This is an update of my previous review. After a lot of experimenting, we found that the machine is fussy about the brand of media used. After we switched to Tayio Yuden/JVC 52x CD-R media, we had no further problems. We also upgraded the firmware to version 1.35, but I think that changing to the Tayio Yuden media is what made the difference. Thus my rating is now a "7" provided that the correct brand of media is used.

We bought two of the Microboards CWL6200 CopyWriter Live CD Recorders machines to record live high school and college football games that we have the rights to on our two radio stations. The features are great, but the quality control on these machines is terrible. Too bad, a great idea poorly executed. If you decide anyway that you want to try these out, make sure to get a 30 day "no questions asked" money back guarantee and use it a lot during the trial period.
We really like the idea of automatically starting a new disc when the first one is getting full, it's one less thing for board operators to worry about during a live game. It's also nice to be able to make audio CDs from live audio without having to go through an intermediate step of recording a .WAV file, breaking it into two or more parts and burning CDs from that, plus our production computer is not tied up with recording live audio. One can also use the machine to duplicate audio CDs.
We bought two of these machines and both samples have intermittent problems. Sometimes the machines would hang in the middle of a disc. Sometimes they would fail to start the second disc. Sometimes they would not close out a disk. At first we thought it was operator error, but even our best control room operator could not get the machines to behave. I personally confrimed that the settings were correct. Neither machine worked correctly more than 50% of the time.
Somewhat expensive for a dedicated single purpose device, but it would be worth the money only if they worked.

We purchased this deck to record our worship services at church. We have never had a problem with it. It works great!
Comments about Microboards CWL6200 CopyWriter Live CD Recorder:
I just purchased this unit. I read the reviews and thought, "I'm sure they've straightened out the problems by now"! Boy was I wrong! My experience was worse than the other reviews. I bought this unit to use in a church environment. I made the connections and turned it on and it was stuck in an initializing loop! The unit wouldn't even turn on completely--OUT OF THE BOX! Microboards really needs to spend some time and money to test/qc this product. I don't know about any of their other products but after this experience, I'm sure I won't! Great product idea. I hope they get it right.

I use this machine to record live events. When my band plays, we use this to record the show. With the disc span feature, we can record hours of jamming and not miss a beat. We bought a tower copier also. We use it to copy our discs and sell them after the show. The machine is awesome.
Comments about Microboards CWL6200 CopyWriter Live CD Recorder:
I paid for three decks in a row, including one from the factory they claimed was repaired. All had a bad right CD drive. It would not play or record, although it would copy. The problem is apparently in the software, but I could get no response from tech support from Microboards. The unit is perfect for so many uses, if it only would work. It also has a control button (PLAY MODE) that does nothing and is not in the instructions.
