flexable. No direct outs. No mute groups. That said, it will get the job done. Good for someone on a budget, or as a backup board.

This board has worked great for as long as I've used it, I love the features and the way it is layed out. I've been using this board every week for years. Much more reliable and better layed out than other boards I've used.
