OVERVIEW

The Mackie SRM150 Compact Active PA Speaker is ideal for a wide variety of applications ranging from boardroom A/V to live musical performance in coffee houses, piano bars, rehearsals, and more. The SRM150 speaker combines Mackie's proven mixer and SRM Active loudspeaker technologies to create a powerful 3-channel PA system that is ultracompact, versatile, expandable, affordable-and sounds good too.

Don't be fooled by the small size. The SRM150 is big both on features and sound quality. The built-in 3-channel mixer offers 2 combo XLR/line inputs-with true 48V phantom power-a stereo channel for CD/MP3 players, and Mackie's powerful 3-band Active EQ. The SRM150 speaker can even be mounted on a mic stand, making it an excellent personal audio monitor.

Built-In Mackie Mixer
At the very heart of the SRM150 is a Mackie mixer, with all the versatility and features Mackie is known for. Channels 1 and 2 can be used for mic/line sources, thanks to the handy Neutrik combo jack, which accepts either 1/4" TRS or XLR connections. True 48V phantom power is supplied, so you can use even the most finicky condenser mics with confidence.

Channel 1 also has an added feature. Simply plug in your guitar, bass (or any other Hi-Z instrument), press the CH1 Instrument switch and you get all the benefits of a DI box, without any hassle or added expense.

Dedicated Stereo Inputs
The Mackie SRM150 monitor's Channel 3 is reserved for stereo devices, such as an MP3, CD, or tape player. Just connect to the dual RCA jacks from your device and use the Channel 3 Level control to balance the gain with your other inputs. This is a truly handy feature for performers working with backing tracks, MIDI sequencers, or drum machines.

Glorious Mackie 3-Band EQ
Mackie invested tremendous resources optimizing the center frequencies of their 3-band active EQs. By selecting 100Hz, 2.5kHz, and 12kHz for the lows, mids, and highs respectively, they created an equalization scheme of a highly musical nature. SRM150's EQ bands work very independently of each other, allowing you to cut or boost a specific band without affecting the others. With up to 15dB boost/cut capability per band, the onboard active EQ provides plenty of tone-sculpting latitude and feedback control.

High Output, Premium Quality Sound
The Mackie SRM150 PA speaker's powerful 150-watt Class-D amplifier with an equally impressive 5.25" full range, has a weather-resistant neodymium driver, which was developed by the speaker gurus at EAW. The SRM150 puts out a blistering 120dB SPL @ 1 meter, far more than the competition offers. The SRM150 sounds great, whether you're accompanying a vocalist with your acoustic at the coffee house or making an A/V presentation to the board of directors.

The Ultimate Personal Monitor
Not only is the Mackie SRM150 an excellent loudspeaker system for compact PA applications, but it also works well as a personal monitor. The onboard 3-band EQ facilitates feedback suppression and offers the same great tone-shaping capabilities as other legendary Mackie compact mixers. Mic stand ready with an included boom arm adapter, the SRM150 puts total control right at your fingertips. In addition to standmounting, the SRM150 was designed to provide the proper monitoring angle when used in traditional floor wedge and tabletop placement.

Rear Patchbay
Want to use a second SRM150 or an SRM450? The rear panel Thru jack provides connectivity for an extra powered monitor, or for sending a mic level output to the front of house system (by activating the mic/line switch). The Main input also has a dual purpose. It can obviously be used to receive monitor mixer signals, but can also be used to link more SRMs.

Applications Galore
Uses for the Mackie SRM150 are virtually limitless. Below is a short list of some obvious, as well as not-so-obvious applications:
•Compact, portable performance PA system
•Executive boardrooms
•A/V presentations
•Tradeshow demonstration booths
•Classroom instruction

Great idea but they missed on one point. If you feed signal into the main in (say monitor feeds) and add vocals through the channel one input. You can not turn off the main feed signal from passing through the THRU port back to the mixer to get the vocals only.
Limits you to either using the box for vocals only or for monitor only.
A switch to kill the main in from passing back out would have been a great addition to this product.
Has good sound for its size but this is for the coffee shop musicians.
Would have been the perfect solution for the bar band vocalist that can never hear what they want to hear in the monitors. But no way of not making a signal loop.

I have owned two of these and each one died after just a handful of uses. The first one suddenly stopped making sound; it powered-up but nothing would come out of the speaker - not even hiss with the volume maxed. The second one just refused to power-up; no blue light, no sound, no nothing. I checked the fuse - all OK there - so its looks like another internal problem. And just out of warranty - again!

Its too bad. The SRM-150 is such a great idea and from the outside it looks so professional and well built... but on the inside there are evidently some real quality/reliability issues with the electronics.

My advice to SRM-150 users and would-be purchasers: never rely on this speaker - and always bring a back-up!

For the record, I am a big fan of Mackie's other products. I am a long-time user of the SRM-350 and SRM-450 speakers and I have never had an issue with either one. I also have a pair of Mackie's FR series monitors in my home studio that I have used almost everyday for 12 years without any problems at all.

Sadly I would not recommend anyone buy this product.

When it worked, it worked well. Easy to use. However, our unit was only used 6 times over the last 3 years and suddenly it stopped working. Apparently it cannot be repaired. Of course it is just outside of warranty so I am out of luck. I went for the brand name, and was let down.

After about the 5th use, it stopped working. I had to ship to a Mackie Service Center, and it's been there since (going on three months because of parts backorder). It's been in the shop longer than in my possession, so not happy about that at all. I purchased the Behringer for work, and have borrowed for live bar band performances. Main thing is, it's still working! Also, it has more headroom and sounds just as good as the Mackie did. I hate to say it, but if you need a near-field monitor, buy the Behringer.

I babied this product , using it only indoor . I would make sure not to give it too much volume in order not to clip that unit, but without warning it just stopped working, it was never abused. It turns on but no sound comes out, I took it to get serviced to a place mackie referred me to on feb 6 ,2013 but the part that is faulty is on back order through mackie until April . It's unacceptable if you use it to make a living with. Look at behringer instead.

I bought this speaker to monitor my Roland V drums. I have used Mackie speakers before (SRM 450)and loved the sound quality. I wanted a monitor small enough to mount on my drum rack, but something that could produce a decent volume with excellent sound quality. I really hate to say that this speaker did not live up to my expectations. It is lacking the crisp high end and detailed sound I have always enjoyed from mackie speakers. I have some high quality akg headphones that really bring out the nuiances and detail of the v drums which makes them enjoyable to play. The srm150 has a disappointingly flat, dull sound no matter how I tweak the eq. I really wish I could give this product a good review because I am a big mackie fan, but at least for my application these didn;t meet my expectations. I will say that recorded music playback sounds good, monitoring instruments is iffy.

This is an amazing alternative to lugging heavy racks of power amps and piles of wedge monitors. We have streamlined our live set-up by incorporating 2 Bose towers and 4 SRM 150's. The stage dynamic and sound production is so much cleaner now. We are never going back!
