These are being used for stage monitors for our choir. I marked down features and quality for two reaasons: the wedge angle puts a bit of strain on the input, and I would have liked to see some onboard EQ. Don't let that stop you from buy these units! The sound is outstanding with a very smooth response. The 80x90 dispersion makes them as effective on their side as upright. Very difficult to get feedback and very little stage spill. The sound is so clean I can run them at lower level and everyone can still hear. I was amazed how much sound could be gotten from such a small speaker. They are the best value in their price range.

Not what I expected...

Very underpowered. Harsh highs, very muddy mids and it lacks all forms of bass. This is one of the worst speakers I have bought from Mackie.

Buy them!

By all-mackie-girl

from Boston, MA

I am a 5'1" female mobile dj / karaoke jockey and I don't have an assistant. I prefer powered speakers over having a separate amp and passive speakers and I was always breaking my back lugging active speakers or subwoofers. Now I can carry these speakers and lift them on to my stands without worries of having to ask someone or having an assitant help me. Yes, it is a 10" speaker, so don't expect a bigger subwoofer bass-y sound ... but these work well for bars, function halls and outside venues ... I was a little leary, but the sound is surprising.Such a great value for the price, and so light for a petite female dj!

Little Boom Box But Big on Sound

By crunchynoodles

from Central Vally, California

Incredible sound from such a small cab & weights only 32lbs. Wow. I am hooked to the these babies. I haven't heard anything comparable to these in this size & weight. I also have a set JBL EON10. The Mackie have a much fuller bottom end from 500hz on down. I didn't expect that from a 10" cab. This sounds more like my Peavey SP2 right up to about 250. Yeah. That's right. These have less rated power but sounds like the big boys. Buy it.

BEST SPEAKERS I'VE OWNED

By s5OVDhMKU

from MONTREAL/CANADA

Theses speakers are being used for small to medium events (0-150 people) and people haven't stopped commenting on the clarity and especially the bass coming from such a small speaker. I set theses up @ 7 feet above the crowd and everyone hears them ... perfect speaker for djing and highly recommended...you will not be unsatisfied

Could not be happier!

By Semi Retired Guitar Nut

from Greensburg, Pa

These speaker are incredible and then some. I have been playing on stage for over 30 years and have used speaker systems twice the size that can not out perform these guys. I simply can't understand how anyone can give these a 1 or 2 star rating like the 2 earlier reviews unless they have some hidden agenda or simply are deaf. The highs are crisp and you can feel the lows in your gut. Buy them!

No More Back Pain

By MackieAcrossTheBoard

from Saint Peters, MO

If you're looking for studio sound for a live gig this one is for you. Perfect response across the whole curve. Great bass and crisp highs at a fraction of the weight of the SRM450. I had concerns about the lower power levels of the amps, but the efficiency of these things is great and they fill an auditorium or club with studio quality sound. They are absolutely worth the price. My only question for Mackie is "What happened with the TRS inputs?"

Buy these speakers!

By Jazzmin T

from Johnstown, CO

I'm a DJ and a member of my crew has a pair of these speakers. We have used them in practice and for a lot of our live shows. They're durable and can take a lot of abuse. They also sound great and deliver exactly what I want to hear in a speaker. I can't wait to own a pair of my own!
