Two Thumbs up from a 30 Year Voiceover Pro

Features:

I've used the EV RE20 exclusively over the years, and after trying this mic out in my studio, I'm flabbergasted as to how they can afford to manufacture such a quality piece for such a bargain-basement price.  The key to this mic is a decent pre-amp.  It's warm and responsive and sounds really smooth across all frequencies.  I am using an old ART tube MP to warm it up even more and I can't believe the sound.  Remember, you'll need phantom power to make this transformless platform  work, and quite a bit of gain for the pre-amp section, so make sure your stuff is fairly quiet.  The ART tube MP I have is really quiet, however I have friends who've had them and they aren't as quiet as mine.  Nonetheless, for the price with the two combined, you have an excellent starting point for relatively very little capital.  For those sophisticates who would look down their noses at anything without a Neumann logo on it, you don't know what you're missing.  I sold all of my expensive stuff and took the family on vacation!

Very Impressed With The Microphone

| Review By: Dwaun Thomas | 2 weeks, 6 days ago

Features:

I've recorded at quite a few professional studios and a lot of recording at my home studio. I've used $1000 dollars microphones that run neck and neck with the 990. Contrary to popular belief price doesn't always have anything to do with quality. If you're on a budget you don't worry about compromising quality for price.

They could easily sale this mic for more. I just thankful they didn't.

Overall:

Love the case. And the quality of the mic is above average.
