I have run this with both Sonar 4, then Sonar 7. This unit works awesome with both. It should be run with a GOOD computer that has alot of resources if you plan on running more than 4 tracks with effects and such. Setup was a little involved, but I haven't had to touch them for years after the initial setup. I love it's versitility which is why I bought it. I'm tempted to think that a high end preamp with this thing would be very benificial.

Bottom line great sounding piece of hardwarre. Softwarw, goes with what's availabe. The company on the other hand is in the stone ages as far as support and tech knowledge. Don't expect to get through to their support line. They evan pick up the phone then hang up innedyately on you so they can go out for a break. Horrible support. It works but don't tell that to MOTU, tell them they need better support.

I purchased this unit to fly 24 channels of audio from my 2424lv hard disk into sonar 3 producer. works flawlessly, records analog nice too! and the headphone amp is the best I've ever heard. some of the best money I've spent in a long time!!!

The 2408 is a nice computer interface. It has great routing and with ADAT, TDIF and analog I/O, it's hard to beat. The sound quality is superb; I replaced 3 Gina24 units with one of these and the difference in A/D conversion is outstanding. My only complaint is the hardware quality. The 1/4" inputs are PC board mounted, not chassis mounted. This type of config tends cause problems with solder joint breaks with lots of use. If you are using it in a studio where your connections are always made then you shouldn't have too many problems. Other than that, the features are great. I own two of them giving me 48 simultaneous channels of I/O.

This is one of the most, if not most expandable systems ever! I started with a digi001 and i only was able to expand to 18 total inputs.. which was a major bummer, and then i had to sell it and lose money... now with this system i have 64 current inputs with the abilitiy to expand it up to 72 digital inputs on 1 PCI card!

This unit has great features and is easy to use. It is very flexible with the I/O routing easily manipulated through the console interface. It took quite a while to set up, though. Unlike other units I have used (Echo Gina24), the setup required several different config attempts before success. I also had an occasion where my computer ?forgot? the unit was installed and I had to reboot and tweak the config several times to get it to recognize the unit again. The hardware is a bit on the cheesy side as well; it has many jacks that are PCB mount only as opposed to chassis mounted. All in all, the amount of flexibility and the fact that once you have a core unit, it can be cost effectively expanded make it a nice unit. The ADA conversion sounds very clean too.

MOTU 2408 mkii. MOTU failed to honor the registration card sent to them. They claim I filled it out wrong and would not sell the upgrade kit to me. Poor resale value. Do not buy based on promises of upgrades.

Well, a tinge of disappointent in the fact that I was lead to believe it can do SPDIF I/O AND all the digital AND 8 channels at once. It cannot. It has 3 banks of audio total... so if you want the SPDIF, there's one bank right there. Other than that, this thing rivals anything I've ever seen/heard in any studio, even with my extremely low-grade software. I just wish MOTU would include multitrack software for PC for this thing. But it is incredibly versatile with software.
